      RZ - don't forget that you'll need at LEAST 200 hours of running in before it shows its best and settles down. DO NOT do any adjustments before you've accrued this about of time as it changes day by day during running in.

    After an appt w/ our CPA doing our taxes, our refund was 6X larger than we expected. We always split the IRS refund, so I had the money, and with no other needs ATM, I decided to be a very bad boy.
    We already have two good TV sets. The 50" Pioneer Kuro Plasma from 2008 in the basement, and a generic 37" LED in the BR. Regardless, yesterday I bought the 55" C7P without the boss with me and without her knowledge. And no, we were not in the market for a TV. I left the LG at BB, as I was too much of a coward to bring it home until I come up with my rationalization for the purchase to the boss.....
    Best plan at this moment...
    "I bought this for the bedroom. This is such an improvement. With the LG's size, I hope it doesn't overpower the room.
    (I will set it up in the BR...and let her say it's too big)...
    Now I say, "Well, I could bring the Pioneer upstairs into the BR. It's smaller and will fit better into the room, while being much better than the set there now."
    "And, we can give the current BR TV to David (our son who lives elsewhere), which will be bigger/better than what he has."
    I then I bring the new LG into the basement man cave...
    Am I good, or what?! :) SHE'S GOING TO KILL ME......

      @davybloggs1564 6 лет назад

      George - just grow a pair of balls and tell her what you've bought, and why. A 10yr old Plasma and a 'generic LED are not really to classed as 'good TVs'! You were well overdue for a replacement - that's IF you actually watch TV on a regular basis; does she btw?

    I have a LG E6 OLED flagship model for past 2 years and I have multiple serious screen burn in issues which are very very visible. These OLED tvs are very fragile / delicate and it is extremely difficult and maintain these super expensive screens. MY ADVISE GO FOR A NON OLED TV. Features like Panel Noise Clear and Pixel shift are gimmicks and there is nothing you can do once you get single or multiple screen burns. Getting a new screen from LG is as good as the cost of buying a new OLED TV. Now since I cant throw away this super expensive oled TV, I primarily use it strictly for watching NETFLIX / Amazon Prime extra or movies that I play through download or blue ray players. For all other regular channel on DTH especially News channels and entertainment channels like Sony, CNN or BBC etc which have bright logos I prefer watching them on my Samsung TV which unlike OLED does not have screen burn issues since it is Backlit LED technology. Trust this review will help readers in making a suitable decision in buying a new TV. If you own a OLED make Double sure on regular basis that all your main picture settings like Brightness Contrast Colour OLED Light etc. are in mid range which is in between 45 - 55 range, anything higher will triple your chances of getting a screen burn which is irreversible damage. (Especially if you are in Quarantine due to Corona Virus and spending hours at a stretch watching your favourite programs on your OLED TV. Stay home and be safe...

    • @SolidWorksCAD3D
      @SolidWorksCAD3D 6 лет назад +3

      The "OLED light" setting is controlling the ABL in Dolby Vision mode. LG simply used the "OLED Light" entry because it already was in the UI ;). HDR10: OLED light = OLED brightness; Dolby Vision: OLED light = Automatic Brightness Limiter

      Yes, probably. You should enter Picture Mode menu and choose game mode there. I don't even use that for gaming though so I suppose I have 30-33 ms input lag using Expert Mode: dark room (custom settings). I really should try setting up my game mode and see if I can notice a difference in lag. So used to playing 33 ms input lag from older lcd LG tv.

    I find the contrast setting affects dimming (ABL), to stop it doin any dimming I have to go down to 30!
    I think I’ll live with it the lowest I’m willing too: 87
    (Oddly, the oled panel brightness makes no odds to it.)

    are you sure about the warm2 and 2.2 gamma. warm2 back everything look a bit too yellow and 2.2 seem to kill a lot of the detail in dark areas. I have the OLED light set to 17? unless there is meant to be different settings for tv and movies content.

    • @davybloggs1564

      Pen - Yeah - Warm2 is awful. Far to 'warm' and not natural at all. I don't understand/see why calibrators use it. Every TV looks crap on Warm2 IMHO. I use Warm1, which looks far more natural.

  • @HullRupture
    @HullRupture 3 года назад

    So you keep recommending to set sharpness to 0 for LG sets. But I've noticed the default for calibrated presets is 10. Either seems correct to me and I don't think there is an actual sharpness difference between these 2 values also judging by a test someone else did. However there does seem to be some scaling/anti aliasing effect going with lower resolution content from another video I saw that smooths out pixel edges slightly. There's forums all over the place arguing between sharpness 0-10 so wonder if the experts here would investigate this further.

