The genuine joy and emotion you show when eating food that excites you is the reason I keep coming back and watching your videos. We don't have much in my area in the way of Asian and Chinese foods other than the usual Chinese takeaway that has been anglicised for our tastes. Definitely couldn't handle all that chilli oil myself!

When you get back, please get some of the tres leches cakes from Tres Lecheria/Cube bakery! You need to order them to go on line and pick them up curbside. Sooooooo good!!!!

Hey Mikey, glad to see you enjoyed my neighborhood! That hot pot place started out as a Farrelles Ice Cream Parlor, decades ago. Speaking of which, I completely agree with your opinion of Snoqualmie's lavender ice cream.
There was a place in Pacific Mall Toronto (hasn't reopened yet in stage 3 but I think their standalone restaurant is open) called Papa Changs that does good Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the mince pork over rice. I also tried the cold noodle and pork burger spot that Mikey went to, and it is good. My uncle does his own silk tofu and soy milk, its fantastic fresh. Absolutely no comparison.
I can't wait for the Pacific Mall to reopen. I only got to go there once before everything hit (I'm 3.5 - 4 hrs away, so it's a big day trip) but I loved just wandering around and getting things I can't get in London; don't get me wrong - I love my Food Island but I can't get all of the Japanese stuff I like, mostly the Korean and Chinese stuff though.
When people asked how you can spend all day eating, I don't think they meant how do you mentally spend all day. We're wondering how in the heck you can PHYSICALLY eat all that stuff and still keep going. Its mind blowing.
I had this kind of hotpot in Chongqing. It's called 九宫格 (Nine squares) and I think it's a specialty there. And they don't ever change the broth base, or so I've heard.
Here are names of a few restaurants for you to try if you are ever south of Seattle. They are in Tacoma and Puyallup. First Puyallup, the only Chinese restaurant that I love. Family owned forever. House Of Kee. Then in Tacoma, Thai restaurants that are really good. They all have different things on the menu. Indochine, downtown Tacoma. Then Wild Orchid, then Silk Thai. All great places. You can look at their web sights for their menus. Love your podcasts.
No idea how he handles the spice(and heat!) but it looks and sounds so tasty. Great idea, different chambers except sometimes you want the foods to blend so they season your broth. But yum!!🌿

I had some spicy instant miso ramen. Nothing as spicy as Mikey would have it, but just up to my tolerance. So punishingly good.
