- Tyrell is shot. He’s done. He walks into the night, stumbles through the woods, and wanders towards the ringing death knell. He gazes into the purple light like Vincent Vega seeing God in a briefcase. Goodbye friend.
From Mr Robot Season 4 Episode 4 "404 Not Found" Tyrell knocks out the Dark Army agent in the white van. At a remote gas station, Tyrell and Elliot come out to find the van and agent gone. Lost in a forest and walking in a giant circle, they agree they cannot start over or get out. Tyrell wants to give up when Elliot admits he never cared about him; he keeps going for Darlene's sake and wants to warn her before the Dark Army kills him. Darlene realizes Olivia's access isn't enough and the bank needs to be hacked directly. Seeing Elliot's apartment broken into, Darlene fears Elliot is dead. She tries to steal a car and ends up giving a ride to a children's hospital volunteer Santa. She admits all she has left is her brother, who she still loves, despite being furious at him. Dominique has a nightmare about being drowned in a bathtub by a woman she invited over who puts on a Dark Army mask. Waking up, Dominique appears to get her determination back. Elliot, Tyrell, and Mr. Robot find the van has hit a deer; the Dark Army agent shoots at them before killing himself. Shot in the stomach, Tyrell tells Elliot to finish it and take care of Whiterose. Walking into the forest, a dying Tyrell finds a light as the screen fades to white.

It was really hard to accept the death of Tyrell
Agreed, I really liked him a lot, the actor was excellent all the way through. I suppose some consolation is how beautiful his death scene is-Elliot tells him "I can't let you die" but he'd come to terms with it it seems, and his response, "I'm just gonna go for a walk" is fucking perfect and delivered perfectly, all of that with a great score on top.
@@omarbahrour spot on
@@omarbahrour i teared up once the score played and after hearing Tyrells last words.
are we forgetting he’s a psychopath and murdered someone lol
@@Peak6009 I guess we all make mistakes 😂
Some people think Tyrell saw a Blue Screen of Death but I think he's seeing something related to Swedish folklore called the Will-o'-the-wisp in their folklore it's a woodland spirit that glows blue and guides people to the afterlife.
You right
This is the first time I’ve actually bought into a theory of what the blue light was. It makes so much sense. It backs up the idea of what those screeching noises we heard were too!
i've been wondering about this for a while, that's such a cool explanation
Been waiting for years to figure it out. Thank you for the explanation!
Damn thank you dude 💯🙏
I was in denial back then. Didn't accept that he was gone. Kept shouting at my screen "where tf is Tyrell Wellick", until the very last episode.
I'm finally grieving watching this video . Bonsoir Tyrell
This is exactly me. I thought he survived because the blue light was a phone or something.
I thought that anoit angela, I’m like… No shot she just died like that
@@Mono-ni7yuyes shot she just died like that*
Tyrell was an amazing character, wished he’d lived because he was by far my most favourite character behind Elliot and Mr Robot
Blue screen of death, beautiful ending to a character with much more nuance than expected from the first scenes in season 1.
It was a deer trap, the whole time Tyrell was flipping out and so anxious about the "sound of death" he was so worried they'd all die out there he came across the deer trap, they glow blue and make deer noises to either scare away the deer or attract them, so when Tyrell saw it, he realized there was nothing to worry about and that everyone was gonna be fine he let his anxiety go
Considering Tyrell was a KDE user his reaction to the BSoD actually kinda tracks lol
Pulp fiction briefcase vibes. Great ending for a great character.
I kind of like how we never learn what he saw and it’s up to interpretation. Same with what Whiterose showed Angela to gain her loyalty. I like the mystery in both.
It's implied to be the blue screen of death. A clever computer reference.
Bullshit, Sam Esmail just never had any idea himself what were they and made up this mystery to look smart.
@@acjayc then why it makes that noize?
@T Plus, they're literally in the Frozen Woods.
@T What are you meaning saying "the deer", what deer? what is the relationship here?
