The whole point of using silicon pipes is so they don't expand. Saying they expand and therefore let more air through is complete bollocks. There is no reason it would expand even if it could, it's on the intake. It's before the turbo. There is no pressure.
For those also doing this mod, you can use a small amount of engine oil and rub it on the inside of the silicone hoses. That will make it ALOT easier when you fit it and you can move it ALot easier into place before clamping everything. Your welcome 😜
Where do you got it from ? I live in France and there’s not as much choice for performance parts for my ST 225 as in UK .. I want to delete this baffle too but can’t find the delete pipe
Makes a huge difference upgrading the turbo to crossover pipe. I did mine on my EO st today, I have the dreamscience CAI located behind the front wheel, sounds really loud, especially with forge recirc valve and forge actuator 👍🤙🤙🤙
Sounds immense now mate, definitely made my mind up to do it too mine. Love the vids dude, helping me get through this lockdown shit. Cheers mate Shaun
great video definitely look into getting one myself. but can i recommend some fabric wiring tape for your ecu wires to tidy it up and protect them. easiest way is disconnect battery and unplug the ecu and then wrap the loom it tidys it up alot.
Silicone hoses don't expand on the cold side that's the sucking side so anything from airbox to turbo is vacuum hence why most of it is hard pipe, from turbo to intercooler is the pressured side.
Oh cool info. mate. I was umming and aaring about getting one of those as I've put all new pipes on up to that point on the induction side. I just thought that last one was a cosmetic change until now, I did not know of any baffles in there robbing us of lovely sounds! I still have not taken my bonnet duvet off yet, yes I know I gotta get it ripped out. Cheers guys, stay well and hope Luke feels better after mumps, I hear it's not a good thing to get when you are not a kid, but maybe that's an old wives tale, I dunno. Shame we don't have an OBD2 port so we can just plug a reader in and see what's up. Diagnosis would be easy. Oi mate you got a covid19 code up, bank 1 lol.
I’ll give you a good tip, from silicone pipe you do get a better flutter but with spending the same amount you spent for the silicone pipe you can get better sounds and performance from a titanium pipe with a nice polished look
Wow every days a school day! I didn’t not realise that about that turbo hose was going to change mine anyway but just thought it was just a nasty looking stock hose 😂, great vid mate need these during isolation lol!
I don't think they make the same boost level in idle so you won't get the full effect. The engine will need to be under load i.e. driving, to get the full effect.
Yes and in 15yrs when these become collectable and very sought after , people will be ripping all that shit off and paying fortunes for the original thrown away parts .
These will not be collectible in 15 years. It’s all about the RS, as the RS badge has pedigree. Just look at the prices of the mk2 RS vs the ST today, they are miles apart.
It's hard to think of the reason Ford put the baffle in there originally. Was it for strength? Surely not sound depression as they went to all that lengths to introduce engine noise into the cabin with the sympothsiser plastic gubbins.
Did you find that your turbo to crossover pipe bends a little when you connect the crossover back to it? Did mine yesterday and I'm not sure if it's at the wrong angle
i hope if the belt harness is being used that you have adjusted it, seeing people actually buckle up with the buckle across the stomach like that is bad, put it round the waist
Joshua Carter if your running 300+ the silicone pipe gets hot and sucks itself in when you drive hard and cause problems I went back to standard pipe and been fine ever since
I was going to get silicone crossover ducts from mountune...any idea if they have the baffles in? Obviously I want some nice turbo flutter too. Who doesn't?
There aren't any baffles in the RS I've spoke to someone who's already done it.. im still fitting a silicone one though as he said there was a difference in noise and they have a larger bore
remove the Standard pipe and jump on it or put in a vice just break the plastic baffle no need to buy a silicone pipe. if going bigger turbo then change. The whole point of using silicon pipes is so they don't expand. its sucking there is no pressure anyway.
It a bit sad when you have to take a carrier bag with you in case your stopped by the cops . Lol but the sooner we all start staying in the sooner we can all get back in are ST ‘s I bought mine just before the lock down so I haven’t even drove it yet 👎🤬👎
Myself and luke just stay together and don’t see anyone else really. As we live together it’s easy to do car mods and just time using the car with when we’re on way somewhere

I've seen people recently take the 'silencer' out of the standard hose, don't do this people, the standard hose will collapse on itself under boost 😅 just buy a proper silicone pipe 🙏
@@GCMYT get rid of the recirculation valve and fit a blanking plate. It will flutter like mad, and you also remove the risk of boost leaks from the recirc.

I was just about to comment saying the same thing
No silicone hoses DON’T expand, that is the whole point of them!!
I got a good laugh when he said that
Dropping that air silencer makes a massive difference, you'll really hear those flutters after the valve mods.
For those also doing this mod, you can use a small amount of engine oil and rub it on the inside of the silicone hoses. That will make it ALOT easier when you fit it and you can move it ALot easier into place before clamping everything. Your welcome 😜
No, please don't lol. Engine oil causes silicone hoses to swell and causes all sorts of problems. If you need to use a lube, use silicone spray.
Wow it sounds like a MK3 cortina that’s low on oil now 👍🏻 amazing
ive now ordered one of these after checking my focus and realising i still have the standard pipe! thanks george

Just so you know bigger pipe doesn’t always mean more flow and silicone pipes will only swell under pressure, this is pre turbo so vacuum

Block the factory bypass valve for flutter. Theres a vacuum line under the top of the timing cover, block it.
