I like this "Thursday Band" thing that you guys have concocted. Plus you get to showcase another guitar. Win-Win
The show is getting better & better & better. I see lots of possibilities where this show can go. Without wavering far from its origins. 🤙This was excellent youthful energy.🤙🤙🤙Ace🤙
Hello Gino..have a happy father's day..Curtis..
I too prefer the new “team effort “ on Thumpin Thursday. Good job guys!!
Song 1: Taxman - The Beatles
Song 2: Dig A Pony - The Beatles
Song 3: For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica
Such a gorgeous bass, man, it sounds so good. I also agree 100% with Todd's statement at the end, Cliff Burton is one of the greatest bass players of all time and he's one of the guys that made me want to buy a Rickenbacker
Andrew Pappas Would have been cool to hear some Stone Roses. I can’t recall seeing anybody but Mani playing one of these.
Splestrie I also believe that John Entwistle used a 4005 during the sessions for _Tommy_ but I’m not too sure
Andrew Pappas He certainly uses a “lightshow” 4005 at some point:

Andrew Pappas
He definitely had one
Mani from The Stone Roses plays a 4005!
Steve V I immediately thought of him when I saw this
Stone Roses is a great band
John Entwhistle also played one briefly.
I just love the sound of a good Rickenbacker bass. Great guitar!
Norm hit the jackpot with this crew! Scary talented, fun to watch and they do those guitars justice! Cool
Thanks for joining Todd. Enjoyed it a lot, I fucking love Rickenbackers. For Whom The Bell Tolls still needs some work but hey, you’re right: Rick bass demos NEED cliff riffs.
I like these new segments of guests and duos on thumpin Thursday. Gotta love the laughs in these vids makes my day
I like the idea of these guys playing together on Thumpin Thurs.
And Thumpin Thursday gets a new attitude. Cool beans man. 😎
Damn i’ve looked forward to this Day! The day they played the Beatles, in guitar of the Day! Even at their signature instruments. Love Them 2 togethers!!!
That thing is super cool!
Guitars make bass-videos SO much more watchable.
Toxic Potato gotta boost our egos some way since our guitar skills don’t do the tricks :>
so, as Tod asked for some extra info these guitars, to my best knowledge the blend knob is there because the neck pickup runs super loud in comparison to the bridge pickup, so they have the blend there to match the volumes of both pickups.
In terms of what’s actually going on, looking at schematics it seems like there’s an extra volume pot on top of the volume pot the pickup has, but i could be wrong
ADDITION: The blend knob is a 500kΩ potentiometer, whereas the volume/tone controls are 330kΩ pots
Thumpin’ Thursday is Rocking & A Groovin’❗️
I actually like this a lot. Thanks Lemmo and Lammo!
Gorgeous bass. I have never seen one like that.
Brilliant guys......Thank you.
Rickenbacker should bring this bass back! I’d buy one!
They just have.
Beautiful bass and a fine showcase of Pul's bass abilities 👍
For whom the bell tolls is my favorite Beatles song
Partial to Blackened in the USSR with a close second being Got To Get You Trapped Under Ice
Gosh what a channel
Thanks MEN!
Great idea for "Thumpin' Thursday" ,always have a guitar too ! Good stuff Odd and Lame-O ! ;-) Thanks Jen !
Thursday band with Todd is awesome. Keep it up boys 👍
4:33 is such a wholesome moment
John Entwistle had the Lightshow 4005.
Thumping Thursday band is officially a HIT with a Rickenbullet !!
Damn what a great sounding Bass.
The fact that y'all were able to book the Edibles at Night 2 weeks in a row is Awesome...
Maybe next week if we're lucky they'll hit us with their new vocalist Sweet Jen...
My wife actually comes into the room and watches Guitar of the Day now with me.She likes these guys as well as Todd's skills on bass. Side comment ( You don't even miss that other guy) lol No offence to the other guy
great bass , very cool shape , and wow are those p/u's a long way apart , but what cool sound , I think the hollow body lends itself better to bass than guitar , just has that deep sort of far away boom to it , especially good for the 60's RnR stuff like the Beatles , well done Todd , nice casino also , thanks guys.
Mani from The Stone Roses played a Rick 4005!
Lamo and Odd: nice musical team :)
its called a fluke! like a Gibson SG...
@@barrysoetoro1543 Hey, I like the SG!
Fantastic, keep on doing this bass guitar combo on thumping Thursday. What a beautiful bass, I am sure it is sold...
Excellent. If you could only have one bass it’d have to be this one, beautiful.
Great combo and format. Can’t go wrong with the Beatles
Edibles at Night you guys Rock!
Excellent jam!
YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!
Best bass tone of the show! Wow
Fantastic. And is there a better argument than Taxman that Paul was the most underrated bassist in rock history?
George played bass, Paul was lead guitar on 'Taxman'. But it was a pretty good argument for Paul being the best guitarist in The Beatles. Yeah, I said it. Take your shots!
@@celyda2 george and john on rhythm guitars, paul on bass and overdubbed guitar solos
@@thesonmister Thus, it's an argument for both.
How is he underrated
Dk bout underrated but he's a damn good bassist either way.
John Entwistle can be seen playing this bass in a video for the song "Tommy, Can You Hear Me?" and it does sound like it is used on the actual recording.
I think he used it, along with his "Frankenstein" P-Bass, on The Who's "Tommy" album.
What was his Frankenstein p-bass, or more specifically why was it called that? You’re not referring to his “Fenderbird”, are you?
Sweet bass-- well done!
Great job!
That was great!
I'm with jo mamma, I love the musical copulation of both of you, two different styles and personalities that that go great together. kind of like the human Reeses cup :)
Totally Todd killed it. I'm sold. Now to find enough money to buy the bass and learn to play bass.
