The Jam (and later The Style Council ) were two of the best music groups of that era. Greatly talented, meaningful lyrics and wonderful melodies. Paul is probably the most underrated songwriter of this generation. Pure class. 👌🏽
An incredible 3 piece everyone could see and hear Paul’s genius but Bruce’s bass work lays such a groove and ricks drumming keeps everything moving sweet just a fantastic band too young to have seen them live wished I could

I used to have to, I just can’t anymore, GIFT is by no small margin the greatest The Jam album. People want to draw you in for a 3 hour debate. I won’t WILL NOT do it anymore.
Weller is a genius.....foxtons bass in on the same level as John deacon.....and Hucknel was a driving force on the drums.....DEFINITELY one of England’s best!!!
I wonder who the keyboard player and the man playing the tamborine, I bet they had interesting lives to help The Jam out when they needed some extra backing.
@@sirandrelefaedelinoge Wow, you really know your stuff! Thank you. I couldn't find much on Steve but more on Keith - that he used to play in bands on the Old Kent Road. I lived around there in the early 2000s and it was pretty rough even then - back in the 80s it would have been a rough and tough place to be I'm sure, with plenty of gangsters. Just down from there near Burgess Park on the Walworth Road I once met old murderer gangster Frankie Frazer at a bicycle shop - the owner introduced me to him like he was royalty and before I knew what i was doing I was shaking his hand saying pleased to meet you - I remember walking off confused thinking 'But he's a murderer.. what was I doing?' Anyway, I digress. Keith Thomas has now passed away but it was interesting to find out he was the sax and flute player for them at this time seeing as he's just there with a tamborine for this - I knew he was more than that looking at this video somehow!

That bass, Weller’s voice, and that single roll snare had me the first time I heard it!
Remember when it came out Rockin track ✌️💯

One of the best tunes of all times. Genius
Everything is brilliant about this song and the band!!!
the Jam, Haircut 100 , Madness are the pioneers of early british new wave fukin brilliant

Brilliant song, which will never die
This is my happy song. Never fails to put a smile on my face.
That Ric 360F is funking gorgeous..!!😍😍😍
He gave it away eventually
Clearly a man of taste - much like our hero.
Love this. 1960s music sped way up. The jam was great
The same time this song came out,in Australia there was a mini series called “A town like Alice”. I used to get them both confused!!🤣
That's the novel this song took its name from
@@sirandrelefaedelinoge I know right😁but I was just a little kid that mixed them up. Great miniseries but with Bryan Brown. TV days✌️
Another brilliant song from THE JAM I like this one 🤩😊😎🤗
Love this song ,super cool band , best drummer in the world by far
Stewart Copeland est excellent aussi, et, à mon avis, supérieur.
Je trouve que son style ressemble à celui de Jet Black des stranglers.
My favorite is Clem Burke but Buckler is great!
I first heard this song on an episode of The walking dead where Dwight was making that yummy sandwich. Fell in love with the song.
That rickenbacker guitar is huge !!!!
Timeless ❤
A rare clip. Thanks for posting
This is very deep song amazingly true listening to the lyrics genius

Best song ever,

Coolest man on the Earth.

In a town called Malice, ooh yeah
A whole street's belief in Sunday's roast beef
Gets dashed against the Co-op
To either cut down on beer or the kids new gear
It's a big decision in a town called Malice, ooh yeah
The ghost of a steam train echoes down my track
It's at the moment bound for nowhere just going round and round
Playground kids and creaking swings
Lost laughter in the breeze
Could go on for hours and I probably will
But I'd sooner put some joy back in this town called Malice, yeah ooh
In this town called Malice, yeah
In this town called Malice, ooh yeah
MODS.... Forever ✌️
Rick must have been born holding drumsticks such a natural terrific drummer
Je pense que Stewart Copeland était d'un niveau supérieur.
I know it's mimed, but it's still glorious! Xxx it is still The Jam...xxx
Lovely.
LOVE IT!!! 💜
What a sound,
I can't wait for the new movie
Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can't hurry love
All these years and I never noticed the similarity til you mentioned it. 😄
Never denied.

Me too fucking brilliant!
Pop punk, quintessentially British. Holds up well. Er
Paul doing Steve Marriott style.
It is impossible to listen to this without moving your body😂
feels mo-town vibe in it
Listen to Martha reeves and the vandellas “ready for love” and you’ll hear where the riff came from.

The Modfathers.
Je crois que Paul Weller a mis fin à l' histoire juste après.

This tune only just Barnsley on the map and not Billy Elliott
Great song. I wish they weren't lip synching.
why play the organ sound with a synthesizer
it's not a synth, it's a rare Kustom combo organ, I believe....

Real bands refuse to mime their songs...
I don't think they had an option. If the tv show's policy is to mime- what can you do. I suppose you would call it an evil necessity! 🙂
