      The Galactic Empire from Star Wars is invaded by the Great Gamilas empire from Space Battleship Yamato. Do the imperials hold off the assault of these blue skinned invaders or do the Gamilas emerge victorious? And which side would the Rebel Alliance join?
      Even if you don’t do this scenario could you please do something with “Space Battleship Yamato?”

      Well the ISD would have to be at an extremely low altitude for the Iowa to score a hit with its main guns. Depending on the yield of the shells ane the calcs you use for the ISD’s shields a full broadside could do anything from minor damage to causing a cataclysmic reaction that brings the imperial ship down in amazing fashion while “Thunderstruck” blasts in the background.

    I think partially the reason why an attempt like that was never attempted again was for two reasons.
    1. The attack was meant to stir a ruckus in the senate during a specific talk for peace. Using them too often would eventually undermine the clones and by extension Palpatine. If it was an actual war with no Sith meddling then heck yeah they would use them more.
    2. It was a one-trick-pony. After what happened you could assume that all clone guards were required to change up their tactics or detection. You got your pot shot in. But you could never do it again successfully.

    • @lenkagamine4145
      @lenkagamine4145 4 года назад +37

      but making everyone terrified of droids would cripple the economy of many planets and lead to civil unrest too, so in a way making use of the tactic woudl be effective in another sense; all the extra tactics and detection required to counter such a strategy would cost the republic greatly.

    • @JohnDoe-xx8yw
      @JohnDoe-xx8yw 4 года назад +20

      To elaborate on the second point, I feel all Republic shipments of droids, especially from manufacturers affiliated in any way with the CIS, would be thoroughly, meticulously inspected to insure an event like that not happening again

    • @MuffinYoBusiness
      @MuffinYoBusiness 4 года назад +4

      It would have been more beneficial to had multiple of these droids detonate in several key systems simultaneously. And attack like that could have crippled the Republic and forced them into a surrender. However I do agree that if this tactic was used throughout the war it would very quickly become ineffective.

    • @lenkagamine4145

      @Commander Kyro well only republic worlds are going to be terrified of droids unless your attacking your own settlements. I mean... making your enemy scared of your military because your using your military being a bad thing is weird to me. By that logic, wouldnt they just not attack any worlds with droids since it would "rally more support othe republic"?

      In the final episode of that Arc when Ahsoka is facing off with the Trandoshan leader, I saw a Mandolorian helmet from the Era of the Old Republic.
      It was such a cool Easter egg I had never seen before and led me to believe that Trandoshans sport hunting was something that’s been around for thousands of years, it’s great what you can notice in a show even this many years later. Lolt West what Star Wars Rebels lacked was the Amazing Animation, Even Season 1 and 2 of Clone wars had better art style and Animation.

    Well they did experiment with different droids. "The Cestus Deception" novel talks about this with Obi Wan and Kit Fisto trying to halt the building of these Jedi Killer droids that were pretty effective against Jedi, along with the combat droids used in the Battle of Jabiim. Also I do wonder if the Republic was unaware of other cloners like Arkanian Micro? Or did the Kaminoans have a contract with the Republic that had a clause that didn't allow for them to use the Fett template elsewhere, even though in Republic Commando its revealed they start using Spaartii Clones produced by Arkanian Micro or Palps did at least.

    I always saw it has there was essentially an original “order” for a certain number of clones. They mention in the movie how not all of them are ready so the Kaminoans are probably just focusing on the growth of the ones they already made. With the war looking like it will never end and the extremely high casualty rate for the clones the purchasing of more clones could be seen as a sort of plan for the future. With more clones being prepared the Republic then doesn’t have to worry as much about conserving troops. Also I’m pretty sure in that episode mentioned at the end they’re at a hospital and it’s said that the clones are in bacta tanks.

    It always Seemed like the Clone wars was so close to concluding numerous times throughout the Series, but all it took was the destruction of a power grid to completely sabotage any chance of a peaceful resolution.
    That’s probably the best thing about the Clone wars TV show was how much you wanted the War to end, to prevent deaths on both sides, but you already know that Palpatine was steps ahead and that neither side was ever going to be allowed to win.
    Even Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels had realized the point of the clone wars, and all from just a simulated battle, That the Only side that was allowed to win was the Empire.

    A wide-scale attack like the one you mentioned would be exponentially more difficult and risky than the infiltration we see used in the show. They're much more likely to be discovered, and they might not have any way to report their discovery to the CIS, so they could be disabled. Ideally, you would never directly attack with your droid spies, because that will raise suspicions towards all droids. Instead, they should be used to gather information or subtly sabotage key systems during battles, giving a much more long-term benefit to the CIS. It would probably severely damage the reputation of whichever corporation designed them, though, which is probably why they weren't used like that.

