Caylie, regarding the description field in your spreadsheet. Your html coding is easily accessible by selecting Show all options (in a draft) then selecting Show HTML Code. Just create one of your nonspecific shell drafts and copy/paste the html to your spreadsheet Description field. *Copy/paste the generic version before adding your exact fabric or style profile etc to have that field mostly ready instead of blank. Hope that makes sense! Thanks for the video.
@@cayleyelaine i uploaded a day’s worth of drafts using your method too. Game changer! And so glad you mastered the description field too. This just changed my life! I'm so excited. Thanks so much for taking the time to show us the process! Now I understand why this is such a game changer!! You're the BEST! ❤ 😀
Wow! I had no idea that this was an option. I only sell a few items here and there, but good to know there is a faster way for large sellers to list items.
This is great information! Thanks so much! I already use google sheets for managing all of my inventory, and after a haul, I come home and enter everything in, including where I got the item, date purchased, cog, etc. Then when I list, I record list date & price in that same spreadsheet, and when it sells, I record sold price & date. Now my wheels are turning on how I can make formulas to automatically create a separate upload spreadsheet from the info I'm already entering anyway. I am bad about buying 10 items, with 2 or 3 that are high profit margin, so I list those first to recoup my investment and the rest sits for a few weeks. I work full time, so time is limited, but plan to retire in 5 or 6 years and do resale full time. Using the drafts upload methods will help me to be motivated to list everything in my haul right away and help me plan to scale up once I retire. I do have one question. Why do you put your COG amount in the custom sku field?
Because when the item sells the custom skus stay with the item through the reports that are generated. It makes it easy for me to pull the report and track cogs sold.
Genius! I just have to figure out how to use this for my volume-based model. I love it when a video inspires so many thoughts in my old brain, and yours did exactly that - thanks!
Thank you so much. You and Nikki keep me company on these long listing days. I appreciate how you both share your knowledge to help all of us improve. Hi, I'm a fairly new subscriber from England and am really enjoying your videos. I Love love LOVE this, it has been so helpful! I had a little dabble with bulk listings quite a while ago, but I tried create new listings rather than drafts and found it confusing. This is so much better, you explained it clearly and hopefully it will be a gamechanger. I currently use templates though, so I have quite a lot of the info pre-filled in, so I'd like to be able to see if there is a way to have more fields filled in when uploading. This have given me the confidence to look into this again, thank you so much!!
I tried new fields right away and it errored out on me. Apparently the listing sheet permits new fields but the draft version doesn’t. I’m not keen on having to do all the specifics manually. Hope eBay cures that soon!
Thank you... I learnt something new today! 😊 Didn't know you could do this with just good-old Excel and I do already create a spreadsheet of everything I buy. If I needed to list large quantities every day this would work for me, once I got the hang of it.

1st of your videos I have watched. VERY informative and great food for thought. I have never used the spreadsheet method. It is time to look into it. As you said, "A game changer" OH,I did like and subscribe
Super amazing info. Do you have any videos of your actual sourcing and the recording into spreadsheet that you mention you do? I am not understanding that part of the process. 🙃
Can you share any metrics regarding how beneficial using your spreadsheet has been to your business? For example, perhaps you spend X minutes daily on your spreadsheet and bulk editing, but that results in Y hours of savings when listing. Or, alternatively, perhaps using the spreadsheet allowed you to expand from X listings per day to Y listings per day with the same man hours. You said it was a game changer for your business - I'm just curious if you could be more specific. :) P.S. Thanks for sharing - I'm sure this video will help a lot of folks!
Sure thing. I can include this in a future video but I'll answer you here. Our previous method of creating listings meant we had to type all of our titles, cogs, and redo comps to figure out pricing. In order to get the the same draft shells that my new method gives me, I estimated that it took us about 40 seconds per item (I used to time our old process). 40 secs x 115 items = 76.66 min = 1.27 hours. Getting the same results now using the spreadsheet method takes me 10-15 minutes. I could break it down further per item but that's the gist.
Sorry to bother u Cayley (ik you're busy) but could you make a quick update to your sourcing methodology/excel/sheets? Are there methods that you've dropped/changed for the sake of time? ty
This is fantastic. I’ve had an eBay store for a while, and I’m definitely not utilizing it the way I could be. So when you list to eBay, are you simultaneously cross listing? What is your process for crosslisting?
When we list on ebay, we are usually scheduling out 2 weeks. We usually wait for the item to go active on ebay and then we crosspost using LP to Poshmark.
