DIM SUM in Honolulu's Chinatown || [Oahu, Hawaii] - Развлечения
That’s my Aunt’s restaurant! She sent me this video today! Thank you for supporting!!
That's awesome! Her restaurant is our go to dim sum🤤 Mahalo for watching🤙🏼
My sisters and I are coming this saturday!
Do they have Dim Sum every day? Please say yes!
We're from maui and I had a doctors appointment on oahu yesterday. We flew over early so we could go to fook lam. We enjoyed it very much. I liked the nori seafood wrap and my wife liked the taro puff. We mentioned your names and several workers remembered you were in the back corner. Thank you for your video.
In Cantonese, the taro puff is called "wu gok" which means taro turnover. The flaky shell is achieved by mashing the taro with lard, salt and wheat starch (similar to corn starch). When it is deep fried, the taro dumpling puffs up. Amanda, the seasoning you taste is called 5 spice powder, and Chinese cinnamon is one of the 5 spices along with star anise, cloves, Szechuan peppercorns and fennel seeds. I've eaten at Fook Lam, good place for dim sum, one of the best in Honolulu.
Yes, please do a Chinatown walk through. It's been a while for me. Thanks.
Thanks for letting us know, I've heard of 5 spice powder but didn't know thats what they use! Very interesting! Thanks for watching🤙🏼
I’m gonna keep tweeting your videos out. The more viewers the better!
Awesome! Thank you for watching and supporting🤙🏼You're the BEST💞
Would love to see the Chinatown walk through 👌🏼🙏🏻🥰
Hot mustard kind of guy who orders the fried taro, crispy shrimp won ton, chive or shrimp dumpling, baked char siu bun and at times the potstickers as well.
Can’t wait going to Hawaii in 12 days 🙌🏾🙌🏾. Love the contact💗
Awesome! Thank you for watching🤙🏼 Hope you can enjoy the great food Hawaii has to offer!
You folks are "Jamb" lol
😁🤙🏽 Love it! My husband is Hawaiian and from Kahalu'u, O'ahu. He LOVES Dim Sum😛😛, and so do I🤗
Please support Fook Lam. It is hands down the best dim sum in hawaii. My boyfriends family owns it but even before we started dating this was my favorite place. The hagau (shrimp dumplings) are the best, better than anywhere else.
We've been going to Fook Lam for years! 🤤Thanks for watching🤙🏼
You guys are PHENOMENAL tour guides - love all your vids.
Hot mustard anytime, but please no chicken feet for me🤣. Bon appetite guys🤙
Nice to be updated about what’s going on around town on the foodie scene .. you two are great hosts .. hope we can travel without quarantine again soon .. 🤙
Everything looks so Ono Thank You Amanda And Filex LOVE and GOD BLESS You 😙⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘💜💙
"Shumai coming" is something I get a lot of here at L.A. dim sum restaurants. Lol.

Fook Lam is Cantonese and I bet super amazing! Looks amazing! However the Blink182 t-shirt is a huge seller for this video! haha
It was delicious🤙🏼 Definitely our go to spot! & thanks for noticing the Blink shirt! One of Amanda's favorite bands!
@@AmandaFelixEats Amanda, go check out Alex Melton on RUclips. He does Blink182 style covers for other pop and country songs. It is done so well too! I listen to him on a daily!
@@zennoodle Nice! I'll definitely check it out! Also, have your heard Machine Gun Kelly's new Punk album? It was produced by Travis Barker and has that Blink Nostalgia vibe! Been really into it lately😆
@@AmandaFelixEats I’m not a fan of MGK but I’ll take a stab at it! Thanks!

The chicken feet are my favorite things to eat at a dim sum place!!!

I love this video
Aloha Amanda and Felix, LOVE YOUR VIDS! I'm not Chinese, but my wife is, and we also used to go to Fook Lam's for Dim Sum when we were living in Honolulu. We're not living there now but some of the other great dishes that I remember that were really good were their Juk (congee), Lotus leaf rice (glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf with some minced meat type filling usually pork or chicken), Steamed meatballs, Rice noodle roll ( Cheung Fan steamed rice noodles with or without meat or vegetable filling.) and for dessert their mango pudding, sesame balls and their sweet red or black bean soup were great. Thank you so much for all your vids!
I also love to eat, drink and travel, too.
After working at home for about a year, and gained weight, so I'm on a diet now, but I feel happy watching your channel every day and feeling like eating.
