    I use a soft toothbrush to brush the roots out when I am cleaning up a plant I purchased from a big box store. Works really well.

    That is so freaking cool!!! 😻❤️ I've never thought about growing stuff in yarn!!! ❤️❤️😻😻

      I still have a lot of plants growing in the yarn. Some plants like coleus, Rex begonias and Hoya do great in acrylic yarn!!!! 😃😃😃

    Thank you for this video Paul. I grow a lot of plants and am usually successful, but begonias….oh. I am now going to try water growing instead of soil so you’ve given me confidence to try that. Off to the garden centre tomorrow.

      I know what you’re saying. I struggled with begonias for a while. Now I enjoy growing them!!! 👍👍👍🌱🌱🌱

    Good morning Paul. Recently found your channel and very informative. Never knew you can grow Rex Begonias in water culture, happy to know that because I just got one and will propagate to grow both in soil and will try the water culture. Thank you for sharing.😊

    Thanks for this video. I've just started with begonias and bumbed into your channel ;). I also hate soil and have all my plants in mineral substrate. The only thing with begonias is that they don't like to get their leaves wet when cleaning the soil of so I have a bunch of cripy leaves hahaha. Now I know better. Best regards from Frankfurt Germany ;)

      Thanks so much for watching. 😃. Great meeting another plant lover. What mineral substrate do you use, is it Pon? I use lava rock a lot as well. 👍🏼🌱

      @@paultheplantparent2702 there ist a substrate called Vulkatec which is similar to pon without fertilizer. It's working great for me. I'm trying your yarn method (started 2 days ago) I will keep you posted. Thanks for sharing your knowledge ;)

    Thank you,very informative. So,what's the maximum level of water,please? Only the fine roots?

    • @paultheplantparent2702
      @paultheplantparent2702  2 года назад +1

      Hello. When starting, I only keep about 1/2” or a centimeter of water. As more roots develop I can increase to about 2 cm. Also depends what kind of vessel you’re keeping them in. 🌱👍🏼

    Paul, you mentioned using a Hydroponic Fertilizer in a previous video. There are so many, which one do I choose? Please help! Susie

    • @paultheplantparent2702
      @paultheplantparent2702  2 года назад

      Hi Susie. There are a lot to choose from, you’re right. I use Aerogarden nutrients (by MiracleGro) and General Hydroponics Maxigro. They both work great! 👍🏼

    do they need any fertiliser if new transfers to water culture?

    • @paultheplantparent2702
      @paultheplantparent2702  Месяц назад +1

      I usually wait for new growth before feeding. But then they take off. 😃👍🏼🪴

    Can I use your propagation method in indirect sun instead of using artificial grow-lights during the summer?

    • @paultheplantparent2702
      @paultheplantparent2702  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yup. As long as they aren’t hit by the sun’s rays you should do great!!! 😃👍🏼

    Is it ok for the baby plants that come along with roots on a single leaf propagation, to stay under water? Or should I try to prop them up a little so they get oxygen while roots stay underwater? Also the new baby plants that begin at the base of the actual leaf - up and totally out of water, do you just leave them be?

    • @paultheplantparent2702
      @paultheplantparent2702  2 года назад +2

      For me, they do fine under water since that’s how they started. I usually let them grow until they’re out of the water before transplanting them. They’re pretty strong plants! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🌱🌱🌱

    Is it normal that the leaf gets limpy when you put it in water?? I just put mine in yesterday and now its limpy

      Usually it’s best to make a fresh cut at the bottom of the stem and they should perk up. Let me know if that works for you. 🌱

      Hello. It came in as a noid but it looks like a Red Bull kept in very low light. Bright light would bring out the deep red coloring. Are some leaves on your plant red? If not, it could be something else. 🌱😃