I genuinely did not want him to die
Tyrell went thru so much man lowkey was sad to see his demise. He’s right behind Elliot in terms of emotional damage
I didn’t appreciate this the first time I saw it, but in retrospect, this is a beautiful ending for Tyrell’s character
While I do think this is one of the less fitting ends to a character, there is something to be said that of all the characters, Tyrell is the only one who really has time to accept and come to terms with his death. No screaming, no tantrums, just acceptance and ultimately peace.
Funny that two main protagonists of the show, Angela and Tyrell, both come to terms and accept their fate, despite how fucing sad and devestating it is for us.
Oh God such an emotional episode! And the "Going for a walk" ost just makes it hard to not cry.
Now that i forgot most of what happened... I need to re-watch this great series soon
That’s the thing about this show.. so nuanced and everything flowed so perfectly.. yet so much happened.
4:01 Literally me knowing the time has come. Au Revoir, Tyrell.
He was shown what the kde desktop environment could be and him being a gnome person he was truly amazed
Nice comment
it's the other way round
Started the show not liking Tyrell but ended the show with him as one of my favourite characters. The richness of each and every character in this show is phenomenal.
Agree !
a xmas especial about a literal (american) psychopath and a sociopath who're in sort of a platonic relationship aimlessly wandering in a snowy forest with no hope for survival... And it manages to make you fucking cry somehow
jesus, this is one of the most unique, ambitious and subtle episodes ever created for any series period. an instant classic for sure
I hardly watch anything outside of Tru TV. But once Mr Robot graced us upon our screens nationally. I instantly got hooked within S1 ep3. I couldn't miss a episode nor re-run for catchup. Fan-Tas-Tic Show. Thanks for making this iconic show Sam Esmil.
This scene forever will be one of the greatest television deaths of all time.
Bro just going back and watching this scene after finishing this show I still bawl like a little baby. His death was so beautifully written and he wasn't just killed off it was so poetic and heartbreaking all at the same time everytime I watch it I cry. I loved him so much in the end.
Tyrell considered Elliot as his best mate. Too bad he didn't get the same treatment. I wish he got what he deserved.
Mark Wallstrom did a very good job. Amazing character.
RIP to my favorite character. He goes out like a boss. No crying, no begging.
3:55 best shot of the series
Tyrell and Joanna felt like a more bizarre version of Adriana & Christopher in the Sopranos, a relationship between two vital characters throughout the show who end up dying meaningless deaths, who could have gotten a second chance if not for an intervening party (the dark army in Mr. Robot and the FBI in the Sopranos).
i miss this show ... really i mean it
Giving Windows BSOD to a Gnome person his last thing to see. WTF this is so brutal.
So much depends upon a red wheelbarrow
despite how terrible i think he is, this rlly hurt me to see. the cinematography is beautiful
I was not ready for this when I first saw it. Not at all. Had me in tears with that white screen during the credits.
Also tyrell remembered that Elliot is uncomfortable with physical contact, so he limited his goodbye to a hand on his shoulder. But he had to place a hand on him, next best thing he can give to a hug cause he knew he was saying goodbye, and tyrell saw Elliot as not only a friend but a way to change the world.
The music and the visuals just make this from any scene to something amazing. You could see this scene with no context and still understand its important.
This show is a master piece.
Man I loved this episode! The BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!
This show is so perfect, I need a Ultra HD Blu Ray release like right now!
Great show and even ended Tyrell on a beautiful yet mysterious note
I hope i can go walk around in nature when im dying.
Just be one with the plains and open like my ancestors before me, in your bed sounds cool but seeing and experiencing that the world will keep forward without you but thats okay cause you've done your part just seems tranquil.
Tysm for this. It makes so much sense now!!!
I can't believe Tyrell of all people got the most somber death in this show. Up until now, it made me realize how much I wanted to root for him.
I genuinely loved Tyrell’s character so sad to see him go
I wish I could rewatch this show for the first time again man
So sad. I can't avoid crying every time I watch it.
