    Thank you for another great video. I’d like some way to remotely play back using Filmic Remote. When I’m shooting piece to camera, my iPhone is on the tripod on the other side of the room and I frame up and start and stop recording with Filmic Remote on my iPad. Works really well. But I can’t play back the clip I just recorded.

    Blake, I noticed on the volume keys trigger recording, if I have external mic plugged in it just raises the volume on the input and not actually start the recording. Slightly bummed with this bc when I have my Rode Wireless Go hooked up with Osmo Mobile 3, I cannot use the record button on the osmo to start recording in Filmic Pro. However, if it's just the iphone and the osmo then it works. Noticed you had unplugged the mic when you demo'd the feature. Any work around?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад +1

      You are correct. If a mic is plugged in it won’t work in the same fashion. But it will work if you use Bluetooth connectivity depending on the device. For example that simple start stop remote shown or with some gimbals. Not sure if that would with the Osmo mobile 3 though. Don’t have that one to test it out. Hoping filmic pro will add direct support for that gimbal soon too.

    I don’t know but for me this application does not provide the same quality video as the default app. The video itself without adding any specifics it’s full of grain and or noise with this app. Samsung S10+

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад

      That’s interesting. Might be the case on certain devices. But typically speaking third-party apps like this are considerably better if for no other reason being able to shoot in higher bit rates. But also manual control of course.

    New subscriber here, thanks for a great channel. I’m brand new to this and don’t want to be a cinematographer but want to make better videos w my phone for general information. Do you have a playlist for that or would your course still be applicable? Thanks!

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад +1

      That’s pretty much our entire channel. :) In all seriousness, we have lots of different playlist on our channel depending on what you’re looking for. If you want a deeper dive that is structured with detailed content all in one place then one of our courses could be a good choice. FiLMiC Pro course will focus on FiLMiC Pro not filmmaking in general, the Smartphone Cinematography is a more rounded course on using your phone as a video camera including using tons of different accessories. Don’t let the “cinematographer“ word scare you. :) Hope that answers your question and thank you for subscribing and watching!

    Great tips Blake! Unfortunately the presents don't work well with my Pixel 4. When I save the preset, the frames and shutter speed don't save. It might be like that for Android 🤷

    • @iphoneographers

    When I lock in the 1/48 and it goes red it's all good but if I press stop on the recording or change the phone from horizontal to vertical it will change it. How do I stop this? Cheers

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад +1

      If the manual controls and arc slider are showing (not hidden) then it will stay locked. If you close that and then the exposure reticle (circle) is red it will also stay locked. If either of those get unlocked it will change. It should hold even when going from horizontal to vertical (just tested it works here) but it will unlock if you switch cameras. So not sure why that’s happening. Could be a bug. You might restart the entire phone.

    I always shoot in 4K 60fps and some FilmicPro functions are not available with this setup like flat or log and zebra. And as always I use the Osmo 3 I prefer to use the DJI Mimo app, especially for the tracking function. And now the app offers full manual control.

    • @romainprovost7164

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад +1

      That’s a limitation of the device not Filmic Pro and it’s primarily a heat issue. Shooting 4K 60 already stresses the device and adding log on top of that could easily overheat it quickly. But yes it is true in 4K. You can shoot 60 in HD though. It’s very possible in the next generation phones it will be available though because the iPhone 11 has proved to be a much cooler running device.

    I can't find anyone in RUclips talking about the FilmicPro remote shutter problem for iPhone users ..I notice that the when Im trying to use remote (bluetooth) shutter and have external microphone connected its doesn't work as should on iPhone 11Pro .When pressing the shutter , instead of trigger the camera action it just increasing phone sound volume.
    Its significant issue for me if I can't use remote shutter ..Because of that Im asking for refund . Anyone have the same problem ?

    what's the best way to import the footage shot on my iPhone into a MacBook or my desktop pc? I think the prospect of shooting on an iPhone is great, but apple's terrible and constantly changing UI is a huge obstacle. I hate iTunes and iPhoto as they constantly need to be updated and always try to sync all kinds of other things I don't want. I've tried a few apps to see my iPhone as a drive but not any good ones at the moment. even the ones I used before like phoneview aren't reliable and don't work like they should. Curious how you're making this work. thanks

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад

      Best and fastest way is probably Airdrop on a Mac. On PC use iTunes File Sharing is really the best. You can also upload to Dropbox or Google Drive, then download those files to your NLE.

    • @sean.sullivan
      @sean.sullivan 4 года назад

      @@iphoneographers i find that air drop is really really unreliable. If i send 20 one minute clips, it may or may not send them all. Then, I have this huge arduous task of having to figure out which ones sent and which ones it didn't. So, send LESS of them then right? then you're stuck sitting there manually transferring tons of files in small chunks. Apple's file naming scheme from device to device is also a headache. I think ip[hone filming would be great if it wasn't for the whole debacle of the apple eco system. Google drive on the other hand has proven to work well. Thanks for that recommendation.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад +1

      With phones prior to the 11 would always send under 10 files at once. And longer files… Anything over one minute would probably send 5 at a time. Now with the 11 though you can send pretty much as many as you want. But, if you have dozens or more files then it’s just best to connect with a wire. You can drag and drop them all at the same time with File Sharing. Unless you’re running Mac Catalina and right now you can only do one at a time, but that will hopefully be fixed soon.
      Other options would be to connect your phone to an SSD drive either wirelessly or wired and use the iOS Files app. Use this all the time with LumaFusion, but it’s good with FiLMiC Pro as well.
