LOL I'm 39 and looking at going to the National Guard. Prior service.
Age waiver for 37 here. Army. Had to get at least a 50 on ASVAB. Waiver was approved. Achieved an 82 on ASVAB. Full MEPS approval. I leave for basic in about 2 months. It's possible people! 👍
How did it go??
Well? How was it?
Great. Ft. Moore. 19D Cav Scout! e3
@@MysteeriusFrendwow, year later still good. Biggest adjustments coming in later?
@@generalinbox3740 the age difference of me being older for my rank. But promotions come quicker. Your "boss" can waive standard promotion requirements if you kick ass. It's pretty easy to stand out in a good way when almost all of your battle buddies are 18-25 and you're pushing 40 (maturity level & work ethic). I have no complaints. 👍
I'm 27 and all I've done in my life is jump from job to job because I don't feel fulfilled in what I'm doing I've always wanted to join a branch of the military but never did due to me trying to find something normal...but now I feel like the military will do me well and put more structure in my life...
Awesome. If you do it good luck. Don't be scared to ask questions if you're curious about anything. I joined older myself
This is me man . Feel an emptiness with these jobs

35 felt the same way man joining the army going to bct in 4 days can’t wait
I just turned 28. College degree. Leaving for basic training August 10 as 11b. I workout and run everyday . I look forward to meeting young and older soldiers soon...this has always been one of my childhood goals to be a US soldier. Taking my challenges head on and having the courage in the darkest of times. My advice to anyone shipping in the future like myself "STAYMOTIVATED"
How’s your military experience been so far?
I was 28 when I joined the Army as a 11B I fractured my hip the first week of OSUT it was tough but I still pushed threw and made it threw I just re-enlisted for my second contract so I’m living proof that it can be done you just have to push your self to reach your goals
Awesome
Mav _ most of my friends are around your age but there’s a lot of young people in the Army
@@mav_4404 I joined at 28 it’s hard to make friends I don’t mind having leaders younger than me cus they are older than me in army years. But get ready for hella immature shit brother .. if you become a pog you will be straight up chilling.. do dog handler or some cool shit
I'll be 35 in 5 days. Is that too old to join?
I’m 27 and signed this month as a 68w in the Guard. Had my first drill today and felt really old with all these 18 years old 😑😂 BUT very little of them couldn’t meet PT and did not get the job they wanted because they did not have the confidence to advocate for themselves. I’m very glad I joined now, I’m older and more confident and I know what I want. So ready for basic in November!
Joined at 38 in 06 at E4. Did three combat deployments: Iraq 08, Afghanistan 2010 and 2012. Got out in 2015 at E6.
I now work for the VA finding jobs for vets. I wish I had joined when I was younger. I would've tried for the full 20+ and retired. Loved every minute of it. Best job I ever had.
What was your MOS?
I'm 36 can I still join the army?
@@zaksilver1858 No. The age limit for the Army, including Reserves and National Guard, is 35. You can join the Naval Reserves that has an age limit of 39.
I feel similar to you. Im 24 soon to be 25 and I regret not leaving to join the marines when I was 17…. I regret it a lot
36 and I leave for basic in a month. Never finished college, and I've spent most of my life playing in bands and working whatever jobs I could find. My local music scene really slowed down after covid, playing in bands just wasn't going anywhere, and I experienced a not so great job change at the end of 2023, so I decided to join the National Guard. I'm pretty excited tbh! I cleaned up my act and I've been working on PT stuff like doing lots of push-ups and running, which is getting easier, and I'm bracing myself for what's going to be a huge change in lifestyle for me. It's going to be tough, but I look forward to crushing it! Older guys can get it done too!!!
Thanks for making videos like this. I've been consuming lots of Army content as of late, and this channel has become a favorite of mine. Cheers!
I'm 27, I was in the Marine Corps for 3 years. I've spent 5 years working in factories and taking care of my dad who had cancer. He's passed on now and I really miss the military. I absolutely loved Marine ITB. I want to be an 11B in the Army.
same boat, did u do it?
30 and I'm signing my contract on the 27th
27 - wanted to enlist my whole life, finally taking care of everything I need to do, glad I got the guidance and experience I was blessed to receive and choose, now I want to piece that together and seek the rest of my journey being the best that I am!

45 seems like a lot but if you were able to better your time I think they should’ve been able to give you a voucher
Planning on enlist in about 2 years , I am 24 in good shape I have a good job and family my wife and daughter but, it’s been my dream to wear the US Army uniform since I was back home in COLOMBIA 🙌🏼
Joined at 17, right out of high school back in 1982. We only had a few guys that were in their 20s. Still, it was the best move of my life.

