    I'm relatively new to the M50 and your videos have given me quite a few tips, thanks for your hard work. I use 4 of these cameras in my studio, as well as a C100, and they're great. I picked up the 22mm f2 and its my main "talking ahead" lens now. Cheers!

    I'm glad you did a review of this lens since It was included when I bought my camera. I now use it (instead of the kit lens) for all my talking head videos because it does a better job of blurring the background. I like your reference to this lens being a "friend" lens. I also use it for portrait photos

    I shot an entire indoor video on the 11-22mm with M50, and it looked crisp on the camera, but once on the PC, there was so much noise! I had to re-shoot it all with the 22mm...the extra light made all the difference.

    I use an M50II alongside a 5DIV and 90D. It does my gimbal work... and more! I've enjoyed the EFS 24 pancake lens (with adapter), but I've love to replace it with the 22 in order to fully benefit from the amazingly small size. The focal range and IQ are not appreciably different; here, it's all about ergonomics, and for that I love the M series.

    I love my 22 mm lens for indoor shots. The f2 makes it so much easier to work with indoors than the kit lens. Of course, I've used the kit lens indoors but the extra light of the f2 makes it so much easier and is a good compromise between the 15 and 45 mm extreme ranges of the kit lens too. If only the 11-22 mm wide-angle lens were an f2, now that would be a serious walk and talk vlogging lens. It's still pretty good as is but the extra light would be a huge help. Great video.

    • @Captain-Cosmo
      @Captain-Cosmo 2 года назад +2

      If you want a brighter zoom, consider a speed booster and a full-frame lens just for indoor stuff. A 0.71x adapter will "open up" an f4 lens to f2.8, an f2.8 to f2, and an f1.8 to f1.2. Meanwhile, the focal range performs very closely to original as if it were on a full-frame camera. For example, a 16-35 f2.8 L offers a FF field of view of 18-40, a 24-105 becomes 27-120, and a 70-200 becomes 80-228.

    I would highly recommend this lens. I basically use it for all my talking head studio shots. Auto-focus on this works great and shallow depth of field is good even in a small room. I was hoping that you would have done some low-light testing of this lens. For future videos I am interested in comparing this to the Sigma 16mm and seeing if the image quality is any better.

On another topic, I would love to see a comparison of the 22mm with the Canon 35mm F/2 IS USM with Viltrox Speed Booster on the M50, shooting at (effective) F/1.4. What would that look like?

    how does this compare to the native 11-22mm ?

    • @TheCrowleyCrew
      @TheCrowleyCrew  2 года назад

      It is a little sharper and has a much brighter image and shallow depth of field at 22mm

    I like the sigma better, but the 22mm is a better lens for travel.....

    Job,
    Right now I predominantly use the Canon 24mm F 1.8 (EF-S) with a Commlite EF to EF-M adapter for live streaming, etc. Do you think my audience would notice the subtle change in FOV? For me, it would be nice if I could get the camera a little closer to me, but not $300 CAD, unless my audience would get a better experience, you know?
    Also, Curtis Judd was kind enough to take a look at my setup in his live stream today (ruclips.net/video/mqUlBNkl7s8/видео.html) and a couple of folks, including Curtis, recommended I bump up the saturation. I use your neutral colour profile right now. Can you recommend a tweak that will help? Thanks!
    Rob

    Hey man, absolutely love your content. Its helped me so much with my inline skating channel (filming on the m50).
    Please could you recommend a lens for filming a skater (filmer also on skates) doing a line of tricks? You can checkout my last video if you want a demo of what i mean (shameless plug 🤣).
    Am i better off getting a lens for my m50 like the 22mm or should i invest in a gopro? What do you think?

    I’ll just stick with my Sigma 16mm 1.4.

      The Crowley Crew Yeah, I really was having a hard time justifying the purchase. I really can’t justify it, but bought it anyways. I just find that I use that lens more than my kit lens. The image is pretty great and I love the bokeh! I also love having a larger lens to hold onto compared to the tiny kit lens.

    I’ve been using this lens for all of my filming. Used it for my latest backpacking trip to West Virginia and it worked great:
