Matthew Vasquez matt I’ve watched your fights and I’m reading a book on robot combat, but I’ve been discouraged from building one because of the lack of diversity in the robots. It seems like everyone is trying to copy minotaur or something. How can I make my robot unique?

I think I'm gonna try to build a robot to fight at the next Robogames. What weight class is Mandiii in?
#TK-Dragon75! 120lb I advise building either a 1lber or a 3lber if you are new to Robot Combat, it is safer, and cheaper, as such is easier to back out should you decide it isn't for you.

Yea that general is a mean build, good fights, mandiii took a hell of a beating.
That first bot was Robotto, they are from Mexico, they took out two lights this year, and won the rumble... Not a bad bot.
Elevation, angle and position of the cameras in the arena will be much more better if adopted from soccer's.
In general, this is a great video, specially with no ads that ussually sucks data by force.
I'm building a medium weight bot that im gonna enter into competitions like this, and I hope to battle you sometime :)

Why didn’t you go with a one piece drum instead of a two piece
gravity center would have been offset
@@haltair4015 Would be the same whether 2 or 1 piece were used, as long as the drum profile's correct e.g. Touros' drums. An offset-balanced drum from identical segments would need at least 3 pieces(the middle one being twice as wide as the others).
maybe having 2 pieces makes it easier to stay balanced in case half of the tooth sheared off?

You need to understand how to do a Robot, and prove it´s existence ;)
My serious opinion is, Get a nice Power Supply, like a very nice Battery, then Motors, Like Stepper Motors, a Motor Speed Controller a Transmitter and Receiver for RC Cars. I guess it´s a Start.
Would be nice (opcional), to understand about PWM, which stands For "Pulse Width Modulation".
And then just... Do your best... I´m just trying to help, if you like electronics go check it out !
If you want to join robojackets, you just gotta get into GT and then come to the meetings. No prior knowledge needed. You can usually find a booth at Faset.
What's your major? I'm fifteen and thinking about starting in the ant or beetle weight class

Is there a way to stop speed controllers burning up or batteries from catching fire? I thought these components would have monitoring systems to shut down for awhile until cooler?

OMFG gala different weight classes. And we had two 3 pound bots but they were trying to fill up spots anyway
yeah light and middle, but i thought the rule was 1 robot regardless of ether light middle or heavy? i though thats why the catclysm/warhawk guy dident compete with cat Kong as well, and why only touro maximus turned up ?
The rule was you could register 1 robot and waitlist another. So we ended up getting off the waitlist for the other robot once we got there.

Yeah pretty much, it's a list of people who get to join the competition if other people who are registered don't show up. I am not in charge of mandiiii any more but yes, were mostly focusing on a bigger drum and moving the center of gravity farther back for better drive control.

DHL UPS etc eliminate a lot of issues at the airports nowdays. Often cheaper than overweight luggage. Often handled much better.

Will probably do some 3lbers and eventually work my way back up to 120lb after saving up and building up my own shop.

I am shocked you used aluminum for a frame... especially upfront.. some good ol hardened steel would have done much better. the good bots are using tips on the spinners that basically could be used to machine aluminum.
