Hello to everyone for Season 2! 😀 Because of the surprising developments in this episode, we bounced off a lot of (probably wrong) ideas and theories. Feel free to discuss, but remember to keep it spoiler free of future episode info! 😎
I was so damned excited when this video thumbnail showed up. The acting before the flashback was so good. When I first saw this episode, I was scared Frank would show a few glimpses of Jack Randall tendencies, and he kind of did! The actor is amazing at teasing the audience, making us wonder if he's going to turn evil. But at the end of the day, he has a soft heart, and we feel sorry for his emotional pain.
I guess being confused by the first episode of the season is the normal reaction. The writers made a quite risky decision here, but you're right, you can trust them. It will pay out later excellently.
I heard in an interview with Diana Gabaldon (writer of the books) that yes, that is Jamie in the beginning of season one, but we won’t have an answer as to what he is doing there. That will be the last thing, from the last book revealed I believe!
Tobias Menzies is indeed an amazing actor, you can totally believe he’s Frank or Jack and despise him and then totally feel sorry for him as his other character. Sidenote: I do the Ren Faire circuit and go to masked balls (well not this year obviously) and I have worn corsets but I had to stop because they’re too painful for me with my back problems and loose skin from a 200 pound weight loss. I love how I LOOK in them but I would imagine for those who can wear them regularly, having worn them myself, they take getting used to, even for someone with no health issues
The Jamie that we saw in season one before she fell through the stones was a ghost. When they got to Invanes the inn keeper was talking about Samhain and the veil between the living and the dead being very thin. She said they might see a ghost, that is how Jamie disappeared.
You two are by far the best reactors out there. You're very perceptive and have great ideas, great empathy. And there will be SO MUCH FABULOUS FASHION!
I’ve been waiting for you to get this episode since you started the series. I was so shocked and confused the first time I watched this and Claire was back in her own time. Also, the costumes this season are fantastic. Just wait. You won’t be disappointed. The costumes from season 2 are probably my favorites from the whole series.
Hello. I discovered your page a couple days ago, and I had to check out your reactions. I'm obsessed with Outlander, the series, the books! I love it all, and I love when new people discover it. I've enjoyed your reactions so far and I can hardly wait to see your reactions as the season unfolds.
Keep on your theories, you guys definitely have good ideas. Go through the show as blind as you can makes it so much better. Can’t wait to see your reactions to everything.
This first episode of Season 2 was all over the place but I was so into it! Then, when it changed back to the past...wow! So fabulous!!! "Their plan is a horrible one" lmao Exactly what I thought! Yes, Claire is vaccinated so so is the baby, no worries there. You will LOVE this season! So much information, so many twists & turns & new information, so so good! Enjoy!
Once again you are definitely on to something on a few points you brought up (won't say which ones). In my opinion this season veers from the books the most but for the most part its still a pretty faithful adaptation. Once I saw Frank again I was really worried about not liking him just because the same actor plays Black Jack. But I worried for nothing. Tobias is amazing and I could still sympathize with Frank. I know not a lot of peeps like him but you could tell from this episode that he's been static this whole time Claire has been away whereas Claire lived her life with Jamie and moved on. So now Frank has the love of his life back but Claire doesn't have hers. So sad, but so good at the same time. I can't wait to see more. Great reaction!!!!
@UThink UCan okay, maybe love of his life was laying it on too thick, but Frank did love Claire. They went on their second honeymoon to reconnect after 5 years apart. In the book they also went to Scotland because they were married there, not just because Frank wanted to trace his ancestry (sorry for a minor book spoiler). In this episode he talks about how it felt to have her torn away from him and he was very upset. Obviously at that point Claire's feelings for Frank waned since she's in love with Jamie, but I dont think his did. I will admit I probably like Frank more than I should bc he's played by an amazing actor who (in my opinion) can seamlessly transition from an academic, cerebral professor whom I sort of like to an evil, horrid red coat captain who did unthinkable things to Jamie and Claire. Anyway good discussion!!!
I liked this episode, I saw the tv series before I read the book, and at first I was a little confused, but I like how they did the transition. From this episode we know that Claire was in the past for 3 years, she left in 1945 (ended up in 1743) and arrived back in 1948. There is a 202 year difference in the times. It is 1744 when they arrive in France, we know she returns to the future in 1746 (1948 - 202), so she has two more years in the past at this point.
Hi Ladies... I absolutely luv Outlander & I'm having a great time watching the show again with you two. It's great to hear your theories about what's to come. I think you'll both be surprised & luv the way it all plays out. Thanks for videos 😊
So pleased to start Season 2 of the Outlander journey with you. Firstly I would say don't worry about disappointment. The storytelling is absolutely first rate and will take you on a journey that won't leave you mad about anything. I think some context about the aftermath of the Jacobite rebellion that ended in Culloden helps you understand why Claire would want to help Jamie try ANYTHING to stop it. For the Highland clans that took part there was terrible retribution that more or less ended their way of life with killings, forced evictions and laws that meant Highlanders were forbidden to carry weapons such as muskets, dirks, or the famous broadsword. Highland dress was outlawed. The playing of the bagpipes was banned. Prayers for the Hanoverian monarch and his family were imposed before school lessons every day. Fines, imprisonment, and exile awaited those clansmen who dared defy the new laws. Strangely it actually meant that many of those left went abroad or enlisted in the army and fought overseas for the British Empire as a way to make a new life. So the little that Claire knows and having seen the life and the people close up and loving them, she knows the danger and wants to try to stop it at all costs.
these ladies are so insightful... too insightful! and they paid attention to the dates (though they didn't really pay enough attention to them to realize they were a lttle off track... but just a little!!!)
Yes finally, so excited to watch your season 2 journey!!! Since I read Dragonfly in Amber before watching season 2, I knew that Claire went back to Frank so obviously I wasn’t confused by it, even tho the beginning of the book and season 2 are very different.
ah the PSTD that comes with Frank's FACE And here's the problem Frank was ALWAYS a very weak insecure man that and I tried to feel sorry for him but he agreed to the set of rules knowing full well she's a different person but hoping against hope that things would go back to the way they were before
Its a 2 year difference. Idk how time travel works because ive never watched anything about it before this. She went back in time in 1945 and its 1743 on past scotland. The battle of Culloden happens in 1746 and it was 1948 when she went back. The costumes are absolutely gorgeous. I love Tobias Menzies. Hes so amazing. As Frank hes so lovable and easy to feel sorry for. Season 2 is one of my faves. I cant wait until you unravel this season. So much happens. Hopefully we dont have to wait too long between reactions
yess been waiting for this!! ❤️ loved the reaction, it will play out nicely this is one of the strongest seasons. the reason it started this way is because in the books it starts the same way! 💕 The book is #2 Dragonfly In Amber
As a Protestant and historically a supporter of the British Empire this part of the series in actually trying to prevent the entire rebellion exited me greatly. xD I understand that most view the series for the romance and dynamic between Jaime and Claire, and I like it as well, but my main interest is military history which the show portrays very well.
I was waiting for your reaction to this first episode. As someone who didn’t read the book at the time, this first episode thru me for a loop! I think you’ll be surprised by what Jamie and Claire can do. The Fashion doesn’t really come into play until the second episode, as in the first they’ve only just arrived, so just wait. I Love your theories but idk if I should say anything about it. 🤐 y’all are pretty perspective. I almost hope u guys will skim thru these after the series is finished just so u can react to your own theories xD also how amazing is Tobias to make you hate Black Jack but genuinely sympathize with Frank xD
It's always a little amusing seeing people reacting to Claire being back in the 20th century. No this isn't how book 2 starts, I will explain to you at the end of this season why they changed it.
I have enjoyed your reactions but I will be unsubscribing. This show is very good but there are a few people on this site that are not nice or rude. Do not agree with them at all. The person that plays Jamie was once bullied on line and he called them out. Then was criticize for doing so. I know how he felt. I hope you enjoy the rest of the show when you get to it. I get the feeling that you are busy either watching other shows or other things. Maybe this is why you have not seen most of this show.
@UThink UCan My first post was about their reaction. But I got someone telling me I needed to remove it. That it was a spoiler. All I said was that the last episode of this season would answer their questions. That it is good one to watch. I did not say what it was about just that it is good. Also that I had the same reaction they did on this episode. Not sure they really know what a spoiler is. But that is my opinion.
Oh, I'm sorry we didn't catch that sooner. We fall behind on comments and such sometimes, especially this time of year due to work and the holidays. Sorry you had that experience and thank you for saying you've enjoyed our reactions.

