I know this video is old, but I’ve had a B7 for a minute and until this day I havnt had this type of calibration until I watched your video....my guy, you have changed my TV experience for the better, and have given me the ability to enjoy my purchase to the fullest extent. Thank you! Seriously...thank you for this.
I guess its just a taste thing, but i had to change 4 things, what made a huge difference in a good way for me and im perfectly happy now with it. Your video gave me an awesome base, so thanks a lot. If the settings in this video are too dark and warm and too less colourful for u, then try something like that, AFTER doing exactly what he said. Change to that: - Black Level: High - Colour Temperature: Medium - Contrast: 100 (or a bit lower, if that feels more fitting to u) - Colour: 70 (or lower if thats too much for u)
Out of the box the 65" B7 destroyed my plasma. This calibration has only made an amazing picture even better! Thank you and let us know when dark room calibrations are available.
Darko, do you recommend you tweaked 2.2 even for watch material in a dark room? its seems thats settle pretty nice, its more close to default 2.4 than default 2.2(too bright overall)!
Hey Darko. Thanks for the videos. I recently purchased a 65E7 and I am trying to understand what Deblur at 10 does. I do not utilize any Dejudder because I can't stand the SOE. However I watch a ton of sports and really do not see any difference between TruMotion off and TM set at DJ 0 and DB 10 as you recommended. I am just looking for a reason why you recommend such a setting and do you have any ultimate recommendation for sports watching? Thanks again!
Hi Darko, thanks for this tutorial, I use your settings on the 65inch screen. Looks awesome. Do you recommend the same settings for NETFLIX content as well? As some movies/series work with Dolby Vision as well now. Right now I customized there the CINEMA presets CINEMA (USER) now. Looks good, but maybe you have a recommendation. Cheers and thanks again for sharing this!
awesome calibration! so we can use this for cable basically right? since movies in HDR has HDR settings on its own... and this calibration will also look great on Apple TV streaming?
It is useful for lower resolutions such as SD, digital or analog sources. If the source is highly compressed then it is better to disable it since it would also sharpen compression artifacts and make them easier to see.
Hi! 20 point white balance allows fine adjustment of both gamma and RGB balance from dark to bright. 2 point is actually 2 zones as you adjust RGB balance for dark and for bright and then you refine it with 20-point control. This is highly individual adjustment so copying it is just to try it out or for experimenting - only true calibration will give you correct values.
Yes, I use gamma 2.4/BT.1886 in a dark room. Since the last update "ISF Expert (Dark Room)" looks great by default (I just deactivate any sharpening to get the most natural picture). I will try to activate the "Light sensor" and see how it effects picture quality. Thank you!
Hello Darko, I set my C7 to your recommendations and it looks great! My question is you said to hit "copy to all inputs" when I do and go to the other modes they all show zeros, so I copied your settings to the other modes, was this the correct thing to do?
Kako si Darko? laughter........... my Croatian is slowly eroding as time moves foreward.......... you've been extremely helpful to my limited understanding of calibration..... and i do have one question for you. My faovrite pre set on this TV is teh "dark room" setting, and Im starting to realize thats due to the low OLED illuminance setting. I love watching sports when time allows, and I would like to know what setting you would use where some type of motion smoothing does not introduce that awful soap opera effect? thank you.
Dobro sam, John. Nadam se da si i ti dobro :).You have Croatian roots? Regarding motion smoothness, if you want to avoid dreadful soap opera effect while still getting the benefit of 120 Hz panel, you need to use TruMotion - User - De-Judder 0 and DeBlur 10. Also, for sports it is good to increase OLED Light and lower the gamma.
po malo, po malo Darko...hvala te puno .......Sorry for the delayed response, and I think this is the correct spelling without the aid of google, laughter...... Yes my roots are from Gorski Kotar up north, well my parents are from that region as i was born here. and you? I bought this brilliant panel a few weeks ago and followed your settings to a tee.............. wow! Extremely helpful and i cannot believe the quality, .............. I have a Pioneer kuro and Panasonic ZT, and I can honestly now say this OLED panel has finally finally put plasma to rest as the reigning champ...
Do you have best settings for an lg tv from 2017, iam in sweden and the modell is lg60sj810v. Iam using most of all gaming mode and cinema/home? Thanks in advance
Hi David - yes, that's pretty much what you need to use - for watching movies use Cinema or Expert picture presets and for gaming use Game picture preset with adjusted Color tone to Warm2 (or if you have a slider for Color temperature, slide it all the way to Warm to get accurate colors). Adjust LED brightness as you prefer for your environment.
Hi - I had a chance to measure one unit from that series and discovered that Cinema and Expert presets are the best ones to be used out of the box. Adjust OLED light to suit your viewing environment, sharpness to the value you find OK for the content you are watching (increase if you watch standard-def or leave default for HD) and play a bit with the TruMotion setting. That's all :)
woow hi Darko!! i copied your settings 1:1 to my OLED(yes even 2point, IRE and CMS) and its AMAZING how accurate the picture its now :O, i know that panels are different but really you settings hit the target with my panel. l always find the 2.2 gamma a little too bright, your settings make te gamma much better to see(not soo dark like OOTB 2.4) but great for a dim to dark room. l use Oled Light 36 for about 45fl, any suggestion will be appreciate.
