- 2022 Hyundai i30N DCT Review: Even Better Than Before?
A few years ago I had my first taste of the Hyundai i30N and I was very impressed by what the South Korean brand had to offer. Fast forward to the present day and it's back with a facelift model. That means a nip tuck, lighter alloys, and also the option for lighter seats as well.
The same 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine is to be found under the bonnet, but it's been poked with a stick to make it more angry. It now offers 280hp along with 393Nm of torque, both of which are an increase on the old model. 62mph can be achieved in just 5.4 seconds if you go for the new 8-speed DCT, and if you go for the 6-speed manual, it's 5.9 seconds - both cars are limited to a top speed of 155mph.
Prices start from around £34,000 for the manual, and just below £36,000 for the DCT, and there's plenty of standard kit. Standard kit includes N styling, 19” forged alloys, LED lights, keyless entry, heated front seats which are also electronically adjustable heated steering wheel, dual zone climate control, wireless phone charging pad, 10.25” touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, navigation, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera and a decent amount of safety kit.
There’s also a 5 year warranty, which extends to track usage, so you can hook about on a race circuit safe in the knowledge Hyundai has got your back.

Sunday night upload from Aaron, awesome. I30n, awesome.
👍
This and a G63AMG might be a perfect garage.
You said it " it puts a smile on your face" This car has so much character is so much fun to drive out of the box. I have had mine since last August in Premium DCT and makes my old 2019 WRX look boring, sounds boring and is boring to drive. I have never owned an auto car before this but the DCT is brilliant. I now look forward to getting in my car again :-) Keep up the good reviews.
Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback 👍
Great review mate. Really want pull the trigger and purchase now.
Hello Degan, thanks for watching and thanks for the great feedback! 👍🏽
Great review! Just ordered mine in February, waiting for a manual in shadow grey. I picked up I30 instead of Yaris GR simply for the space onboard and the fact that I don't like that much the 3 cilynders layout and the fake sound in cockpit. Don't get me wrong,Yaris GR is a great car,but for every day use I prefer this. And I preferred manual shifting just for the taste of "old school" driving feel, even if the DCT is a simple joy.
Hi there, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 👍🏽.
Me too...I did the same choise and reasoning...I'm waiting for a MT with Performance Pack in Phantom Black ....💪🏻
Another great review... How does it compare to the gr Yaris you drove? Which would you buy out of the two??
The i30N is a great car, don't get me wrong, but I think the GR Yaris is a future classic for sure, The GR has something very special about it, and I would definitely have that over the i30N. Thanks for watching.
I love these cars and hope to get one in the future🤞. I know you said the ride is fairly firm in normal but is it too firm for daily use or is it comfy enough?
Hi Chris, thanks for watching. As long as you don't have the dampers set to the 'N' setting I think you'll be able to use this every day 👍🏽.
The N light seats nail the driving position. I'm 6'1" and I have the seat raised slightly, never done that in a car before aside from a test drive in a boxter.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment 👍🏽
NGS isnt used for 0-100 😅 it gives you 10HP and 30NM extra for 20secs and selects the best gear to start from according to your current speed. 100-200 it helps me to achieve about 12,2-12,3 instead of 13s
If it gives you extra 10hp and 30Nm would that not help in a 0-62?
enjoyed the review can you tell me in England do the dealers have sales booklet on this model, in Australia you cannot get booklet on this model, as earlier models booklets were available, regards john
Hi John, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment. I'm afraid I'm not of the answer as the car did not come from a dealer, it came direct from Hyundai's press office.
thank you regards john
That car ticks all the right boxes for a hot hatch .👍
Hi Steve, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 👍🏽
Have you tried the N-Drive yet?
The N driving mode? Yes, I have, thanks for watching.
