Great video. I'm excited to see how Doom progresses because you've obviously got a lot of talent and put a lot of effort into it. Its a crazy difficult objective to make a competent heavyweight bot but you're already making great content.

I'm super impressed with the progress on DOOM.
From having structural zipties and ducttape armor, to having a solid bot that can take a hit and dish them out as well. A slipping clutch that stops a bot from self-righting is such a common problem that I think every hammer saw on the show has encountered at least once, as long as you learn and adjust shouldn't be something you should feel bad about.
Can't wait what the future brings for DOOM! And hopefully we'll see WOOD back again as well. Just be careful driving that bot around in your shop because mayhem can happen instantly with such amount of power, even with the weapon idle.

Yeah. The self-righting thing was unfortunate and we've since solved that problem so that it never happens again.
DOOM has much more DOOMING to DOOM. It is still very far from full potential.

This is without a doubt the best Proving Grounds themed video. Really love the honestly and the fact you can laugh at yourself, but also seeing the improvement you're making to DOOM each time is really something to marvel at. Best of luck for the future!

Thank You! I appreciate the support.
DOOM tends to learn lessons the hard way and I've learned to deal with that.

My favorite moment from the fight was when doom said "it's dooming time" and doomed all over slammo erasing it from existence.

The biggest problem I see is the driving. You took yourself out essentially in this fight.

Yes. Surely one of the largest areas of improvement needed for DOOM. Upgrades are in the making.

I think a total redesign is in order. Resons why... 1. Your weapon is too big for the bot. 2. the weapon's arm is too weak to lift the bot after getting flipped. 3. the center of gravity and the bot with the weapon attached is way off if the weapon is hanging to either side. Solutions: Perhaps you should think about the robot's survivability with the parts you have thus costing less money (and maybe get a few sponsors). My idea is turn the weapon sideways and lay it down to dra it behind you. Then strengthen the hydrolic arm so it can flip the bot back over instead of swining the weapon. With the weapon horizontal you can drive it either direction and make it work. Even from behind after a rush with the weapon in the rear. Take a look at Maximizer a 15lb bot I think, with the weapon on the rear. You can of course also use the weapon on the front and with the arm you can fight bots like Huge and Mamoth. Example: ruclips.net/video/ShHtYiO_T7Q/видео.html Please don't take this personal, I just trying to help and be inovative at the same time.

Though this video was posted recently, the content covered in it is old. This was only the first of seven proving grounds fights. Here is DOOM's latest appearance at proving grounds: ruclips.net/video/lYqREwEjzXc/видео.htmlsi=V_6bA1YhJmpKvYL3

@@aptinventions I would argue that 2 120lb bots vs.a single 250lb bot and where one opponent was bearly effecting the fights (Cat Kong) that that's not a good example. I don't mean to disrepect ypur team and your efforts but just try to think outside the box and see what you can come up with. Good Luck in your future bot battles.

I honestly have no idea where you are coming from. DOOM is the largest hammersaw capable articulated spinner in the world and it has only been improving with every fight. The design is only limited by experience, time, and money. Nobody has ever built a DOOM before, so it is up to DOOM itself to figure out how to DO more DOOMING.
      1. Actually, the weapon ISNT BIG ENOUGH. More weapon = more DOOM
      2. The DOOM Arm is strong enough to self-right (the clutch slipped early in this fight is all 9:15) I'll post a self-right demo soon hopefully.
      3. Yes, that is a caveat of such a design and there are plans in place to work around it.
I do strongly believe in innovation and DOOM will have a complete redesign before the next season but not by completely changing the type of bot it is. I understand your suggestions and I don't want to spoil anything but trust when I say DOOM will eventually have a weapon system the likes of which has never been seen before. . It'll take some time but it will happen.

Never mind I went back through the Facebook supporters group fights and doom never erased slammo from existence.
Instead slammo said "I'M GOING TO SLAM YOU" and slammed DOOM a slammbillion times before Craig Danby entered the box (with the apex bar) and cut DOOM in half.

Will say seeing the progress of Doom from proving grounds so far, got to admit it's come a long way and very impressed so far.
I do wonder if maybe adding some kind of wedgelets in the future or something to hold an opponent in place could help with dealing more damage

    • @aptinventions
      @aptinventions  10 месяцев назад

For sure. DOOM must incorporate effective ground game to have a chance against certain opponents. Drive improvements as well for more control.

@@aptinventions yeah maybe having another shell in the future that can have added attachments points to the so you can have a wide wedgelets type of thing could work better more like biteforce style ones
Yeah I noticed it seemed very unwieldy maybe try a higher gear reduction could help with that