32 years old prior service leaving for OSUT 11x August 10!!! Let’s get it!!!
Hell yeah get it .send it
Would u have to do basic all over again?
JONATHAN310 Productions It all depends on every prior service members situation. Since I’ve been out more than 48 months i has to get an exemption as well as a waiver because I’m losing my rank which is all good and I was only allowed a three year contract and have to make E-5 before the end or I will be higher tenured. I have to do basic training but I’m looking forward to it all and gonna have some fun

Did it work out for you?
35 and headed to Navy OCS in the spring. Waiting for my designator boards. I’ve made great money, I’ve learned another language, I did work abroad in construction, mining, oil & gas. The biggest thing I’ve learned about myself however are these: I care so little about materialism, I want to serve; and I want to be a part of a wonderful brotherhood. 6 years is nothing. And if I want to stay then I certainly will extend. Even with spinal fusion I can get it done. For now I’m walking/jogging 6 days a week and working out with my Ranger buddy. Love your content buddy. Thank you
Im 34 processing tryna fet in the national guard right now im currently studying for tge asvab and gettimg back in shape my push up strength and sit up strength is coming back to me and im definitely running and jogging alot i just gotta work on my pull ups more tryna get ready to be smoked by the drill surgents at basic training cuz i gotta feeling they gonna be on my azz 24/7 i appreciate the encouragement ben
I leave for BCT in oct, and I will be 27 at this time. 12M. I see most kids out of HS joining for college benefits. I enlisted for myslef, I don't care much for benefits. Bored with my current career. But the main reason is that Im in love in this country. Im from poland and Im naturalized U.S citizen. My enlistment is big "Thank you" for U.S for giving me a chance to live in this great country. Also I picked 12M firefighter because I want to be a part of rescue team
Pallek997 Congrats and best of luck. Much respect to you for joining for those reasons. How’d you swing a 12M contract? They’re incredibly rare according to my recruiter.
This was so eye and heart opening.
I’ve been commissioning in the AF since I was 26, I just turned 28 in Feb and am tired of waiting around for a non-rated board to come up and I might not even get selected since I have a comm degree. So! I gave myself a July deadline to enlist and I’m still trying to decide Army or Air Force. I’ve heard all the reasons why or why not from both branches, but something about the Army speaks to me more. The level of discipline is higher from the outside looking in and their jobs appeal more to me. I’m looking for that shell shock environment and idk if the AF could provide that for me. More money because of BAH and BAS? Sure. But the Army let’s you pick your job and sign for it. (My job currently has a $30k bonus). Knowing 100% what my MOS will be outweighs the extra $$$ the AF could give me. The ONLY thing keeping me second guessing is the fact that at 28 years old, I’ll be in the barracks. I guess I have to let go of my pride lol
I'm 28 and prior service Navy getting ready to ship out to OSUT tomorrow . Im looking forward to the adventure !
I’m 30 prior firefighter/ medic shipping out July 20 think going crush it the run might get me
What mos our you going for
Andre Mathews as Someone who served in the army and then became a firefighter/PM, I gotta say that you just made a terrible life choice my friend. Good luck, and I genuinely hope you actually enjoy it, but why in the world would you give up the greatest career in the world to deal with stupid army bullshit?
You got this !!
Chi26trojans What did you even do in the Army? Maybe homie here decided he needed a change and wanted to do something else. Maybe he’s going out for Regiment or SFAS. Just cause you couldn’t cut your teeth with the rest of em doesn’t mean he can’t. Your experience in the Army in no way, shape or form effects what his experiences will be.
That being said, I hope you have a successful military career, man. Whatever your MOS may be.
Man I’m a paramedic/former firefighter! What mos did you go for?
I’m 22 about to be 23 I’m trying to get my stuff in order before I can enlist my family has a long military background my grandfather served 2 tours in Vietnam I have alot of respect for active and non active service members because of it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my freedom the way I do today if it was not for y’all and my grandfather I thank you all for your service and god bless you all
I'm 26 now just turned 26 today actually. My father had cancer when I got out of highschool and I had to take care of him and work to take care.of my family. I decided to stay home to make sure my family was ok first. I've been terrified of being too old to take this leap and I have wanted this since I was a child it's been my dream.
I am 19 right now, hopefully joining when I am 20 as an infantry. Finally got to my goal weight of 179! I wanted to get my life set together a little bit, understand what I wanted to do and see if the military was right for me!
I'm 28 right now and joining.
I really didn't want to when I was younger, I didn't have any desire at all. But for some reason about 1-1 1/2 years ago I started kind of getting the urge to go. But my wife didn't like the idea. But met a friend now that was a Ranger, another friend that's currently serving... didn't take long for them to talk me into going in.
I'm wanting to go is as a 35P cryptologic linguist. I already speak 1 foreign language fluently, maybe I'll go in with another language.
But I feel like right now I'm much more prepared for the military at 28 than when I was 18-21, I've lived in another country, I've worked jobs of 50+ hours per week, physically demanding jobs. I'm just a lot more physically and emotionally mature now
As for the physical excuses that people have. I literally just had an ACL reconstruction surgery that I'm recovering from to join. I was still able to work out the last 3 years that I've had this shitty knee. I'm good now. Still recovering, but I'm gonna be just fine.
None of those stupid excuses about being older so you can't work out.
25 and looking forward to changing my life big step forward
Talking to recruiter now. Hitting 26 in a few months, I definitely was not ready when graduated high school.
I'm 37, looking to join the Air Guard. I have 7 years of prior service in the Belgian Air Force before moving to Canada and then moving to the US as a permanent resident. I hope to survive doing Boot Camp a second time at my age.
Me I have all for this, training, leadership..but just too older now (lol)..Seriously, I want say it’s a beautiful challenge for the future women and men I encourage everyone for this..Enjoy your video Sir..Thanks for the post
I'm 26 and looking to enlist because of the fact that I genuinely have no idea what to do with my life. I've been working retail ever since I left high school, I never went to college because I was afraid of the debts that would come with it and never had any faith that the things I would've actually been interested in studying would get me anywhere. As one of those people who joins as a shitbag, how best do I not be a shitbag?
I have had my application take 4 years long and am still calling at 25 because I didn’t hear back in pandemic after passing all the testing the first time with no medication or diagnosis. Have an excel sheet ready of all the dates and contacts that I had to this point and am ready for the Member of Parliament to take action.
Awesome video! I’m 29 I’ve been unemployed 2 times in less than 10 years neither were my fault. I was in Jrotc in high school and the desire to join the military never really left me. I leave to Fort Jackson next month.
Lol thanks for the info helps a lot, I was mainly curious because I'm not sure of the age demographics for new recruits. ITrying to join the reserves at 25, I'm taking the asvab Monday. I mainly want to go because civilian life is getting boring, and I want to serve my country before I lose the opportunity to do so.
I'm 28. Since I was a kid, my only plan was to join the Army. Even took the ASVAB at 17 but ended up catching a felony that same year and it hit me hard. I'm getting ready to talk to recruiters soon to try and enlist like I should have 10 years ago. Getting back in shape now.
What happened?
Thanks for this video. I’m 26 thinking of joining and this video helped alot I do push ups work out daily my whole thing is being away from my family but it’ll be fine✊🏿