hi I purchased c7 version and applied your setting, What I noticed colours are not that rich bit yellow, what can I change to improve colours?I like sport, live settings colours are very rich. Regards
Hi - regarding yellowish image, I recommend that you check out this video: ruclips.net/video/-JEFu2M2tt8/видео.html To get more dynamic image without sacrificing image accuracy, you can increase OLED LIGHT and reduce Gamma as a first step.
Heard about it but haven't tested it yet. This weekend we have Zagreb AV Show so LG will showcase some of its OLED TVs and I will try to arrange that I get a sample again for a review to check this out.
"HDR settings will only be as a PDF since I do not have enough time to make a video about them..." is a weird way of saying "yeah, gimme 5 bucks for that"
I want to buy your pdf for oled 2017 LG models. For what i see there is SDR and gaming settings in the pdf. On Facebook you respond to someone in october last year that HDR and Dolby Vision are also in the works. Are the optimal settings for HDR (gaming mode also) and Dolby Vision added in the PDF? I do not mind to pay, but hopefully i have it all complete when i make the purchase. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Nema na čemu :). Ima u mojoj trgovini s postavkama, no generalna smjernica je odabrati Game predložak za sliku i podesiti slično postavke kako su u Movie/Expert modovima.
TV Calibration with Darko ok care. Uzet cu cisto da te podrzim jer ako vec mogu izdvojiti 1800 E za tv mogu i 5 za tvoje postavke. A ima li sta za netflix postavke?
TruMotion enables panel to work at 120 Hz, leading to higher motion resolution. For movies you can either use User with Judder reduction at 0 (or 1 or 2 clicks to the right, depending on how much judder in movies annoys you) and Blur reduction at max. value or enable Real Cinema. For RUclips I recommend TruMotion as mentioned above.
Hi All! I have a question regarding upscaling. How do I know if my TV is upscaling a certain content? I usually watch 720p and 1080p movies on my B7 from external HDD but the picture quality does not seem to be upscaled for me. As I heard the tv upscales automatically.
Hi Petty! Your TV is automatically upscaling all content to its native UHD resolution. So no matter which is the resolution of the input signal, TV will do this processing to display the picture. But you can play with the amount of upscaling by turning on Super Resolution option in the expert controls submenu. You can also raise Sharpness value till you find result you are okay with.
Hi Tonissi - program scan and calibration are 2 completely different activities. Calibration involves adjusting the picture to be closest to the original source and to be adjusted depending on lighting conditions of the room. You can calibrate the TV on your own, but then you will need equipment such as this package: store.portrait.com/promotion.html As you see from the prices, it is better to hire a calibrator with the reputation who will do the calibration for your TV for a fraction of the price. You can find dealers here: imagingscience.com/dealers/
you cant, basically. only thing you can do is tone it down a little for less artifacts but it wont go away completely. its bothersome on some games, but quite goodlooking on others imo
i appreciate the effort of the video, but personally i really dislike the warm2 tones you recommend, to me it makes everything look yellowish like a bad instagram shader. i like to run cool temperature and tune the colours way differently, primarily increasing sat on red green and yellow.
okay, i have watched your video. the intended calibration may be balanced in some scientific sense, but i dont enjoy looking at it. my tv is an LG C7 and my content is primarily video games which to my taste lack red green and yellow, and i want the overall cool temperature. my white may not be 'accurate' by any expert standard but it looks very white to me. i dont feel that i should get used to color settings i dont like, even if some color theory says otherwise. theory cant dictate what i enjoy.
i bought this tv today and had to increase brightness from default 50 to 60 because I got black crush in almost every picture mode! For example in Netflix's Dolby Vision was also dark. In HDR Cinema home or Cinema again from 50-60, when watching a movie Prometheus 2160 HDR from minix u9h
Hi Nino - nice purchase you have made :). Interesting that you mention crushed blacks - have you checked any black level pattern to verify that TV is crushing 17 and above values? You can download free AVS709 test disc/patterns here: www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/948496-avs-hd-709-blu-ray-mp4-calibration.html
dynamic contrast must be also off in isf dark and bright? What about dynamic contrast in HDR and DV modes? For example DV doesn't quite achive the 'punch' even with oled light 100...
For the punch in HDR turn on Dynamic Contrast (that is actually Active HDR tech. built into LG 2017 UHD HDR TVs). Low is just fine but go for more if needed.
Yes. Normally, 0 means no sharpening is added on TVs, but for LG's OLED TVs, 10 is actually 0 point. A setting of 0 essentially means -10. Confusing, I know.
Correct, 10 is the default. I know because Digital Foundry measured that 10 had no additional sharpening. Look here for more information: ruclips.net/video/nXx9DSuY3hs/видео.html
No, Dolby Vision has separate settings, but from my analysis you are fine if you use it at default values, just play around with TruMotion/Real Cinema until you get a satisfactory result.
Also waiting for the comparison with the 55POS9002. Also in particular to how fast movement (like football) does on both. And ofcourse how the ambilight adds or doesn't add value. And not to forget the OS :)
It is impression like that since image before had too much blue with too little red and green. Check out this video to learn more: ruclips.net/video/-JEFu2M2tt8/видео.html