@@cayleyelaine oh ok- that makes sense. What number of daily listings do you feel is realistic for a one person reselling business. Like what would you personally be limited to if you didn’t have a team?
@swifty_thrift well I have to travel at least 1.5 hours one way to get to a good sourcing location. So that's a time hindrance most people don't have. If I had to do this by myself I'd source for 2 days and list for 3 days. On an 8 hour listing day I think I could comfortably get up 50 listings a day plus do all my shipping and customer service and take an hour lunch. That's comfortably.
Wow. Thank you. I did not even know this was possible. Even with only mid level spreadsheet skills I was able to execute an upload of 4 draft listings as a trial run. I’m very curious about photo URLs. Would a copy link to iCloud work?
Here you go! If you need to access it again later, it's always in the Linktree in the description of all of my videos. docs.google.com/document/d/12p9JUEeMo9r-a6t4M5RfgkjWm-XAi7WWlIM8CZtx5zY/edit?usp=sharing
Brill video, has helped me a lot . I can message you with the wording format for description which works for this draft sheet ….. I figured it out after learning how to do drafts from this video.
Thank you so very much ❤ 1 question: can you bulk edit schedule start date while doing this process? (I will mess with it but it would be great to know if it's even possible) Again thank you x ♾️
Hi Caley, not all that complicated...and an eye opener. I guess I knew that you could do some kind of spreadsheet to list thing before but been doing it this way so long now...I forgot? But yes makes sense. I know you said you didn't want to answer any specifics and I totally get that. Just one question. You said you fill out a spreadsheet at the stores...when you are sourcing. How do you do that? Do you use an ipad or do you do it on your phone? What kind of software (ok 2 questions) do you use for that? I only have ever used excel and I bought a copy for my imac. I have an iphone. I'd love to do this. My method now is I buy it all, and yes I look things up at the store mostly and I get home and I sit in front of my tv and I record everything by hand in a book...then I wash them and then I photograph them and list one by one by hand. I can only list about 4 to 5 a day this way. I save all my photos on memory cards label each one. I am a perfectionist so each photo has to be perfect etc. LOL. I'm the opposite of quick and I know its not ...helping me but hurting my biz. So yes only 2 questions. I'll watch your vid again once I get that part answered and figure out how to change the way I do all this to be quicker. I'd love to do 20 a day... and I think I could if I can do this. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi! We use the Google docs app (you can use on iPhone all you need is a Google account). We record on our phones using a spreadsheet in the google drive app (it's free to use). That's it!
Hi Cayley! Im finally getting the courage to try this out.. your video is super helpful and i even started using a sourcing spreadsheet for myself today lol. I just have one question...i too use google sheets because its free, and you said when you dowbload the excel file from ebay, you then upload it into google sheets. But how do you do that? Im unable to save, copy, or do anything in the ebay file because I dont have excel...so how do you get it into google sheets?! I feel like its probably just very simple and Im missing something
I'm so dumb... I figured it out🤦♀️🤦♀️🤣🤣 thank you so much for this! Have been trying to figure out how to speed up my listing time and this I feel is going to change so much!!
i just stumbled across this video (manifested it) This is great and I love excel and it makes perfect sense to me. I still do the handwritten log of purchases etc so I am very interested in how you do it in the store? Are you talk texting into google docs, is it while our are in line? So by the the time you get finished sourcing you are already steps ahead from inputting your items purchased and half way to creating the listings Correct? I love this! Thank you for sharing..
That is correct. When we comp and item and decide to get it, immediately after we put it in the cart we are putting the info on our spreadsheet. We use the Google docs app on our phones to create the spreadsheet in google sheets.
Do you have to use eBay template I don't have that Excel cuz I don't want to pay for it but I'd like to use the free one. So would I copy every character from the eBay template over to the new spreadsheet. ? I'm a little lost on that part
@@cayleyelaine I ask this question because there are certainly keywords that are more searched for on one platform than another. ? Otherwise could you recommend a tutorial so that I can understand how to do keyword research and above all I wanted keyword research and I wanted to know if It is possible to automate, do you use APIs?
@chrisder1814 for sure some keywords are more popular on other platforms. But I believe in adding all keywords that are applicable so in theory, there would be no need to change the listing per platform.
So when you say you use your sourcing spreadsheet while you are sourcing, I’m not sure when you record it. Do you mean once you get in the car? Sorry, I’m a one woman show.
