I always use a little cleaning vinegar to my dish water when I buy dishes and I wash my dishes in it to makes them sparkling clean and they smell good.
I think that's very nice of you putting things back where they belong. When I was a little girl, my mother used to take me shopping. Every time we took clothing off the hangers we put them back on before we left. TFS Enjoyed your video, yes ma'am more Please. God Bless!
Bleach won't hurt dishes. Just rinse. Lots of people put a few drops in dish pans for washing dishes. Vinegar and baking soda might remove bad scents tho. If not, try closing dishes in a large garbage bag after sprinkling each with baking soda. I was given a book which smelled of something awful. I used the last technique after sprinkling soda thru the pages. It took 6 months but worked. The book and giver were precious or l wouldn't have bothered. Dryer sheets also can work sometimes. I am surprised dishes still smell after washing. Good luck!! As always - loved your ideas!!!
What Is Ironstone? Ironstone china is a glaze-covered earthenware that was first patented by Charles James Mason in 1813 and other manufacturers followed suit. At one point, there were almost 200 makers of ironstone china and they made everything from plates and bowls to tureens, covered casseroles, pitchers, gravy boats and even chamber pots. Most pieces come from England, France and the United States. Although, ironstone's popularity has come in waves, this durable dishware has remained a favorite among antique collectors for decades.
I so admire that you left those wooden things behind because they weren’t quite right. So many times I get over excited and take home things that if I stopped to think won’t work in my house.

Love the little pink box with flowers in the beginning. Trike is so sweet and that funky magazine holder is so fun! Had to add your oil lamp looks great! Sorry about the funky smell with your dishes! Can’t wait to see the cabinets all painted!
Thank you so much! I cleaned them with vinegar and ran back though dishwasher and I don’t smell the funkiness anymore lol. They must have been in someone’s storage for awhile.
I have had the same white dishes, for 40 years. I use 2 caps full of bleach when I wash my dishes. Has never damaged any of the dishes, but I never put any flatware in the bleach water. Fantastic deal on the dishes!!
The wooden box You are looking at is a butterfly house and You hang it outside. Then when the butterflies fly south , You can clean it out from the top. The little drum set is from "Boyds Bears" . They came with a B oyds Bear , red, white, blue. TFS! Judyxx
The boxes you showed, the big one was cheaper than the little one. I have been watching lazy diy, for a while. I love when she goes to those huge places with all kinds of stuff. Some are quit pricey. 🦋💕🦋
Oh my goodness, you sound like a type A just like me :-) It made me smile when you put the 2 pitchers together that matched so someone would see they are a set. I have done that so many times!
Julie, when you find a wood piece that you like - even though it has a "heart" cut out - (I agree, I don't do bears, bows, or hearts)) BUT what you can do, or your "hubby", or the "son-in-law" that refinishes furniture, is TAKE A DRILLING TOOL OR A FILE AND MAKE THE HEART A CIRCLE !...What can be done and what I've done before - just another idea, is to go to a craft store (like "Holly Hobby" or Michaels' ) - and buy a wooden piece in the unfinished section - where you'd buy a box to refinish, birdhouse, plaque...and get a small wooden medallion - they usually have vintage designed pieces, or flower wooden piece large enough to cover the "hole or heart" and simply glue it over the cut out circle or heart...and then paint it all after the wood glue is dry - ALSO, you can still stain the piece added...(the wooden applied piece will not be "flush" to the surface, it will "protrude by only the thickness of the design piece added, but this will only add to the design and finished piece...its better than missing a good buy and the wooden pieces are not expensive at all ! Good thrifting !
Wash the cups that have an odor with bleach and rinse well, wash with lemon and place in sun, should remove any odors. You found some really nice things! 🤗🌸
I can't tell Tanya that you sent me cuz I am already a subscriber to her channel. Funny cuz I had just watched her before viewing your video and she was referring people to your channel! But that's not why I watched. I am a subscriber to your channel too. Enjoy watching both of you. Great video, as usual. Loved your haul and your oil lamp that you had to piece together is beautiful!
I love Afhans and woolen blankets. Nice and warm and good for decoration. Loved those wooden napkinrings. Look at that oillamp. Jeayyy your lamp is complete now!
I always soak my white heritage pfaltzgraff in bleach and hot water. For scratches or silverware marks I use bar keepers friend powder. Just make sure to wash and rinse well.
The canisters you looked at that had the pink Rose's on them, I have a 8 piece setting including the glasses. Love them, in my China cabinet. I've got 1 wexford canister the middle one. I canister find the other 2 any where. But would love too.
A suggestion for the wood candle sconces with the heart cut out - fill the cut out with wood filler, sand and paint. I can’t do the heart cut outs either. Or geese!😉
I like Tanyas channel, that big monthly sale she goes to is fabulous & she's so nice. By the brass candlesticks there was a floral crock, very cool. "Always look up" good advice & video-thank you🎆 That big wicker basket is a good find! The base to the oil lamp would make a cute little vase.🎆
The bleach will not hurt the dishes or you after washing them with the bleach. However, I would run them through the dishwasher on a wash cycle with white vinegar. Use about a cup or more it will get diluted with the water in the wash cycle. Bonus it’s a good way to clean your dishwasher too. White vinegar not only cleans well, but gets rid of odors. I use it in my coffee maker, sink drains and garbage disposal to name a few.
I keep the plastic in my wicker if I’m setting a pot inside. That way it doesn’t ruin the basket if water drains from your plant. Then I put moss around the top to cover the plastic.
I found some great things at Goodwill myself this week. I found some brass candle sticks. I just love brass also got some silver trays. I love your haul. You always have great videos.
Awesome pieces. I found the wooden sconces with the mirror in them like my mom had. I painted and distressed them and hung them on my wall on either side of my vintage window. I’m doing the same as you. If I don’t think I have a place or need for it, I leave it. I did see what you were talking about with the patriotic boxes. Have a great weekend. Happy Valentine’s Day to you. 😊💕
Julie, I COMPLETELY agree with you about the "heart" in the wood pieces. But you should I have started using Plastic Wood to "correct" that issue. It works wonders. It is basically HARDCORE woodfiller or spackle but much stronger. I love it. Great for fixing those huge holes and gaps.
@@ThrilledThrifter oh honey, any home improvement store and Walmart carries it. I usually get it at Walmart only because I buy smaller quantities. I bought 2 child rocking chairs before Christmas for my kids while thrifting and one of them and a partially broken leg so I used that plastic wood to repair that leg. Once it dried I was able to sand and paint and now they play in them and you would never know it was broken.
Great deal getting all the oil lamp parts you need from a spare lamp! Dishes having a smell seems really odd. I'd bleach them anyway & then put them through the dishwasher again. Or you could let them soak in baking soda water. Happy Valentine's Day!

