Those Riks are always played with a pick and super bright roundwound strings, and they have that sound. What a revelation to hear that sweet fingerstyle bottom end from a Rickenbacker. I now want one!
Especially as they age, the Rick lows get quite dull (as the magnetism of the pickups go away). Unless you have a very vintage amp, these basses are very bright and can be a struggle to fit in a mix (I've got a '79 4001 and '94 4004)
Norm you are the best, you have the coolest guitars and friends. Thanks for mentioning Michael and Roberto are available for hire as studio musicians. 👍😎🎸✌️
Superb playing and bass!! Yes indeed, through- necks sound smoother and a bit compressed (bolt- on’s and set necks are punchier). Ric’s also have a slightly shorter scale length- 33.25. The history of Rickenbacker in the 50s and how it intertwines and clashes with Fender is fascinating.
You know while it's not my first, my 4003 that I got on sale for 1800 bucks, is kind of disappointing, I had one in 1986 and it was great. I had to sell it for rent. Damn. My new one buzzes on the fret board an the jack has already given out. I guess like Fender they got cheaper over time to cut costs. I prefer to play my P bass, or my Jaguar bass. This was not the case in 86. I loved that bass and my bandmates said it sounded better than the Fender, as I play with a pick. It was set up when I bought it 6 years ago by Sam Ash who closed all their stores and now does an internet only business. I suppose I should find someone who can set it up.
Hallelujah Something other than a Fender or Gibson. And better still one of my favorite bases of all time. More of the same, please, with some of the less popular. But not inferior brands. Guilt for acoustics Gretchen for electric. Maybe even a Hoffner.
I have a 4003 Rick and took my sticker off, but I keep it in my owner's manual. Yeah, I don't know this obsession with keeping the sticker on. A few said it was because the players like to make it known it's American built. To me that sounds silly.

What’s with people leaving that US flag sticker on the scratch plate on Rickenbackers? Love the playing of these two bosses.

I can't help but respect them for never doing a budget line
Maybe to distinguish it from a copy made overseas, and is an "original" Rik.
👍✌❤😎
As a bass player wanting to hear the bass, I couldnt because it was drowned out by the guitar. But, very cool session.
🥃😜🤪😝
I won't that Bass so bad 😈
Odd, that Roberto didn`t demo the clang, which the Ric is famous for. He only played with subdued tones, at low volume.
Ulgh. More treble. 😅
Ok ! Fatter getting Lemo comes into classic tones and out of his wired making around !
But all in all to much jazzmaster‘s in last times
I found my band . See you soon .Don Wayne
