Alyssa, is one of the sweetest souls that I’ve met. Whenever she first told me how they met I got the “kilig” (butterfly type feeling) she truly loves and cares for Aj. She’s super wise for her age and seriously just wants nothing but the best for people whether it’s her family, friends or strangers. I miss you, Roomie! I was laughing and tearing up throughout the whole video.
They were my customers at a local fast food chain, AJ is very nice and humble human being, so is his girlfriend. It was slow at night and AJ, his younger sister and Alyssa walked in and when I saw AJ I was like "He looks familiar, let me take this dude's order." He ordered a beer battered fish tacos and yes, I will never forget that. After I took his order, I asked my manager a permission if I can take a picture with him and she said "Yes you may" so I approached him and I asked, "Excuse me, you're AJ Rafael right?" and he said "Yes" and I asked "Can I get a picture" and he said "Sure, I appreciate it man." It was the most exciting moments ever working at Del Taco as a cashier Lol. Thank you AJ
the compromise in understanding around these exes is really big for Alyssa. I'm not sure if he fully gets that or maybe this is something they're genuinely built differently on but the ex-girlfriend thing appears to really hurt her (but could be the editing!!). I'm wondering how he might be able to keep the meaningful ex (from here on out called 'ex-to-friend') in his life while also illuminating a boundary for the 'ex-to-friend' person so that it's clear she/ they respect(s) his current girlfriend/boundaries of his new relationship in a way that feels genuine, authentic, and sustainable. Exes sometimes have inappropriate boundaries/ forget that they have 'new' boundaries that are more appropriate once they are no longer the partner. The responsibility of this ex-to-friend person, if they are really a friend, is to support the health of his current relationship. The responsibility of AJ would be to talk through that with the ex-to-friend. If a relationship is healthy, that's the role of any support system/ community is to be a loving context in which you function and in which the important things in your life can be held. If the ex-to-friend person showed up in that way, I feel like that could reduce the anxiety that Alyssa has. Is it possible for the ex-to-friend to also build a genuine and authentic relationship with Alyssa? Also, is thinking through this worth the emotional labor? Does Alyssa feel unseen in trying to communicate her needs? If Alyssa had an ex-to-friend person in her life, it seems they would still have to go through this process if AJ felt unsure/ uncertain - clarifying that this approach isnt one-sided. Insecurities are normal parts of the human experience, and I'm curious about the 'both/and' where everyone gets to keep what they value in a way that feels good/ in a way that doesn't cause potential harm.

I think AJ looks at past relationships like I do. Past girlfriends may not have been the"one" for me, but I still fell in love with them for their qualities. Maybe that's why I have such a good relationship with my ex. We both remember the good qualities and leave the bad things in the past.
It is a very inspiring love story! In love, both of you can have a lot of differences, but still you try to accept those to make your relationship grow stronger.

Well, you should stop trying to compare your life to what you see on TV/ RUclips/Facebook/Movies, etc., because it is not reality! People like this (using as an example) are mostly projecting the good things about their relationships, and are often embellishing the truth a bit as well. Even when they talk about the negative stuff they are like " oh, it does not really bother me, it is kinda cute". Maybe in some ways they mean it, but it also annoys them and becomes more of an annoyance after all of the fun and cute stuff is over. They also may never talk about the stuff that REALLY bothers them If you want to make it in a relationship then you need to have realistic expectations of the person you are with, and they need to be realistic about their expectations for you. I've listened to so many damn friends of mine that JUST DON'T GET IT! They constantly think the grass is always greener in someone else's life. They hear people talk about their travels on Facebook ,etc.. and they think that is always their life. They fail to realize about this thing called 'relativity', - which is when they have something that you do not have and you think how wonderful that would be, while they don't really even think about it that way anymore, since they have it. Let's say you love exotic cars. That person that can buy cars like that.. they may have a lot of fun with it at first, but that stuff wears off eventually and you are just driving another car that you have to still pay off ( maybe), or you want to trade in for something else because you lost that feeling when you first got it. That is how a lot of people feel about relationships as well; it loses its initial excitement and you are just left with a relationship that takes work, money , :-), and just gets old... and a lot of these people do not want to do all the work, they just want to go get another fun car ( relationship) If you are like that.. just don't have kids! Everything in life is a drug.. and you eventually build up your tolerance to the drug.. so enjoy in moderation.
