I was sold until you said no SD card slot. A "business" phone needs to have upgradable and removable external storage.
Odd choice considering that the phone has a Dual Sim tray. My Note 20 Ultra's tray has 1 Sim + 1 SIM/SD card
How is it a collaboration when Lenovo owns Motorola I mean Lenovo: make this. Motorola: ok.
I don’t think you know how businesses work. Even if it is owned by Lenovo they are still a different legal entity
I run a couple they're still owned by Lenovo they are still a subsidiary of Lenovo moto still has a lot of say in what they make Lenovo also owns the think line as in Thinkpad thinkbook and you missed the point one it was a joke two if Lenovo said we want you to make this then they will
They usually make separate products. Moto actually is the main smartphone manufacturer. In moto phones there's no branding of Lenovo, but in Lenovo phones you would find moto branding. Same here.
Lenovo owns Motorola but Motorola isn't call Lenovo ok !

How could you being a tech journalist forgot that now Motorola is owned by Lenovo. Also, they acquired "ThinkPad" IP & consumer computers division while IBM transformed into B2B & corporate solutions.
The ThinkPhone isn't a collab, it's more like Lenovo trying to fit in Blackberry's shoe.

The thing that appeals to me most about this phone is that it's not a glass sandwich! I hate glass backs. It still has wireless charging too!

Business phones should have stylus and memory card reading capabilities . But tbh all phones are pretty much the same now . Everything can be done with apps . So it would've been cooler if they had better software that are specifically targeted towards businessmen( I don't know what kind of software that could be either lol)
Stylus probably, but memory card not so sure. At least from cyber security's perspective. File transfer should go through secure channel rather than an offline reader, also a pain to make sure everything is encrypted.

Now I wished Blackberry was around. They would've made an interesting business phone. Still, this seems interesting tho probably not too different from a Motorola phone. I'll wait for reviews on this bad boy
Competition leads to innovation. I'd even like to see Windows phones back in the game. We have two "choices".
I am pretty sure most Blackberry owners migrated to Apple not realising it was a closed garden. I am so glad my only Apple product is a budget iPad.

I think we BB nuts should start a crowdfunding campaign and bring bb10 back on minimalistic work-focused phones. Legend has it that they sold the IP rights to a SPAC which is surely interested to monetize it.
Blackberry is still around, they just went back to their core buisness of providing server security. Same with the US motorola, while Lenovo makes motorola branded phones, motorola solutions (a separate company) makes the cameras and radios for police as they did before they made their phones.
Honestly it just sounds like this is just a branding thing, you can tell by the size of the 'Think' logo on the back. It's fundamentally not much different from having the Hasselblad branding on a oneplus device.
I don't see how this has anything special for business users that you can't already get from any other phone. At least the old blackberry business devices had physical keyboards. This thing? It doesn't even have expandable storage or a headphone jack.
most people don't know Motorola is a Lenovo company (Lenovo bought Motorola years ago from Google) therefore Motorola=Lenovo (same company)

In the current Android and iOS generation no need of any Business phone as it does not offer anything new... Everything mentioned in business phone is already available in normal Android phones.

Just ordered $324 from Motorola for that price this phone is a steal. Great performance, amazing battery life, nice screen, and hopefully a few years of updates!
Should have leaned way harder into it being a portable desktop with Ready For. Could have rolled out a Thinkpad X1 Nano-style lapdock to use with it.
I really don't get the point of this phone, it's an android phone running Motorola's skin with lenovo branding.
Lenovo owns motorola, so they just wanna experiment if they can succeed with phones under their own brands. Nothing against Lenovo, their stuff is great!

I am using my 4th Thinkpad and I daily have 2 Motorola G9 Plus on me. I like the ThinkPhone, the only thing I see as a con is that it has no headphone jack.

As a Motorola Edge 30 Ultra user, I would have loved having the GG Victus, a flatter screen, and a programmable button, along with durability certification. At the same time, my phone is great. And this addition by Motorola/Lenovo gives hope for the future software development that must be keep up for upgrades.
I know I have the same phone as you I think the battery life is great though better than Edge 30 Ultra
This is very reminiscent of the Blackberry. Which, I absolutely loved. Not an iPhone guy... I might actually get this phone if it has the same feel.