Yes...I always thought that Elliot can't suffer more, but.... They always got me. Such a poor missersble man full of pain. It somehow always reminds me how life can be tough. Im glad i found a person thnaks to im not empty anymore As Elliot was. Loneliness And emptyness Are one of the worst feelings
the music in this ending........ tears.
beautiful music for a beautiful scene...
Pine Barrens in Mr. Robot.
i loved this episode so much
The death scene fitted the show well.
This character is so relatable... The 6k suit, all for that to appear like you're not a helpless child inside, screaming for help.
One of the best moments
People think Tyrell died for no reason, but I think this episode showed Elliot that there are people who love him and whom he wants to care for, paralleled with Darlene, who had her journey with Santa to realize that she still cared for Elliot despite her anger towards him. Elliot concluded that Tyrell was also one of those people who cared for him and the evidence was he was willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of Elliot's safety. This is important as this is an argument he had to refute Whiterose in their final confrontation.
Yes he probably died in vain as far as the fight against the Deus Group goes, but this event suggests itself to be a pivotal moment to Elliot's character.
they showed it in the extended cut what he saw, but left it to interpretation whether it was actually there or not. It was a blue sapphire with an engraving that said, "i did 20 fucking years!!"
Hahahahahahhaha
It was Shah oF Iran.
Just wait until Borko hears about this.
“Coney Island… whatever happened there…”
Bonsoir. Goodbye.
At first I thought what Tyrell saw was a portal to another reality.
I thought it was the machine thingy that Whiterose created to make you live in a world that you want same thing shown to Angela. Turns out it was death
I thought his wife was going to show up. sad
It was a portal to another reality if the theory that Tyrell is the original Elliot is true.
best show I ever watched
ic bajs
Saddest scene ever
Most underrated death scene in all of TV imo.
Damn.. this is so heartbreaking..💔🤧
like a master totem or a mster druid so one time this old shaman came up to me
This is played off as a super-emotional scene, but has everyone forgotten what a monster this character was in Season 1?
IN SEASON 1
@@PATATA91R Yes. In Season 1. He never repented for any of that to my knowledge.
u forget the brainwashed by his wife? the manipulation anytime?
@@mashinuv6936 Nah, I gave up watching this mediocre show around Season 2. Besides, a man's sins cannot be blamed on another. Perhaps he _was_ manipulated, but he still chose to act in that way and (as far as I saw) never tried to put the consequences of his actions right.
@@BlackSailPass_GuitarCovers
I'd rather have a flawed, realistic character. Who never did anything monstruous in his/her life?
(The only people answering "yes" to this question are psychos who don't even understand they are monsters.)
I like Tyrell because I understand the guy, I can relate to him (obviously in a less extreme fashion). It's also a tragic character which is interesting in and of itself. Technically every "monster" who has ever existed was a walking tragedy. Nobody is born "evil". Does it excuse "evil"? No, of couse not but compassionate people can still appreciate the sadness and tragedy that "monsters" embody. Tyrell is unlucky, he was molded into what he is and watching him rise and fall was entertaining and sometimes relatable. His obvious traumas and psychological issues evolve throughout the seasons AND he is goofy and funny at times.
It's peak tragedy from my point of view, to be able to transform a "monster" into a human character stripped of anything of value: wife is dead, child is gone (possibly to his wife's family) and meaningless death. He even got his CTO promotion but at this point the job has a sour taste. That's why it is a "super-emotional" scene, because the last seasons built up a tragic character with a fitting end. Dying for no reason, sacrificing everything to help Eliot selflessly in his last moments.
(And to be completely honest, I never considered him to be a monster, even in season 1. I also didn't cry at this scene like many other people commented on this video but I enjoyed the sadness of his death. Killing him abruptly without any music would have been a waste.)
Still can't figure out what he found there
Sometimes villains don’t die in big battles but they just die.The most realistic defeat of villain in tv shows.
i guess he's alive
"i had a brother. his name was felix leiter."