Work of art man ✌️
Who fan rolling in. : I know John Entwistle used these for a very short time. I've seen one of his in a nice maple glo finish and another 4005 in a very special light show configuration. I've never seen a light show ric bass ever and it's the only one I've ever known to be in existence. Current location is unknown but Rickenbacker might have one of them on display at HQ.
EDIT : Rickenbacker themselves probably don't own any. I've found that only 3 we're ever made as prototypes. One was in fact used by John. And it's current whereabouts are also in fact unknown. One of them recently sold for a total of about 85 grand. The value of these three precious jewels only growing. Also. Not all of them had toasters. I have no idea what other pickups could've been used.
EDIT 2: I nearly forgot that there's live footage of John using both of these on his solo gigs. Always glad to utilize my Who knowledge. Have a good one everyone!!! :)
@mgpixlab that's great man. Yeah I have to buy that book already haha.
Gorgeous Ricky!
John Entwistle with The Who used a 4005 in the early days. I know where there’s one for sale in Scottsdale, I played it and it has checkered binding, too. Great pluckin’ on that bass! Did you know that Yoko wrote some of the lyrics to I Dig A Pony? Nice tribute to Cliff.
And remember, Yoko co-wrote "Imagine." Lennon later conceded it was pure sexism that left her off the co-writing credit. Significantly her lyrics.
Greg, Yes, I’ve met Yoko and she’s a courageous, powerful and creative woman not to be underestimated. She is so strong to have endured so much shame, not deserved at all. Probably everyone in the band could tell you she wasn’t the cause of The Beatles’ breakup.
@@digitalbrand5510 Wow, I envy you. I've been a fan of her's for decades.
Nice job! I me mine was sweet... This is really working out... Keep up the nice work! Thanks guys, Thanks Norm!
Dig a Pony?
Doooo, thanks...
Roger Klotz is his name from Doug
Bruce Foxton of The Jam sometimes played a Rickenbacker bass, although his was a 4001, not a 4005.
You should play a Jam tune, but you played The Beatles Taxman, which sounds a lot like The Jam's Start. 😁
jspaceman71 Has there ever been a Paul Weller song on GOTD? Don’t think so...
Holy crap! I enjoyed a "Thumpin' Thursday" ............Good job!
Entwistle used one. Steve Miller’s bassist Lonnie Turner played one lefty upside down.
Noel Gallagher plays one on Go Let it Out. Also in the music video.
Neil MacLellan I was going to post that as well. Favourite band of all time.
@@shakrmakr x23233424 fuckin great band!
Lovin it
Would love to know things like neck profile, nut width and weight. Thx
That was almost a J.J. Burnel tone towards the end there! 👍
Oww Eee Ohhh, Killer of Tofu! The Green guy in Doug was named Roger by the way. Great job!
Orange hair leather jacket jerk
dig a pony is the last song i'd expect in a guitar demo but its such a great tune it was a nice suprise
Dig a Pony was purrrrty goooood.
Awesome. Good vibe muy bueno
Every Thursday. Keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
OK Norman this is one of the really good episodes! Thanks guys sounds so good! Hi Jen
Loved the Beatles ,you guys could kill come together...
very nice.
I live for thursdays!
Ric Basses R Da Bomb..
Word.......
That must be a very rare Bass I’ve been playing bass for 30 years and I’ve never seen or known about this model Rick bass before.Killer 60s tone to it is it a short scale you didn’t say it sounds like it is😃
I had a later version from the mid 70s in black. From what I remember the scale length was the standard 34 in. The pickups on mine were a different version and didn't sound near as good as the toaster ones like the ones on this one. I ended up trading in on something else
Damn that's a pretty bass
All the goofiness aside, the song selection is the pinnacle of class. 👏👏👏
I am normally not a huge fan of Thumpin Thursday but this one was good. I really enjoyed the engery and keep up the good work.
Ediblesssss aaatttt nnniiiiiiggghhhhtt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well Todd, you really are doing well and coming in to your own here...BUT! How you ended this episode...pure class and respect! Very nicely done! And your playing is very cool and well done (on both bass and guitar) kudos bro! Great jobs guys!!
I love this show, but PLEASE mic up the amps instead of recording the ambient noise.
The lines he copped were superb but the finger noise was absolutely maddening. Maybe the high mids weren't scooped.
Nice to see a bass played with no plectrum!
Bass is awesome, but I love the Lennon casino.
Best ever!!
i haven’t clicked on a video this fast in my life honestly
That is a tasty bass!
FINALLY A RICKIE
love Rickies
Yes! Please do Killer Tofu!
Love the Thursday band special and the Beets reference lol.
Gotta keep this Thumpin’ Thursday duo goin’. Lovin’ every minute of it. How about some Thin Lizzy for the next one?!?!?! And, would love to hear some Dire Straits or Knopfler on GOTD - please and thanks! ✌🏼🎸
You played Dig a Pony. 👏 one of their best
and one of my favs. Sounded great. I understand they were featuring the bass, but it would have been cool for Michael to throw in some of the fills/ licks and a little more volume. BUT, it was very cool nonetheless.
When will they bring out a reissue of the 4005 🤯
Check out the new 4005cx
I want to see Lemmo and Todd on Thumpin Thursday play some Wild Cherry.... you know the song funky white boys.
That back binding tho AF
Sweet
John Entwistle used that bass throughout the tommy era of The Who
You know what Pete Townsend said when the told him John died?
"WHAT"
Good stuff!
WHOA AN EDIT
Great job as usual keep up the good work I love watching and listening
Never even knew these existed.
Whats the song at 7:28?
don't usually care for the bass, that bass is absolutely stunning! alexandra daddario in a red dress.
Who doesn’t know that Roger Klotz is Doug’s nemesis?