      I use my 50" plasma as my monitor AND gaming setup. It's about 5-6 ft away from me and it tends to stay on most of the time. (although I've tried to get into the habit of turning it off when I go to sleep and when I leave the house to go to an appointment. - i'm disabled so i'm always home unless at a doc appt) Anyway, my son helped fix the burn-in issue of my plasma when I first got it. He did research and found that if you run alternating screens of red, blue, green, and .... white or black, can't recall, letting each screen remain for a certain amount of time each (30 sec or 1 min?) and just let them cycle like that for hours and hours.... as long as you can... you will basically "break in" the plasma cells and in a sense inoculate your TV from perma burn-in. I've had this TV since Dec 2012 and so far it has worked great! We probably ran those panels for a total of 336+ hours altogether. A few hours here, a day there, or a couple of days if we could. But as soon as we finished using the TV, we'd start the color panels cycling again.
      I was so hoping there would be some sort of preventative technique like that for the OLED TV as well! I mean, we didn't get to use our new TV as much for the first month but we made a sacrifice to try to expand the life of it. I'd be willing to make that kind of sacrifice with the OLED too. Been trying to find one like it. Haven't been successful yet. =(

    • @Anjalena
      @Anjalena 6 лет назад

      Oh, and with my TV being on as long as it is, and me playing games.... you think I'll be okay with the B7A? I play things like Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, Fe (GORGEOUS extremely colorful game), and about to try out Splatoon 2. Never played either of the Splatoon games before.
      I'm not a shooter type. Closest I came to shooters is Vice City. *rofl* I'm more an RPG, Adventure, and Platformer type with a few other oddball things thrown in, like the Sims. I do have concerns about HUDs in things like RPGs and games like The Sims. They tend to have static HUDs.
      If I keep the brightness down like you mentioned Ro-Tang Clan, do you think that might help keep me from getting perma burn-in? (along with regularly doing the maintenance that the TV provides, of course)

    Isn't 2.4 or BT.1886 gamma correct? Pretty much all calibrators use either of those settings.

    • @brunogm
      @brunogm 6 лет назад

      Tomiply SMPTE recommended 2.4 for modern displays before the BT.1886 was defined by measuring many Hollywood colorists actual displays used for mastering.

    What's the better setting to improve dynamic resolution in terms of true motion? I don't want any kind of adjustment for the soap opera effect, because I don't like it, but I want the maximum resolution as possible on the screen, considering I will have many scenes with movement.
    I saw another calibrator saying to adjust de-blur to 10 and de-judder to 0. It's a big difference from yours. I don't know the precise difference between de-blur and de-judder.
    Thanks for any help.

    I recently bought a C7, but I can't get it to run at 60 FPS with a PS4 Pro for some reason, does anyone know how to check the FPS on the TV. I've tried to play Gran Turismo Sport and Horizon Zero Dawn and I can clearly see that it's still at 30 FPS, any help is appreciated :)

    There are 2 settings that I disagree with here; contrast and brightness. I use my C7 as a PC monitor so I know what Windows is supposed to look like and using a contrast above 90 produces a lot of clipping. Rtings, plug your LG OLEDs into a PC, open up explorer or "This PC" and you'll see what I mean. Folder icons and access ribbon bars become heavily saturated and washed out. I've found 85 to be the sweet spot for contrast. A similar story for brightness too. I've found 50 brightness to be too washed out. You only need VERY small adjustments here, but I found 48 to be perfect to give deep blacks without crushing them. Although I'm not too sure what colour temperature is best for 6500k as the scale is different in Game mode. Same with Gamma too. Mine are set to W10 for colour temp and Medium for Gamma. Is this accurate?

    • @Tomiply
      @Tomiply 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, contrast is supposed to be at 85 for no clipping. Also, the BT.1886 gamma setting should be used when watching film in a dark room.

      As for Game Mode, you should use a gamma of 2.2 and W45 for the colour temperature to get as close as possible to 6500K. Hope that helped.

      LazerMajor "Medium" gamma is the same as 2.2.

    Guys, I need help. I bought an LG 65'' C7 and when I run 4k movies from my PC to the TV the video seems to be stuttering. I don't know why. I can see it at times when the images are moving sideways. For examples viewing houses from one side to the other. That's when it seems as if it were moving periodically (stuttering) and not fluently. I made the LG primary display, set the resolution correctly, i'm sure it's not the player or the video because it happens on all of them. I just don't know how to get rid of that stutter. It's not extensive, but still, one would expect that not to happen on a 3500€ TV.
    Not sure if it matters, but i'm running it through an nvidia GTX 1070 gfx card.
    Somebody please help
