    I am an owner of this exact car, for about 1 year now. Your review is spot on. Shame there was no footage in N mode with all the sound on, but this car is fantastic without all the drama too. The spec in this video is the lightest you can order. No sunroof, optional sport seats and the 6 sp manual.
    I drove the DCT and Manual and the manual was an easy choice that I have never regretted. It is a joy to be able to drive the car as I want. I know the DCT is terrific and see it as a perfectly good choice for those that want it. The 6sp also lightens the front end beautifully.
    I like the analogue cluster and the minimalist interior. I live in New Zealand and most of the European competition in the hot car market is SIGNIFICANTLY dearer with much higher maintenance cost. That was a factor in my choice.
    I got this car for the driving experience and it delivers 100% on that. Never fails to deliver a wide grin when attacking a windy road. Plenty of epic roads near me to take this out on.

      Hello! how do you find this car to drive in town or on freeway? Is it hard, I mean, does it have a hard suspension? Is it comfortable? Also, what's your consumption?

    • @silo_fx3182
      @silo_fx3182 Год назад +1

      @@gportech Great questions. In full N mode suspension is beyond firm to ridiculous. Fine on REALLY smooth surfaces (great in fact). In 'normal' mode it is lovely to be in. 19in wheels and low profile tires always going to be on the firm side, but this is a hot hatch. Its what you want. Lovely on highway and round town. Apparently series 2 is much improved over series 1.
      I am metric, about 10L/100 round town. Can be less. Drops easily to low 7s on a long open road trip. Can see 6s. Not bad IMO for all this power and joy.

      I have the 2022 DCT hatch, only went the DCT as wife can’t drive a manual and driving to and from work in Sydney traffic with a set of lights every 100metres… otherwise I would of chose a manual.. I do miss driving a manual but the DCT is pretty awsome 👍🏻 love the car

    Seeing as the new Type R (FL5) is £47,000 and limited to 300 in UK. I can see the i30n filling the gap that the old FK8 type R used to occupy when it was £34,000-£36,000. Would be cool if Hyundai allowed you to match the steering wheel N buttons to the exterior colour.

    Got one arriving soon, the engine actually uses the same block as an Evo X but with a closed deck. Facelift models map really well too with the new turbo and baseline dyno runs on stock cars has shown they produce more power than official figures suggest.

    The once loved VW Golf GTI is dead in my country Australia. Nobody buys those rip off cars anymore but many Kona N, i30n hatch and sedans on the road.

      It's because the new GTI is shit and overpriced. Too refined and less performance oriented. Soulless

    Why dont you realise, the GR is a rally car built for the rd, not a road car that gets built for rally. GR is homologation car

    No digital dials? These still look cheap considering the price isn’t .

    • @silo_fx3182
      @silo_fx3182 Год назад +2

      That is the point. Buyers of this car (like me) do not want digital dials. Its the last of old school analogue and tremendous because of it. Ironically, the analogue clusters are dearer as a unit than the digital.

      Price difference between the two is shocking. I’d rather have the N - more bang for buck. Is the Type R exciting? Yes. Is it 20-25k more exciting? No.
