I'm sitting here on the California coast, and I can tell you - there's nothing like these Southern rock boys. They're a treasure. God bless.

I agree. Missing the Skydog...met Greg here in Jersey at the Stone Pony- and had a blast after the show. A little jam session and some good friends. I'll never forget it.

Something about style and lines of Dickey Bett's solos are so unique, they are just as much the Allman sound as anything else.

Saw Greg in New Orleans about 15 years ago. What a time! Went to dinner for a very satisfying recipe of gumbo before the show. What a time! Interesting as well was that a cop picked up my friend and I not to harrass us but to give us a ride home, well-- to her home. What a time!

I saw Dickey play live year at a concert. He still plays some really fine guitar. And you are right, his
playing is technically flawless. His son Duane also plays with him.

i think the great strength of allman brothers band has been their dual lead guitar setup... with such outstanding guitarists (both past with Duane and present - Hayes/Trucks etc.) and not to mention DICKEY BETTS !! they've always been forced to step up and do their absolutely best in the presence of their co-lead.

Keyboardist Johnny Neel. He played piano and harmonica on the Seven Turns album and tour. Front from left to right is Warren Haynes, Dickey Betts, Greg Allman and Johnny Neel. Behind them is Butch Trucks, Jaimo and the late bassist Allen Woody (also of Gov't Mule). Neel occasionally jams with Gov't Mule and produces at his Nashville studio.

It was not the same, but it added to the story and the music. I'll never forget the night coming to my boyfriend's house in 1970 (he was in a band) as he met us at the door and said "Duane Allman died". We all cried that night. Things were never the same, but the rest of the band did a phenomenal job of keeping the sound great. It was just different, that's all I can say.

Sallie is right Duane died in in 1971, he was the bands slide guitarist some would say one of the best ever. A year later just a block away Bassist Barry Oakley was also killed on his motorcycle. After Duane Died orignial member Dickey Bettes (sitting to Gregs right in the vid) took over all guitar to finish Eat A Peach. Warren Haynes joined the band in 1989 to cover guitar work with Betts

@MrJerryWallace the dude in the sunglasses is Johnny Neal. He was on the "Seven Turns" album then left the band. He mostly played keyboards with the Brothers. He's also blind, hence the shades I guess.

THis was the new lineup when they reformed for their successful return that continues today with one blip. New members here are Warren Haynes on (slide) guitar and vocals, Allen Woody on bass, and Johnny Neal on piano.

The guy playing high harmony guitar to Dicky Betts on this song, absolutly makes this song electric. His name is unknown to me, but he makes this the beautiful song it is. If I had a band, I'd want him in it.

Accoustic is fine, but no one can touch the original recording, even by the Allmans themselves apparently. The guitars and singing were very powerful in the original. Saw them on a TV special back in the early '80s when they came about as close to the original as I've heard.
