    Fun fact (at least I thought it was!): Bear McCreary shared in an interview that the theme he used for the Comte Saint Germain was actually a composition by the real-life 18th century Comte de Saint Germain himself.

    The sick men on the boat had smallpox. That's why they burned the ship. Tobias Menzies, who plays Frank and Jack Randall, is a great actor and he's a really great guy. The TV show Outlander is based on a series of books by Diana Gabaldon.

    excellent comments Evie - about seeing Black Jack in Frank's face even through Tobias Menzies's portrayal of two distinct, well-formed characters, completely apart from one another.. as this series progresses, these two characters are developed even more, and it's easy to completely lose the actor from those performances.
    fyi, if you have never seen a series called; 'orphan black,' you have missed the absolute gold-standard of multi-character from a single actor performing. - "highly, highly, so extremely highly recommended!" (and specifically for you - I think you'd love it!) -

    To me Frank is ever so much a good man. When he said he loved Claire he meant it as much as Jamie did. Who else would take her back more than two years later, bedraggled and pregnant, heart-sick mourning another man? The biggest difference here, though, is Jamie told her she could talk about Frank to him. She could remember him and miss him. Because Frank had loved her Jamie would always hold him in honor. Frank, on the other hand could not share her with another man, even in memory. He was jealous of Jamie even though he was dead and didn't want Claire researching or keeping mementos. He let her keep the ring temporarily "until she was ready", but fully intended that she eventually give it up. But he was kind to her and kept her well and loved her child. Most men wouldn't.

    • @radicalreactions1633
      @radicalreactions1633 2 года назад

      LMAO, that's just delusional. Remember the RULES FRANK MADE and then breaks. He's anything BUT a good man. Frank doesn't even know what love is, he's a covert narc. Somebody that would "take her back" after that is someone that wants to use her and her child, as we find out later. Plus women couldn't file for divorce until the 70s, so he never would've given her one. LMAO, most MEN would let a woman that so clearly doesn't love them anymore GO, Frank's a little boy that'll never grow up. You're making excuses for bad behavior. Kind to her? Wow, that's pitifully off-base.

    Season 2! The emotions conveyed, as well as the recap and analysis for these Outlander reactions, are so spot-on, so thorough, that as a viewer participant, you kinda forget that the reactor; Evie, is French... until this episode. I did warn you that it would be confusing at first, but you figured it out pretty quickly. Did you pick up that there was small pox among the crew of le Comte's ship? That's why it had to be burned to stop the spread. There's another reactor who has been watching since S. 1 aired who calls le Comte the "pretty evil French guy". That actor is very good looking. This totally threw me off but after watching this episode completly, it was clear that this was a flashforward of a point in the story that has not come to pass yet. I presume why Claire was screaming about the Battle of Culliden and if the British or scots won, is because she experienced it already upon arriving in her own time which means season 2 may built up to those events. What is shocking about this forshadowing is how come clair was able to leave the life of Jaimey behind even saying he is dead and continue to raise the child together and resume a married life with Frank. Something really terrible must of happened in the past.

    I love the 2 seasons but it starts in a desperate and harrowing way with this flashforward. That it was in the future that the heads exploded because we still know that the plan of change can still happen to millions of them, the battle that will happen. His reaction of shock and trying was the best. Claire's return was an event. her scream at the beginning of the episode was pure pain and loss, whenever I watch this scene I can feel it in my soul. You spoke so well after Claire accepted life with Jamie she never thought of going back to her time. and back even more as it happened to come back was to leave anyone bewildered. Claire took a few months to adapt minimally to this return and accept to return to her life. Definitely look at Frank and not seeing captain jack randall was a challenge and trigger.
    Heavy because Frank waited for his wife to come back and she came back as the wife of another man grieving her loss and which it never happened. I believe I wouldn't have accepted Claire after all let alone begged her to stay. I remember being pissed off at his demands the first time because I couldn't accept nor go back to him. plus their demands were super understandable. Frank still has hope of getting back the one they had just been married for years and it felt good. Paris is a new set for the show, stunning scenery just like all the clothes Claire wears this season. they are impeccable. Claire and Jamie arrived in Paris enfolding. And obviously as they are, they have already arrived causing and have already conquered a new enemy Count Saint Germain. Which they didn't let go because their ship was burned because of Claire. Jamie and
    Claire speaking French is so hot

    there's not need for anything to be in the cargo. burning all of whatever was there is lost money for him, cause he cant sell what was there. wether it was wine, spices, imported goods...he just lost all that money he spent buying, because now he cant sell it and get the profit. that would be enough to get anyone pissed at you XDD
    poor frank. is not his fault he looks like black jack and he was happy with claire for 7 years...and now after she dissapears she comes back and he gets 0 love. of course he doesnt know why (unless she told him which i dont know) but he is suffering consequences and pain for things he didnt know. its so unfair to him.
    like, if claire had gone through the stones mid season 1 we would all be so heartbroken for jamie and how that would have affected him, wouldnt we?. well, same situation as frank. poor thing

    • @radicalreactions1633
      @radicalreactions1633 2 года назад

      How was Frank "happy" with Claire for 7 years when they were APART FOR 5? And he spent MORE TIME on their SECOND HONEYMOON with the REVEREND THAN HIS OWN WIFE, that's how this all happened. I don't feel sorry for him and neither should you. If you paid attention to the story you'd know that Claire told Frank EVERYTHING and then never repeated it because of his own rule, so he knows why and yet he still expects her to get over it and be a "dutiful wife," he's just as delusional as ya'll that defend him. What's unfair is for HER to have to forget everything but still be able to HEAL THE TRAUMA and move on without being able to talk about it, yeah that's not how PTSD works. Jamie had the guts to LET CLAIRE DECIDE FOR HERSELF, Frank's just a puss that isn't man enough to let a woman be her own person, after all to him she's just MRS RANDALL.

    • @Maca494
      @Maca494 2 года назад

      @@radicalreactions1633 i will feel sorry for whomever i want. and franks story is a tragedy too. he lost his wife and when she came back she didnt love him as he did her. so it was as getting back no one. even worse. someone who doesnt love you.
      also you cannot compare the situations of frank and jamie. yes, jamie gave her a chouise when he knew her husband wasnt really dead. frank didnt want her to leave him again cause he knew she would...he was just hoping she would forget or love less jamie...as she did with him...
      the people who cant see the torture of not knowing what happened to his wife for 3 years must have been for frank are cruel. without a reason. what evil had frank done to deserve that? and then the pain of knowing his wife had the chance to comeback and didnt?? (if she did tell him that, which i dont remember). knowing she could have come back sooner but she didnt cause she was with other man is painful, and thinking he deserves it is cruel and terrible.
      if you feel bad for jamie's pain without claire you can understan franks pain. at least jamie knew she was safe in her own time...frank didnt know if she had been raped and murdered and they hadnt found her body or what. but no sympathy. cool

    • @Artimes.
      @Artimes. 2 года назад

      @@radicalreactions1633 Wait what? I did not see frank in that light at all. He is very much a victim of tragedy and loss as much as Claire has experienced. Probably even more so with Frank, because his actual wife who he has known for years, was taken from him and and even then, she was commited and thought about getting back to him but after being in 17th century and falling in love with Jaimey, she is the one that made that choice, falling for a guy in a different time period that will most likely end up being just fairy tale that will come to an end. If you ask me, she is the one that is a bit unfaithful some what living in a world of dillusions. Jaimey is a great honest man though, he gave her a choice, she chose the one she wanted and left the life of frank behind.
