Problem is cold Turkey suboxone is next to impossible for the average person to recover from. It effects most of your body in ways that only long term users will understand.
Post acute withdrawal is very real and last for years after long term suboxone. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. So horrible.
Sadly this is where people break and realize they don’t have the strength to live like that.

My advice ALWAYS get prescribed more than you need. Then take what you need and shelf the extra. With bupe you generally have a 2 week induction. You report back to the dr. Next, 2 months of "stabilization". After the initial dose make sure you tell them the dose was too low but it helped a little. Then do the same for month one and two if needed. It is a c3. The respiratory depression effects of the medication have a ceiling so if money permits you could probably get on 24 mg / day or even up to 36 mg / day for the film and usually the target is 16mg I noticed in the first couple of months of his hard to consistently take the same dose because you want to make sure that you are really doing as well as you can be I think the doctors know this for the most part and they're willing to compromise for the most part if you just honest about wanting to take more medication because you think you'll feel better I don't think they will have a problem unless you have a history of abusing this medication specifically which I don't think happens as much as the media wants you to think.
My buddy is struggling with his 16mg and wants to go up to 24 mg but is worried about the dr thinking he wants to "get a buzz'. I don't really understand 100% but for the most part I don't think they're too worried about that because of how well of floods The receptors based on my research into pharmacology. I am not a doctor or a pharmacist. I have studied psychology and have my DiMAP, so take this with half a grain of salt.

The key to successfully getting off Suboxone is to taper really slowly, like for months, then when your body is use to just a tiny piece that’s when you jump.

Mr Rossi, we know that taking other opiates can be less satisfying when buprenorphine is in the system. Also, people's experiences say that the injected naloxone in Subutex doesn't cause withdrawal from buprenorphine, likely due to not being able to displace buprenorphine from the receptors.

Buprenorphine overdoses are documented, but it’s rare. It has a ceiling effect with respiratory depression, unlike heroin, or fentanyl or all the other opioids. And it’s important when it comes to the stats to trace what’s actually causing those deaths. Because it those higher numbers could be due to the higher rates of relapse, when people stop buprenorphine, and those effects and the mortality rates come from the relapses. Because the withdrawal isn’t deadly for normal heathy people

What a silly statistic. Thats like saying you will be happier when talking heroin, than when you stop taking heroin. Suboxone addiction has acrguably far severe withdrawal than any other opiate.

Ibogaine is the answer, it gets you have everything in a couple of days and resets all the neural transmitters with no withdrawals but then buprenorphine and methadone wouldn’t be the harm reduction heroes that they are if it were legalized

    • @outtosea25

Ibogaine nearly killed me coming off subs and I was still in wd. Ibo does not work well for subs/methadone. The ibogaine "clinics" are so shady. So many deaths and complications. I once was a rabid Ibogaine advocate, worked in 3 Mexican quasi clinics. All the providers relapse and so did I. Ibogaine makes you go completely insane.

The study is pinned here in the comment section. To me it makes sense the risk of injecting contaminated drugs from the street is far greater than being in MAT treatment. It places you at risk for all types of medical complications including serious infections. MAT is not perfect but it does help people under the right circumstances