It is very interesting that you introduce Japanese food as I live in Japan. Will definitely go to the restaurant that you two introduced once the Covid-19 situation is settled.
I do believe the number of Japanese viewers will increase more and more.
There are many restaurants I would like to recommend here in Japan.
Let me know if you have a chance to come!
Thank you for watching and supporting🤙🏼 We can't wait to go back to Japan! Hopefully traveling will be safe again soon💞
That is great dim sum I have eaten there a number of times I've also eaten at Legends and I have eaten that both places in the cultural Plaza. I know where your coffee place is I have gotten some of that coffee and it is strong. Would love to see more of Chinatown it brings back wonderful memories until I can get there thanks for the great work
The taro fritter is called 蜂巢炸芋角(feng chao zha yu jiao ) or just 芋角(yu jiao). Literally meaning beehive fry taro dumpling ^^ I only know mandarin, so the pronunciation I gave is the mandarin pronunciation, but it's a HK thing so the pronunciation will be different cause of Cantonese. ^^
Thanks for watching and letting us know! 🤙🏼
OMG, love this video so much...what a nostalgic vid for me. Used to live in HI 1999. Chinatown still kinda looks same, especially Maunakea market place. It was a very famous food court at that time.
Would love ur Chinatown walk through.
Now you speaking my language 😆 love dim sum! Hot mustard and chili with shoyu that's my dim sum dipping sauce.
Yes walk through

I love the chili oil. Dim Sum is my favorite!! You guys make me hungry, even when I’m full. 😅
Felix you are the MAN! Great explanation of delicious cuisines! We are visiting in June from Texas. Hope to run into both you and Amanda.
By the way, my wife and I visited a small hole in the wall last March 2020 called Ken's Fish in Laie (area I grew up as a child). Check it out when you get a chance. Looking forward to bringing the kids in June. Take care!
Wow variety dim sum look yum yum I Food Leveling
China town has changed ! But I do remember back in the day ! The Dim Sun looked onolicious !!! Thank you for sharing the new & upcoming dessert shops ! You two are awesome !
Right?! Especially with the pandemic, Chinatown is different! Thank you for watching🤙🏼
I💜 hot mustard gotta have 3 dishes, hot chilies is something else I pour it all over food🤙🏽😎🌺
Never tried that! Thanks for the idea, definitely gotta try it🤤
Yes...please do a Chinatown walk through
Vietnamese iced coffee is so yummy! Being Filipino, the ladies at our local pho restaurant in the East Bay of California often give me a warning that the coffee is so strong. I’m glad they do give that caveat upon taking orders for the Vietnamese coffee, you are right, it is that strong. But oh man is it so so good!
Good to see you guys gaining subscribers!
Us too! Thank you for watching and supporting🤙🏼
The best
Locals but from Hilo so when we go to Oahu we don’t know where to eat so we just eat by our hotel. You’ve shown us so many places we want to try. Now we know! For sure Fook Lam is on our must try list! Thanks! Subscribing now.
Thank you for watching and subscribing🤙🏼So glad we can show you places on Oahu to eat🤤 We'll for sure need your help when we go to Big Island one day!
I've only had dim sum in Vancouver, Canada, B.C. However, the one you guys showed looks even better I need to try it!
Vancouver is another place we would love to go! I hear their Chinese food is the best🤤 Thanks for watching🤙🏼
We did try this Dim Sum before heading to airport for our flight home last Friday. 👍🏼
Watching you video on that Dim-Sum restaurant you are at. I lived in Hawaii back in the late 60's & early 70's and use to walk by Fook Lam a lot but never realized it was a dim-sum restaurant. What a loss. Enjoy you woo down all that onolicious food.
Wow they were there back then too!? Thanks for the info! Definitely check them out if you're ever back here🤤 Mahalo for watching🤙🏼
Looks great guys might have too try it if I can find it in Tulsa Oklahoma thanks guys see ya next time
Hope you can try it one day🤤 Thank you for watching🤙🏼
I am a new subscriber and love your videos. I’m planning to go back home once my son graduates HS in 2024. I hope to see you then 😊
Mmmmm you guys are making me want dim sum now!
Combination of mustard & chili sauce!