🎉 Thank you so much I wouldn’t have been able to do this on my own. You’re a superstar xxx 🎉

Hi Darko, my boyfriend bought LG Oled 65 7 D . Do u think those settings will work as well? How did you calibrated the TV?
Hi! Yes, tips are applicable to 65” that you have. Full ISF calibration was done.
Hi Darko, how can i calibrate the TV just by a technician?
H i Darko sorry to border you, but how I can calibrate the tv just by a technician? Is it not enough if I make the programm scan?
Thank you man !!! Where you are from? The HBO go app is available at your LG store ??? Here in Brazil this app is not yet available ...
2 years late....he's from Croatia
Nice Settings for "Bright" Mode! Do you have any calibrated settings to share for "Dark" mode and "Sports" mode? Would be much appreciated!Cheers
Thanks for your recommendations. Much appreciated.
Is Super resolution good for Cable or IPTV channels ranging from SD - FHD?. What is the best use of this setting?.
It is useful for lower resolutions such as SD, digital or analog sources. If the source is highly compressed then it is better to disable it since it would also sharpen compression artifacts and make them easier to see.
Hello great info! I noticed you had HBOGO app added on your tv, would you mind telling me how you did that ?! Thank you!
With these settings will I also see improvement when watching you tube and 4k video through my pc?
Hi Darko! Love these settings on bright room. How do we transfer then over to dark? Is it the same settings?
Hi - basically you can copy them and decrease OLED Light and increase Gamma.
Hi Darko, great video brother. Can you please explain what the ire 20 point settings does? i don't understand the purpose of it. Thx
TV Calibration with Darko thank you. Is the default 2 point white balance good enough Darko?
I'm thinking of buying a new OLED TV. Will these settings work for LG 55EG9A7V?
Great video! Have you experienced a BURN-IN so far with your tv? any solution to prevent it? Thanks.
Hi - I had this TV for about a month and except for a temporal image retention that quickly went away, I did not notice any permanent burn in.
Thank you that response
Thank you, great video! One question: What SDR settings would you recommend for a "Dark Room"?
For dark room I would reduce OLED Light and increase gamma. You can also activate Light sensor.
Yes, I use gamma 2.4/BT.1886 in a dark room. Since the last update "ISF Expert (Dark Room)" looks great by default (I just deactivate any sharpening to get the most natural picture). I will try to activate the "Light sensor" and see how it effects picture quality. Thank you!