Just turned 30 - I'm pretty seriously considering going for National Guard or Army Reserves. I never really knew what I wanted to do, but got my Bachelor's Degree (Sociology) and have been working as a Recruiter for the last 4 years making a decent income. Even still, I feel unfulfilled and have a desire for something else, something more, to just be better overall and I think the military may be the place to find these things.

Hello , first time viewer on your channel. I have a quick question, I just turned 40 but looking to join Army National Guard full active duty. I have prior Navy 4 year military service for when I was younger. I was honorably discharged and have a good re entry code on my DD214. Am I able to join still due to my age?
I think the U.S. Army should raise the maximum age limit from 35 to a higher age. I know a lot of people including myself who are in top shape want to join but due to the maximum age limit will not able to. This forces other potential soldiers to join other branches with a higher age limit.
You're able to try and get an age waiver. I was able to.
Get a good ASVAB, pass your physical and request for a waiver
It’s already higher at 42 now, it was 35 before( this is for Army reserve though )
Prior marine corps e4 wanting to go 25b how is it would I keep my rank ?
Yeah i just might
I'll be 33 in October with a 3 year old son and iv been regretting not joining when I was out of school like planned, iv been working oil field jobs since I was 18 and im looking for a change and to join the army or the national guard im not sure what to do really should I just join the national guard since I'm 33 or should I just go all out and join the army plan on taking the asvab come June having a little trouble with the algebra part since I never took it back in school!!
I enlisted at the age of 37. I can only say, PT is over emphasized, but leadership and "heart" is what I had. I had a strange amount of respect. I was trusted but not allowed into the NCO club as soon as I could have because... PT. Holy whatever you are into. Does not indicate "heart".
I hate the end "If you are joining to be a shit bag" Nobody knows what is to sign on the line. Some cannot handle it. Respect to recruits who tapped out. They at least gave it a shot.

Did you join?
How do I take the asvab if I'm already out of school
Age 25+ have more life experience than a 17-23 year old. Which makes a better candidate for military, law enforcement. The being in shape depends how much you work for it age dosent play a role especially if you’re under 35 years old.
20s are the prime years of your life. That person should be running circles around 18-22 year olds. Like you said, depends on if you stayed in shape.
just turned 34 august 3rd and im going to meps on aug 26th. going in as a 68w
Old? Im 31 joining and yes Ima get that airborne🔥🔥🔥
Just turned 30 a few days ago. I’m considering the guard. I’ve been a police officer for the last six years and have a 4-year degree. I’m married have and have a step son. I don’t mean this in a braggadocious way, but I’m well established in life. I make nearly 100k a year, own a nice home, and have a family. Im worried it’ll be a bit of culture shock. I’m in a different spot in life than most. I’d say I’m in excellent physical shape. Any advice?
I’m 34 and leave for OSUT on the 8th. FLW as a 31B. Feel great at my age. Only concern is being away from my wife and son but they understand why I’m doing it.
How did you do?