A masterpiece
Time for a 2nd watch?
I have to wait a minimal of 1 year, i was doing this for about 5 years, and i watched this AMAZING SHOW 5 times
It literally gets better on every rewatch. Amazing
He heard "I can't let you die" and was like..."Nah dude, just going for a walk."
this made me cry, i wish he made it to end
I thought something magical happened the first time and he'd come back reborn to stop Whiterose :(
all I know is, great experience
After seeing Leave the World Behind, the very ending reminds me of the very end of this scene
Esse episódio foi o mais esquisito
na moral o que aconteceu aqui ? ele foi abduzido por alienígenas e foi para na outra dimensão ?
Bem que podia ter outra temporada só daquela outra realidade que o Eliot foi
He died, he saw the blue screen of death.
For those looking for the name of the song : 404.4 going for walk
The first time i saw this scene i didn't Realize it's was Tyrell death scene
still so curious as to what he saw there
I got the answer man.
Simply He saw the blue screen of death.
He saw his death.
The blue screen of death is something that appears on the computers when they break down and stop working for good.
It means the death of computers, and since the show is about or linked to computers, Sam Ismail simply implies that by that blue light that Tyrell simply died. And didn't see anything.
@@jaafarmhasan8713 When you explain it like that it reminds me of The Sopranos ending.

404 goodbye friend
Wow
Bonsoir Tyrell
We don’t know whether he died or not. That’s the beauty of it. With Angela, they never showed the body but we had multiple characters confirm her death. With Tyrell, no one ever did find his body.
I'm sorry dude but we very much see Angela's body. We watch them dump two shots into her head over prices shoulder, and they don't cut away so it's very clear it's not someone else or whatever logic tv writers would use.
Dark Army also sent a picture of her to Elliot
We very much see Angela die. Sorry
Angela's dead body is shown for a frame when Elliot talks about seeing her photo. She's shot in the forehead, gone with eyes open, literally no way of being alive unfortunately.
Tyrell was a psychopath and a murderer, yes, but don't forget that all this is due to his wife's fault, she forced him to do what she wanted within their sadomasochistic relationship, and proof of this was when Tyrell disappeared and she found another boy to continue pleasing her own sadomasochistic desires. For this reason, he ends up catching it from her and becomes like her, but even having his wife's virus, he still had a positive part that motivated him to help Elliot to change the world, and try to make it a better one. and the director explains it, Elliot the protagonist with a bad part and Tyrell, the opposite with a good part. That explains why they gave him a "quiet and emotional" death.
What animal is that sound?
i guess tyrell rams crashed :(
Something was not very clear to me from the show, why did Dalene say that she saw Angela after she was killed?
Do you mean Elliot?
We never see it happen, but Whiterose sent Elliot a picture of Angela's corpse. He mentions it in one episode i think. Possibly the one with the safe deposit box?
@@ethanmxmx nah. She did see Angela. White Rose revived Angela with her Machine, like White Rose revived herself when she shot herself in front of Angela. This is what turned Angela to a loyal believer.
@@udopiarecords thats just a theory and one I doubt
@@udopiarecords Except that when she turned on her machine they caused a nuclear meltdown due to the power it needed. So objectively, the machine wasn't on. And the machine is supposed to create an shackle free parallel universe, not revive people.
@@maximiliaanvandijk6111 No, the machine has been built and operating forever now. She is able to revive people with a minimum amount of power. But as she says many times, she wants to use the "FULL POWER" of her machine to bring us into a parallel world. (She was hoping to be reunited with her true love, a world in which he is still alive). Unfortunately, Elliots malware foiled her plans, so we will never really know if her machines full power theory could have worked.
Side note: Early in S4, we see White Rose looking over a projection of her mathematical research, and behind her head you can see an image of the double slit experiment, with 1 of the slits blocked by a wall lol. just thought this was kind of funny
What did Tyrell See?