Tobias Menzies is such a fantastic freaking actor. He kills me in everything he's in.
He steals every scene.
Everyone going through deep emotional stuff
Murtagh: France. Reeks of frogs 😂😂😂

Yes this is correct. The last book of the series hasn’t come out yet & the last scene of the last book will be an answer to how he got there.

thats exactly what i was going to reply, but didnt know how not to make it spoilery. so yeah, there. ♥♥

It was a great touch how Claire complained how noisy the modern era is compared to the past.
I'm glad that you're in Season 2. I LOVE the France episodes (I think mostly because of my fascination with Bourbon France).
Keep on your theories, you guys definitely have good ideas. Go through the show as blind as you can makes it so much better. Can’t wait to see your reactions to everything.

CLAIRE AND JAMIE SO BEAUTFUL
Oh man I'm so excited
The SQUEAL of joy when this thumbnail came up on my recommended! I love your reactions and I love to hear your ideas and theories.

True MVP, laying out that time line for us. We were so all over the place. 😂
YES SEASON 2 THE BEST! 🙌🏻 Hope you enjoy it!

I always loved Frank so much. I also love this episode, but I remember very clearly that it confused me a lot 😅

*master
Oh you would enjoy the books! The story details & plots are more thoroughly explained & have richer details....
It's always a little amusing seeing people reacting to Claire being back in the 20th century. No this isn't how book 2 starts, I will explain to you at the end of this season why they changed it.
It does start this way
@@donnahickl9409 no it doesn't. It starts pretty much the way episode 213 starts. I don't want to put any spoilers though.
@UThink UCan that's hysterical. And incorrect.
u make me want to have a girls night with cooking, make up and hair stuff, and watch the episodes with u ♥♥