      Possibly loss of performance (compared to LAAT without those turrets) compared to effectiveness was deemed unacceptable, which could be compounded by combat losses among turret operators. the gun pods are mainly seen defending the gunships against light fighters, which the Geonosians used on a large scale against the republic forces. On other planets sealed doors were more of a priority for most planetary deployments.
      Despite the high use of light fighters against gunships by the Umbarans, the spotlights were a higher priority for being able to see the landing zones and make sure the clones would have a safe deployment position on the ground.

    I also think that Palpatine meddled with the CIS tactics, so that they would only use this type of droid for one specific attack instead of multiple ones simultaneously as you suggest: by only attacking the generator, the war could continue, without any loss to the existing Republic army. This way, Palpatine can grow the Republic army even further until he'll form the Empire.

    I've wondered about those destroyer droids in this episode as well, I've always assumed it was linked into why the main CIS droids were always so foolish... was it that Palpatine didn't want the CIS to win and therefore they never did anything to actually win the war. After all they have the capacity to destroy the republic if they really wanted to. In this episode they needed to hit hard at the Senate itself to trick the Senators into voting to continue the war but most of the time they didn't want to do any real damaged to the Republic and Palpatine wanted it for himself and his Imperial Navy!

    The only thing that allowed these demolition droids to work as intended was the plan surrounding them: arrangements to circumvent regular security inspections, familiarity with droid orders i.e the cleaning droids were expected to arrive and an attitude of relief was expressed when they were greeted implying that the previous droids were no longer in use for some reason.
    A mass deployment would not have been able to circumvent every inspection or scan, and one identification in such a large deployment of a single model of droid would have doubled down inspections on all droid traffic especially said model.
    At best they are a tactical weapon of opportunity- infiltrate, overwhelm, and self-destruct. They would need to be changed in appearing as different models of otherwise innocuous droid, and their mission tailored to exploit weaknesses or shortcomings in security procedures AND appear to be fitting into a role expected by the faction being infiltrated. And once the tactic was identified it would become harder to deploy and would need to be adapted in some way.

    An unfortunate, yet still interesting ultimate plot device hanging over the Seperatist is that, if everything was orchestrated on both sides by Sidious, the CIS had to lose the war eventually. There could be any number of logistical reasons why more Demolition Droids were not built, a you can always argue, like you can with fighters like the TIE Defender, they are just far too expensive and sophisticated for more widespread production, though, cheaper sleeper agent droids seem like an obvious option. But even in that case, Sheev didn't start the Clone Wars to take over the Galaxy in the name of the CIS. He did it to justify political grabs for the Republic to become the Empire.

    • @TY-km8hj
      @TY-km8hj 4 года назад

      Yhh its likely tho kaminoans were known for wanting quality in their creations and so an accelerated clone would be inferior compared to the original clones. Cos of this I'd argue that they made a set amount that were already paid for and given to the republic however they made countless more since they realised that more would be bought and so they would receive more profits. Plus it's also known that palpatine secretly used sparti clones which were fully grown clones that take 1 yr to create however they're rather inferior compared to kaminoan clones and would become unstable after several yrs.

    • @TY-km8hj
      @TY-km8hj 4 года назад

      @@liemsolow3697 That's what I mean. Due to having less training they would, in fact, be inferior soldiers. As a template they would be the same as any other clones same physical capability etc, though it's possible they would have mental difficulties like sparti clones but that's speculation since kaminoans clones r better than sparti, but as soldiers they would be drastically worse seeing as how they'd have say 1 yrs growth time then training would be done in memory flashes and maybe a couple acc training sessions before being sent into full on combat. Compare that to the 10 yr training that normal clones received and u have an inferior soldier.

    Droidekas, assassin droids, demolition droids, hell, even a surplus of B2's might have proved enough to defeat the GAR. The problem is, all these droids are very expensive to manufacture, and the Confederacy only has so much money. That's why B1's compromise the bulk of the Droid Army- yeah, they're not very dangerous alone, but they're cheap and easy to pump out on an assembly line and they can overwhelm even clones or Jedi in large numbers (remember that the GAR only numbered a couple hundred thousand at the start of the Clone Wars versus millions of battle droids). Of course, all of this is irrelevant anyway, since Sidious and Dooku never intended for the CIS to win the war.

