The original work, as performed on stage, had no voiceover. I feel it is stronger without the narration. Everything one needs to know is communicated with the dance and evocative music.
Oh, agreed. This film was probably distributed through educational sources and the narration added for more explanatory purposes. Still great to see the original cast in color!
rpf16mm Absolutely. I've seen the Limon Company perform this several times, though of course without Mr. Limon (since he died in '72). It is a sign of a great performer that one can still feel his strong presence through the camera lens.