Great haul! Ugh, I went to my local thrift shop and I am regretting not picking up this little picnic basket! It was only $4, but I was not looking for that and passed! Now I am hoping it is there next week when I can go again!! Hahaha I just talked to my son in law and he’s going to go get it for me tomorrow! 😍😍😍

Julie, I’m thinking about all of you in Texas! Hoping you have power! We are snowed in in Indiana, but are somewhat used to that! Hope you and your family are safe!
Thank you so much! We had no power all day but it finally just came back on. This cold is no joke. Thankful for a fireplace. It’s the only thing that saved us.
The larger patriotic drum was priced less than the smaller one. Those two amber glass, footed bowls are vintage (possibly Home Interiors). I have a blue one like them I received as a wedding gift in 1968. Try soaking your Pfaltzgraff dishes in white vinegar and blue Dawn dish soap overnight to remove that odor.
I wouldn't worry about eating off of dishes that have been bleached. Many dishwasher detergents have bleach in them and rinsing should take care of residue.

It was great to see a collaboration between you and Tanya! Your styles are so different but you both have the same passion for thrifting. I never see oil lamps at my thrift stores. I bought one at an antique store last week but price was higher but reasonable. On wood pieces with hearts, it is possible to cover holes with wood putty or Bondo. You tape the back with masking tape and then apply the putty. Let it dry then sand it. I recently saw a how to on Ginger Chick. I used Bondo on a bread box and it came out amazing!
I enjoyed this video!! thanks for all the tips you gave. I love thrifting too so I will be checking out Lazy DIY channel also. THANKS FOR THE RECOMMENDATION!!!