    For me this plan fails to feel like a proper Star Wars threat. One of Star Wars' core setting assumptions is a lack of universality in their tools and technology. Astromechs are as big as they are mainly because they carry around a crap-ton of adapters to interact with things, because nobody made USB ports in the Star Wars universe. Having droid transformers that can go from street-sweeper to commando to bomb-bot flies in the face of a setting that necessitates having gonk droids, mouse droids, and so forth.
    So it's not that these droids are a bad idea, but they're such an OP idea that they imply the entire setting should look and feel differently. So we as an audience essentially have to ignore them.

    • @thenightman7879
      @thenightman7879 4 года назад +1

      @@victorbruant389 Personally I don't think the Venator isn't a ship that cant excel in ship to ship warfare. ultimately it suffers from issues that plague virtually every model of star destroyer with some rare exceptions. for example The primary turbo lasers are placed in a row rather than staggered that doesn't maximize their effectiveness, the bridge is overly tall and prominent and I also don't see the point in having two bridge's other than to confuse your enemy.
      Even with all those flaws the Venator still has a few good aspects going for it. Its Dorsal hangar allows for the extremely rapid deployment of large numbers of Star Fighters (Something rare for Star Destroyers in general). Also with (in my opinion): a size increase to 2x the original size and length, plus some better turbolaser placement, plus larger numbers of weapons and a dedicated Point defense system the ship can compete against a vast majority of the CIS Navy. Later in the war when they started putting Heavy Republic Ground Artillery on the Venator's as a secondary special weapon they began to hold their ground more effectively than before.
      While I agree that to get a good design you need a good base. The Venator has an okay starting point and actually possesses a strength most Star Destroyers fail to take advantage of especially later during the Galactic Civil War Era. That advantage is fighters and it was the Republic Fighters that mostly allowed Venators to win battles rather than become a joke for the CIS Navy. I think with some size improvement and some slight changes to its design and arsenal the Venator could've become a beautiful All around cruiser...
      But that's just my thoughts and maybe your right and the Venator was just setup for failure in its role to start. That's the beauty of being able to discuss this stuff you never know when someone will bring up a point that you never noticed so at least thanks for noticing my comment. :)

      @lenkagamine4145 4 года назад

      @@thenightman7879 if you scale it up much larger and add tons of weapons your not going to have very many of them. Plus adding all of those weapons is going to reduce the carrying capacity for a given cost. It would be better to have a dedicated carrier, then design another versatile ship, rather than just having a ship designed like a dedicated carrier (with vulnerabilities associated with its high fighter complement and devoting so much of its room to carrying capacity) operating as your frontline ship. Now I'm not saying that you need to have no carrying capacity on your main ship, but the venator uses more room for fighter carrying than weaponry and it has a weakness in the dorsal hangar because of it.
      I actually think the Imp 1 was more practical than the venator, with good point defenses, powerful anti-capital ship weapons, and a healthy fighter complement. The problem with it was that the fighters were downgraded, not the ship itself.

    • @thenightman7879
      @thenightman7879 4 года назад

      @@lenkagamine4145 I definitely agree with you on your point regarding the dorsal hangar I also mentioned it in a comment on Eck's previous video on the battle of Saleucami that the dorsal hangar was as much a weakness as it was a strength for the ship and that the republic should've just designed something else for a mainline ship role. if it were me I would want something that has a lot more direct fire power maybe a Battleship or Battlecruiser of some kind. that way it can slot into Republic fleets better. To put it simply the Venators can stay behind the other ship and provide more effective fighter support while the frontline ship takes and deals the damage. Honestly I've always found it irritating that the Republic went for the entire clone wars without even a single petition for a more effective mainline cruiser or battlecruiser instead wasting lives and credits by putting Venators in a role they were horribly suited for.
      Also the point about the ISD 1 is so true I had been thinking about it a lot recently. I believe that the ISD II is a huge compounding of all the mistakes the ISD 1 had. Instead of fitting more weapons on to deal with fighters (Or getting actual higher quality fighters...) they instead replaced the ISD's already meager amount of laser cannons with Ion Cannons and placed even more turbolaser's on a ship that already outmatched anything within or below its size. in addition to those mistakes they failed to address the structural problems it had like its exposed bridge. If you ask me the ISD II is almost an absolute failure in sensible design. while it improved greatly in a role it was already exceptional in- it came at the cost of even more easily exploitable vulnerabilities.
      Regarding the downgrading of fighters I think had Thrawn's TIE Defender gone into mass production it may have solved that problem for the empire all together. The defender was an excellent multirole Starfighter and I think personally its actually better than an X wing in many areas. Anyways thank you for your input and I'm sorry my Comments are so long I'm glad to see there's someone out there that was thinking about the ISD 1 just like I was. :)