@@gavinshineon3192 when I'm at the thrift store and am deciding whether or not to pick an item up, I do a comp. The moment I decide to pick the item up, I put it on the sourcing spreadsheet.
@Cayley Elaine gotcha. Also..is there a way to get your sourcing sheet without using gumroad? I'm in a battle w them.. I'll pay you. I just want it as a template of sorts. I use excel daily...but I'm definitely not great at it...
I personally only add best offer to items that have been sitting for 90 days or longer. I determined this time frame because most of the items we pick up have a 100% STR within 90 days. Which means, if it hasn't sold, the pricing is probably too high and so I'll drop the price and accept offers.
do you know how to add PDF in the description i´m searching long time to find it because i´m selling on ebay germany cars parts and it need certificate like E24
I released the most basic form of my sourcing spreadsheet but the website I used to sell the document at $0 no longer allows me to sell it at pay what you want cost so I took it down. Creating that document on google sheets could be done in about 5 minutes if you wanted to create one yourself.
You can find the sourcing spreadsheet in my linktree below. Click on documents for sale but you can choose to get it for free. It's the most basic form and does not include the extra columns shown in this video. Also wanted to clarify, the sourcing spreadsheet is not the template spreadsheet that gets uploaded into ebay. Hope this helps! linktr.ee/cayleyelaine
I don't believe you can do it using the spreadsheet method but below is how to apply it to your listings: export.ebay.com/en/listings/how-optimize-your-listings/how-to-create-listings-with-variations/
Lots of extra work thats entirely inaccurate so im guessing its actually slower than starting from scratch too. The notebook with cog and selling price is smart though. But if makes employees think they have a head start I can see the psychological advantage.
@@cayleyelaine ya it's really very odd because I can literally download the template, use their example draft, try and upload it and it complains about Draft not being a valid action.
When I downloaded the template using google sheets it looks nothing like yours. The columns in your template are non existent on the one downloaded , just continuous row with title, subject etc separated by a comma. Any pointers or possibilities of a more detailed video on the eBay template download and editing process? It would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, the one that is downloadable is just the most basic form (does not include the extra columns). You can easily add columns to fit your needs. support.google.com/docs/answer/54813?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
Hi! Just in the last few days I've had to switch up my website. They no longer allow items to be free or pay what you want. I'm trying to decide to charge or not offer it at all. Sorry!
It could be so much quicker I use Google sheets templates took me about 6 months to create and I speak the titles into a Google document and then copy and paste into sheets and a structure the titles in a way that the formulas that I have added to the template pulls out all the information from the title and put it in this item specific fields and then I use AWS for image hosting

Wow. Thank you. I did not even know this was possible. Even with only mid level spreadsheet skills I was able to execute an upload of 4 draft listings as a trial run. I’m very curious about photo URLs. Would a copy link to iCloud work?
I'm not sure. Haven't figured out the photos yet.
Do you have link for the shipping supplies for clothing and shoes? Poly bag sizes
Here you go! If you need to access it again later, it's always in the Linktree in the description of all of my videos.

Brill video, has helped me a lot . I can message you with the wording format for description which works for this draft sheet ….. I figured it out after learning how to do drafts from this video.
Someone actually walked me through it and I have the html down now. Thank you for offering!
Thank you so very much ❤
1 question: can you bulk edit schedule start date while doing this process?
(I will mess with it but it would be great to know if it's even possible)
Again thank you x ♾️
You can while you are in the bulk editor.
That's it!
@@cayleyelaine Thank you! Yes I have a Google account.
Glad you got it figured out! Hope you love it.
@@cayleyelaine thank you! 🥰
i just stumbled across this video (manifested it) This is great and I love excel and it makes perfect sense to me.
This is a game changer. Thank you!
Do you have to use eBay template I don't have that Excel cuz I don't want to pay for it but I'd like to use the free one. So would I copy every character from the eBay template over to the new spreadsheet. ? I'm a little lost on that part
You do have to use their template but you can download it and then upload it into Google sheets where you can use it for free. That's what we do.
Thank you just got a suscriber I was wondering about this you help me to get it to work!!!!
WOW. Thank you so much; this REALLY is a Game Changer.
Thank you! Stay blessed! ❤
QUESTION- What field on the eBay screen do you put your SKU in?
Custom label (sku)
@@cayleyelaine thank you
Is this still the most current system that you are using to get listings on eBay?
Yes. This is still how I'm doing it.
hello, should the choice of keywords and listings be different depending on the Marketplace on which I sell?