Every time I want jook I go to Fook Lam. They have the best in Hawaii
Definitely gotta try the jook! Can it beat my grandma's one though?😱
J'adore dim sam
love your vids! guys need to go to papa oles when you on the north side and get some peanut buttah rolls.....ono grindz 🤙🤙🤙💯
I’d like to see more Chinatown videos. I grew up there and remember when maunakea marketplace was being built in the 80s.
Thanks for watching🤙🏼Maunakea Marketplace is so different now with the pandemic😱
New subscriber here! Born and raised on the big island. My wife is from Kaneohe. Love the videos I've seen so far!
Thank you for watching and subscribing! Welcome to our foodie ohana🤙🏼
Looks ono, they got da kine shrimp toast there? Oh yeah, subscribed!
Double 3's egg puff is yummy
Thanks for sharing, we arrived on Oahu last Sunday and went to Gen barbecue at Pearl ridge yesterday, it was ono.
Awesome! Thank you for watching🤙🏼 Glad you enjoyed Gen!🤤
That dim sum looked so good. Miss going out since COVID, but I’m gonna give chicken feet a try next time.👍
We were just at Fook Lum yesterday!! Some of my favorites there are the Xiao long bao (soup dumplings,) the beef tendon and tripe. They probably have the best chicken feet around. Next time I suggest you order the salt fish fried rice. Killahs!!
We love salted fish fried rice, gotta try it at Fook Lam next time! Mahalo for watching🤙🏼
Thanks!
Mahalo for the Super Thanks🤙🏻
My husband and I started watching your vlogs. We really enjoy them! Please don't change a thing!
On a side note..
Have you two ever done a review on the Mexican restaurant called El Cucaracha?
Thanks for all you do!
Mahalo for watching us and your kind positive words🤙🏼 I've walked past that El Cucaracha place a million times but never tried it, it is a place worth going?
It was nice to see my old Chinese school. It was called mun lun school and it’s located right at Chinatown
Happy days Chinese restaurant up on kaimuki👌
Rewatching right now! Good thing too, I forgot to add some business' to Google Maps for my trip in September!!
I have to go!!
You made the right choice and went too the right dimsum👍
This place is so ono🤤
@@AmandaFelixEats best dimsum on Oahu. Second best is happy days in Waialae
my brother took me there when i moved here in august and he said the same thing "youre not coming to river street alone, okay" lol
In WA they only serve chili sauce. I was hot mustard, now I down with the chili sauce. Can’t wait to get back to HI. 🤙🏽
I didn't know some places don't serve hot mustard😱 Thank you for watching🤙🏼
They have the best dim sum. You should try the Shanghai dumplings, these dumplings are filled with pork and soup. I suggest the Look Fun with short ribs or spare ribs w/ black bean sauce.
Aloha from San Francisco, CA! Just found your channel and watching your videos made me miss Hawaii and the food soooooo much!. The dim sum at Fook Lam looks ono authentic! I never crave dim sum when I am in Hawaii. Wonder why... Next time I will definitely go eat there. Not sure if you realize the white slightly transparent wrapping of the steam dumplings (ie: Har gaw - shrimp dumpling) are rice noodles. It is used as wrapping for the steam dumplings. It is cut into slivers for chow fun. Keep up the great work. Love the videos and it makes me so hungry!
Thank you for watching🤙🏼
That place looks good. We always go to legends in the cultural plaza, but we need to give that spot a try. Have you guys been to Tim Ho Wan in waikiki? I LOVE their baked char siu bao. It's sweet and savory. 🤙 Keep up the great videos.
We have tried Tim Ho Wan! It is good but pricy especially because it's in Waikiki😱 Thanks for watching🤙🏼
Decided to subscribe based on Felix's " how to eat chicken feet tutorial". Hilarious!
Awesome! Thank you for watching and supporting🤙🏼 Welcome to our foodie Ohana💞
Wow, now this is getting scary. Last time, I also went to Itchy Butt and ordered the exact same thing you did. This past Sunday, we also went to Chinatown at lunch time for dim sum, but went to Golden Palace instead. I actually did not know Fook Lam had dim sum. In the plaza, we usually go to Legends or to one in the corner by the travel agency (forget the name). We also got the same things you ordered except the seaweed roll. Never tried it but looks good! You should also get the crispy shrimp one with sweet mayo. It was in this video next to the egg tarts. Must try Fook Lam next time! Thanks for the interesting vid!
Wow! We share the same foodie brain😆 We usually get the fried shrimp won tons and share it with felix's sister🤤 Thank you for watching🤙🏼