I was so into it until I heard no sd card expansion and no jack. Men will there be a decent phone in 2023 with those 2 features (+ DAC would be awesome), good battery life and IP68 /MIL 810H that doesn t exceed 6". I guess I m dreaming. Still waiting to replace my Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact but can t find anything like it anymore with sound hardware

Currently just upgraded to Moto Stylus 5G but may swap one out for the ThinkPhone if it pairs up seemlessly with the Yoga Tab and 3i
Decent phone, but I wonder what makes it a "business phone"? Software updates? Eh, even that is only 3 major versions according to the article.
Lenovo owns Motorola, Motorola is just it's phone division, with a proper team etc.
I think the phone is brilliant. If they can assure that privacy is preserved, this may be a winner.

How they missed the refresh rate on this phone?
Because 90/120Hz it is a battery eater. I dropped down to 60Hz on my Samsung phone because it is good enough for most content consumption.
I seen a article said it's supposed to have a 144hz refresh rate

Hello all.
I've been using CAT phones for my business in Canada but have constantly been disappointed with their performance.
I am looking for a business phone that is rugged, updatable without degradation, capable of running robust businesses apps particularly Outlook with numerous accounts, works seamlessly with PTT applications, can handle multiple media intensive applications such as RUclips, CCTV applications, Teams and more.
It seems with CAT phones they are out of date the moment they arrive in the box.
How many of you have used the Motorola Think phone in the real world?

Real world use it runs fine. I have gps on for 10 hours a day at no lag or overheating. Battery last extremely long even with gps and it quick charges in like 15 minutes. It's insane .
Another option nokia xr21
The only downside when it's really hot has a hard time charging to 100% but you can turn it off it will charge fast. It's a great phone
Need rugged phone like Nokia XR20 with good smooth Android great camera like Google Pixel. Hope this ThinkPhone is the answer. And hope Thinkphone not B2B only. Cant wait. 😅

Why would you make a business phone without an sd slot (for obvious reasons) an audio jack for those that need to teams without wireless headphones and ideally a stylus, for those that well... Use it for work stuff. Why oh why does no one make a phone that I actually want. Its ludicrous.

What is your experience after 6 months?
@@MatijaBozanic well, I gave mine back last month so not quite full 6 month. Overall it was a good experience. Battery time was good but accessories for the ThinkPhone are a pain in the a.. Motorola shipped 3 of the cases (the ones included in the box) because two of them broke while shipping. Getting good accessories is impossible because there are non. The only thing you can get are low quality aliexpress stuff so no real good case for protection. Our company returned their full batch of ThinkPhone for that reason. Device itself is good, camera mid range performance but everything else like monthly updates were on time.

Motorola is slowly getting its mojo back.
The problem with moto phones is that you will not find a good tempered glass or a cover for their phones.
If Truly say, that I want a scientific phone with various new capabilities, like real time air pollution checking, chemical composition cheking in various things......etc ........

Wait for the battery life test. Motorola just like ex LG-mobile are notorious for poor battery life.
It's as if unoptimised Android wasn't bad enough. Motorola added its own battery draining features and buggy software.
I just purchased the edge 2023. I liked it a lot but this think phone is now cheaper and specs destroy the edge. I'll be returning the edge. It's a no brainer.

I Dont trust Lenovo/Motorola For Lenovo ThinkPhone's MIL-STD-810H Certification Because I Think Screen Could Break Easily Becuase it does not have Raised Lip And Has Slightly Curved Edges So I Do Not Think It Is Rugged At All...

So this is just another Android phone in ThinkPad theme. Booring.
I was a longtime BlackBerry user because of their great OS and physical keyboard.
After that I have switched to iPhone 6s because of their best touch keyboard implementation.
The older iPhones has pressure sensitive display which was perfectly used in keyboard functionality for moving a cursor or even selecting text when pressing the keyboard/screen harder.
Now even iPhone ditched this awesome functionality so I am stuck to old iPhones :/