I don't think so. I use the same keywords on every platform.
@@cayleyelaineOk so you don't use SEO software through the platform? And my second question is do you use no code software like Make?
@@chrisder1814 I use no software. I study data on keywords based on comps on the platforms and other sources.
Where do you put the number of the item so you can find it? This method seems doable even though a little complicated. I'm up for the challenge.
We add it to the sku when we are ready to put them away. When the item goes live all we leave in the sku is the item location and the cogs.
Uhm. Wow. Ok. I'll watch again whilst trying it out but FIRST, may i clarify? You input item into an excel spreadsheet on phone at Thrift? TIA!
Yes, we use Google sheets to create our sourcing spreadsheet. You can download the Google drive app which allows you to use the sheet on your phone.
@Cayley Elaine gotcha. Also..is there a way to get your sourcing sheet without using gumroad? I'm in a battle w them.. I'll pay you. I just want it as a template of sorts. I use excel daily...but I'm definitely not great at it...
@@JuniperJax do you mean Google sheets?
@@cayleyelaine I got it. Thank you so much.
How do you determine which listings you add “allow offers” to?
I personally only add best offer to items that have been sitting for 90 days or longer. I determined this time frame because most of the items we pick up have a 100% STR within 90 days. Which means, if it hasn't sold, the pricing is probably too high and so I'll drop the price and accept offers.
This info. is great. I totally got it and I am not that good with Excel 🙂
Very useful, Thank you !!!
do you know how to add PDF in the description i´m searching long time to find it because i´m selling on ebay germany cars parts and it need certificate like E24
I'm not sure. I don't know if it's possible.
Did you release your spreadsheet for download? I thought it was but can’t find it now.
I released the most basic form of my sourcing spreadsheet but the website I used to sell the document at $0 no longer allows me to sell it at pay what you want cost so I took it down. Creating that document on google sheets could be done in about 5 minutes if you wanted to create one yourself.
@@cayleyelaine Do you have a video on how to create the google sheet spreadsheet you made?
@@heavenly_haul1187 not yet.
So have your sourcing spreadsheets available? Also do they work for iPhones
Its in her links
Why can’t I find it ???? Lol

@@cayleyelaine thank you so much for info love you videos
how do i create variations for listings?
I don't believe you can do it using the spreadsheet method but below is how to apply it to your listings:
export.ebay.com/en/listings/how-optimize-your-listings/how-to-create-listings-with-variations/
Lots of extra work thats entirely inaccurate so im guessing its actually slower than starting from scratch too. The notebook with cog and selling price is smart though. But if makes employees think they have a head start I can see the psychological advantage.
To each their own. I've tried just about every method and this is what works for me.
I keep getting an error that "Draft" is not a recognized action. Have you encountered that error?
I have not. I would make sure you don't have any extra spaces typed and that you have downloaded the correct template.
@@cayleyelaine ya it's really very odd because I can literally download the template, use their example draft, try and upload it and it complains about Draft not being a valid action.
@@ketchemallcards have you tried contacting ebay?
@@cayleyelaine I have not I will have to try that and see if they have special support for this.
It was a file download error. I figured it out, all the columns are showing up correctly now. Thanks!
So I have 0 experience with excel spreadsheets etc…but between this video and a little google magic I was able to get 25 drafts going 🎉
Can u post a link of one of ur spreadsheets🙏🏻
Hi! Are you looking for ebays template or my sourcing spreadsheet? Both are available.
GAME CHANGER THANK YOU!!!!!!
Hello, could you help me understand how I could create an account in the United States, I already have an account in France
Sorry, I'm not sure. You'll want to contact ebay for help on that.
@@cayleyelaine thez don't know csv
how did you find eBay cagtegory id ?
I looked it up on Google.
Its been yyyyeeeeeeeeaaaarrrrsss I try… I give up cz there is always sooooommmmeeeething🤪
This is super interesting, and I didn't know it was an option. I'm just wondering if using templates is actually easier.
It would be if you didn't already have your titles, cogs, and pricing typed out from a sourcing spreadsheet. I used to use templates.
Is that a swear jar
Lol no. More like a savings jar but good eye!
Brilliant!!
Thank you!
I did not find the link…
Nice!!!
oh my G. . after all that 9 failed. I would of been more upset😢
If you watch til the end, they did actually end up coming over. I think I had the titles or the sku too long so they got cutoff but they did upload.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow I’m so lots
Sorry, it's not for everyone.
😇🙏
Thank you very much.