Simply He saw the blue screen of death.
He saw his death.
The blue screen of death is something that appears on the computers when they break down and stop working for good.
It means the death of computers, and since the show is about or linked to computers, Sam Ismail implied Tyrell's death using the blue light or simply the blue screen of death.he didn't see anything actually, he saw or he knew that he is about to meet his end.
"The blue screen of death is something that appears on the computers when they break down and stop working for good. "
nope.
It's the death of the current session of whatever you're doing but not the death of the computer, I've had my fair share of BSOD in my time :D
Also the BSOD appears blue for windows so.....
Siento que debió tener un mejor final, si me gustó pero pudo ser mejor. Que opinan ustedes
Mr. Robot is my life and inspiration, along with Life is Strange and the Blade Runner franchise 💜💜
👍
I mean he dies quick enough he was probably done for anyway but whiterose not only wanted him but needed him lol he could've gone to the hospital
I just finished watching Mr. Robot the second time. And I just realized that the actual host (the real Elliot) is actually Tyrell Wellick. OMG
This is where Elliot saw the forest painting in the hospital and then he watched the heart beat monitor in the s4e13 after being rescued from the nuclear plant
Aun no llego a ese capítulo 🫨🫨🫨
If it's a BSOD, it's somewhat(?) poetic, but I don't believe it is--from my recollection, there was nothing else like this scene in the show. All of the ambiguous stuff prior in the show was because of Elliot's condition. I've also never heard a BSOD make a monster sound. XD
i can't believe it is bsod since windows os was never mentioned in mr. robot, only unix-based systems (Mac OS X, and Linux distros) were captured in the series and the equivalent to bsod on *nix systems is kernel panic. tyrell was a GNOME guy, so i dont think bsod is relevant in this case
And I never understood what happened to Tyrell , blue light
Blue screen of death.
I saw what ny has become
Didnt Tyrell himself say that he is not a Human ?
Alexander The Great did not say the same?
Hey?
3:46
They show the light of the full moon, coupled with blue-shift frequency, symbolizes the harmony of the soul and nano-particle creation of a blue portal of light into his next destination. Since its a show about computers, the symbology is very fitting. Did he die? Well kinda... if you look at his breathing and how he started to look in amazement, that is not the face of fear, no, its of relief, peace and transquility.
such a waste of a good character
I love the show, but honestly this scene doesn't make any fucking sense
Personally I think he found some sort of technology from white roses machine. We all know white roses machine worked and she probably revived Angela, and every other dark army soldier who gave their life to her cause, including Grant. She tells Elliot “I’m going to show you what I showed Angela” in their final showdown in S4 and shoots herself, because she thought her machine had already bypassed Elliots malware, but she was gravely mistaken.
In fact I think it may be a deer that was hit by a car and killed, and is being brought back to life by White Roses technology. Tyrell is seeing the deers wound regenerate and heal, hence his facial reaction of disbelief
The malware failed because the machine had already started, stated in that episode. Elliot stopped it because Whiterose left that game on the computer and gave Elliot a choice
@@user-ov1ep5rf2l Wrong, watch the episode again. White Rose tells Elliot that the machine had bypassed his malware because it had already started up, which then prompts Elliot to say “No you don’t understand I-“ as if he was going to tell her the malware was coded to be irreversible, or non-counterable, but he gets quickly interrupted by White Rose before he could finish explaining to her. Elliots malware did indeed foil her plans with the machine.
The only question now is the purpose of the game, I believe the game (eXit) is what activates the machine and would have revived White Rose had Elliots malware not caused it to meltdown. I believe Angela did this and saw white Rose revived before her eyes
@@udopiarecords you speak too confidently for a very losse theory that hinges on guessing unspoken words of someone cut off and assuming Elliot could never be wrong
@@user-ov1ep5rf2l Yessir, I am confident in this theory haha. There is a lot of evidence sprinkled throughout the show to make me a believer