Hi Ronny! Copy all settings does not copy all settings like Color Management System etc. For that you need to manually copy to each input.
A bi se dalo narediti en kratek video kako se to naredi. Hvala

Do your PDFs contain calibration settings for ALL picture modes or do you have to “donate” separately for each? Please advise.
Hi - for this TV you get 2 PDFs - one for general content (from live TV to Blu-ray, including tips for watching sports) and the other is for gaming.
What is the best Trumotion setting for watching cable or streaming IPTV?.
With Judder reduction at 0 if you do not want soap opera effect.
hello how can i take a screenshot(capture) while smartview is connected..???
Cao Darko. Da li postoji neki nacin za izmenu screensavera naovom tv-u. Hvala unapred
Merci 😊
What about game mode ?
Do you have best settings for an lg tv from 2017, iam in sweden and the modell is lg60sj810v. Iam using most of all gaming mode and cinema/home? Thanks in advance
Hi David - yes, that's pretty much what you need to use - for watching movies use Cinema or Expert picture presets and for gaming use Game picture preset with adjusted Color tone to Warm2 (or if you have a slider for Color temperature, slide it all the way to Warm to get accurate colors). Adjust LED brightness as you prefer for your environment.
@@TVguyDarko is that all there is then? What about advance settings and picture option?

Can you post what the default settings are?
When is this PDF HDR game mode calibration settings coming?
Great calibration
However, I find lowering the oled light to 21 makes a big difference in a darkened room and for watching films
Great video
Thanks! Yes, you should adjust OLED Light to the level you are OK with.
hey is it correct that both samsung neo 85a and 90a are really accurate even without professional calibration ? thanks
They are accurate but still you can improve them by doing a full calibration. But I would say 85% od full calibration is done out of the box.
@@TVguyDarko thank you, in my region there are no professional calibrators anyway so i got what most people say is the accurate out of the box. 👍
Will contrast at 86 or 87 clip the whites or still good range?
Best to check it with this or similar pattern - ruclips.net/video/lRh7I9PDz5E/видео.html

Yes - do you have any questions?

So it’s been a little while and a few updates since then. Any updated setting advice?
Just checking that - video coming this week.

can anybody tell me how to stop this tv asking me to retune every couple of days, I am connected by antenna
i bought this tv today and had to increase brightness from default 50 to 60 because I got black crush in almost every picture mode!
I've just done that and appears my default is 60, at 60 17 is black, 18 is barely visible
dynamic contrast must be also off in isf dark and bright?
What about dynamic contrast in HDR and DV modes? For example DV doesn't quite achive the 'punch' even with oled light 100...
For the punch in HDR turn on Dynamic Contrast (that is actually Active HDR tech. built into LG 2017 UHD HDR TVs). Low is just fine but go for more if needed.
Interesting, but if works like that on your model then that's how it should be. Do you have Technicolor picture preset available?
Gracias.
Actually, H and V Sharpness at 10 means no additional sharpening is added. 0 actually makes the image softer than the source.
Va bene anche per xbox?

Pozdrav Tomislav,
Hvala na prijedlogu, ako bude prilike svakako napravim i taj video.
thanks
hello oled b7v users, can you answer me please?it's very important for me.
Black level must be set on High! We're all using 0 - 255 .
For PC yes but for video content limited range.
TY
Please do settings for Dolby Vision!
Or is this same settings as HDR?
No, Dolby Vision has separate settings, but from my analysis you are fine if you use it at default values, just play around with TruMotion/Real Cinema until you get a satisfactory result.
ps559002 video coming up?
Also waiting for the comparison with the 55POS9002.
Also in particular to how fast movement (like football) does on both.
And ofcourse how the ambilight adds or doesn't add value.
And not to forget the OS :)
+sanjosanjo1986 Doing it this evening.
TV Calibration with Darko thanks. So happy with this TV so far
Also do you know how to change that built in chromecast to show 50hz? Maybe you can check that when reviewing the philips
Hdr please.!
Warmth 1 is better for my taste
Ok, this is still way better (more accurate) than default picture.
I was going to pay (much money) for calibration. But now I think it not necessary. After your guide.
2:23 everything turns green
It is impression like that since image before had too much blue with too little red and green. Check out this video to learn more: ruclips.net/video/-JEFu2M2tt8/видео.html
yeah man I understand it, but the skin is literally green in cinema. I go with Standard because it look better
