Hi Sarah - I loved this video and I love your channel! I am an older US Military Veteran (50’s) and I took a vacation day today (Monday Nov. 11th, 2024) since the company I work for doesn’t observe the Veterans Day holiday. After waking up, I was doing a little internet surfing on my iPad Pro. I like to hike and I like New England a lot so I guess RUclips’s algorithm figured that out and decided to serve me your channel this morning! Glad it did. I liked your hikes (especially the one in Stowe with the animal placards on the trail), I enjoyed your tour through Burlington, and I liked the tours of your vehicle setup and also your fellow car/van-life friend’s van (I liked his stickers from the places he’d been). We love your content here in Cleveland, Ohio. Be safe out there and keep tight with the other car/van-life friends that you trust - in the military they always taught us to live by the “buddy system” (“safety in numbers”). Your sunny disposition and mood were very cheery even when you “got the knock” - the world needs more of that. Positive Mental Attitude! All the best to you, keep on keeping on! Hey, that's my stomping grounds! Lol! I've lived in Vermont my whole life. I lived down town Burlington for many years and I walked or took the buses everywhere I needed. I've spent a lot of time on Church street and on the waterfront. I loved it and I miss living there. I'm currently live 40 minutes south in Ferrisburgh, Vt. where I grew up. I find it pretty ironic how others are jealous of others living their best life! If they're watching us live our best vehicle dwelling lives, then they're certainly not living theirs! Funny how others can be jealous of someone with less things living our minimalism lives. Perhaps they're too scared of judgement to be their true authentic self! Great job on the New England trip Sarah! We relocated down South after living in NH for 24 years wonderful years and miss New England greatly. Your state by state series brought us back to many of the same spots where our family memories were made. Thanks so much for taking us along 👏✌️😁
Great video! I’ve lived in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont my whole life. It’s a beautiful State, but the older I get, I don’t care for the long winters like I used to. Keep up the great videos!
I am 5 minutes from Vermont border and we are already cold and lost 90% of our leaves. Last year we never went below zero (I keep track). We typically will be -18 for a few days out of a year around 4am.
girl no way i work near that parking lot you found and that is the most UNSAFE parking lot i have ever experienced, the amount of drug deals and people that have died in the van you parked next to is insane, so glad you didn’t experience what usually goes on there!
The short morning hike was a great way to break in your new hiking shoes and the tree art alone, was worth your while, even if the higher view of Stowe was underwhelming. Love your thoughts here as being a collector of memories and experiences!
Just watching this, first time viewer, you do a great job filming, editing and music choices are great too! I'm sure a lot of work behind the scenes. Onto winter here in the northeast, have a good upcoming 2025!
So true about living minimal. Materialism is bondage, most are trapped in it and don't even know why they're miserable. Life is much more fulfilling when you have great experiences and make good memories. That is freedom to me.

Hi Sarah, This was a very nice trip. I enjoyed it all. I never traveled much, but I’ve sure seen some really nice places going along with nice people like you and Nikki. So, thank you for sharing your fun times with me. I’m 77 and loving this… thanks. 🙋🏻♀️🥰
I love your breakfast you’re so cute Sara ❤. Always carry something to defend yourself especially when you get the knock. You never know who it is. Enjoy your day sweetie.
I am a new fan of your Sarah 🥰 I am so glad you got to see New England, I am a New Englander and live in New Hampshire, and there's no place where I'd rather live anywhere else it is so beautiful here, the change of seasons and each state has its own little differences to make it unique..
Oh Sarah! I’m so proud of you! I’ve followed you from the get go due to seeing you on your cousins channel, before starting your own travels and channel. Love that you haven’t tried to copy her but have been true to yourself, personality and different travel style! Keep on keeping on…
Just so you know - the best place in Vermont to buy apple cider donuts is at Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury which is close to where you went when you went to Ben n Jerry's... it is just down the road a ways.... There are a few other places in Vermont that also have good donuts and cider etc but I can't think of them all but one more is at Hackett's Orchard in South Hero.
She was at Cold Hollow… guessing it was a slower day, so the donuts sat around. Burtt’s Orchard in Cabot is the current Cider Donut Champion in Vermont.
Just found your video. I live on the border of NY, now retired I worked as a sheriff in Washington County route 4 corridor was my area. Vermont is a beautiful place and desirable to live. Great video, be safe!!!
Bummer on "the knock", but at least it was a Park Ranger and not a bear. As for the videos...I always enjoy videos of my hometown, and being from Boston, that means ALL of New England...even Connecticut...haha. So thanks for the tour! Looking forward to what's next for you!
Sarah, you should have stopped in to The Roastery coffee shop, the Nomadic Movement RUclipsrs own it. Thanks for another nice video with good historical information. Loving the content. Much Love 💕
My absolute favorite video! Thank you for your video, I am supposed to visit before purchasing land and absolutely love your video. Thank you so much !
Cool video I grew up in this area and cotton Brooke is so instantly recognizable for me haha after finishing the whole thing had to edit this comment I really enjoyed the whole thing
Sarah, Thanks for the tips to keep bears at bay, and hope you never have to put to them to the test. Always a joy to have you show us some fun places and their unique history and fun facts. Be safe on the road and on the trails, Thanks for Sharing...
I never appreciated having an apartment with a big bed and heat until I had to live in my car for 2 years. There was a lot of pros to living out of the car but far more cons. The biggest cons being places to sleep uninterrupted and temperature control. I was very north and in the summer there were still nights where I had to pitch a tent and sleep in a tent. Usually would just fork over the 15$ for a campsite for a few nights and it was alright. But ya I don't regret doing it! Every night after work I actually appreciate my shelter now and made it into a nice little cave. Just a tiny 400 sq ft studio which I probably would have complained about and kept a wreck if I didn't know the other side. IT's all about perspective!
Knock! Knock! Cold showers are standing cold plunges, so Nikki would be proud of you.😁 From one leaky mouth foodie to another, stains are reminders of foods we love. Be safe and be well as always, Sarah!👍🏾💙🤍❤️🙏🏾
Sarah, your photography and videography skills have moved into the professional realm. Always entertaining, as well as informative, I'm never bored! Thank you.
I agree, you can definitely see the difference between her first couple of uploads compared to the previous few uploads. I feel the videos are put together really well without feeling over the top like others channels are.
Coming from someone who was born and raised in Vermont there’s actually a lot of beautiful places with rich history and nice people, but like everywhere there’s down sides to 😊😂
You’re so right about materialism these days. That’s some great insight. I also love the honest review of the doughnut. Not everything is the best thing ever.
You are very pleasant. Great presentation and thanks for sharing. I lived and worked from my car for over a year(not by choice). Truly teaches how to seperete necessity from luxary. I remember appreciating a jar of peanuts like it was gold.
Quite an accomplisment to do Katahdin without significant training! Good for you! You do a great job and most impotantly you are very easy to listen to. Youve come a long way since your “guest appearances with your cousin! Ok young lady Always listen to your brain, but more impotantly follow your heart❤
That is a right of passage being a car camper, ha ha!! Glad it worked out for you. Love that part of traveling and changing your mind on the fly. Yeah things don't always go as planned but then you find another way, I'd be passing on the cold shower though. Nice tour of the state and town, added to my list.
I just found your channel. I love your videos, especially how you give so much information about where you are visiting and how you camp and what you use in your travels etc. Thank you.
Next time you go to Vermont you need to climb Camels Hump. My favorite climb. Gorgeous views at the top plus if you go on a certain trail you will find an old plane from the 1940s that crashed there. I think the wing is all that’s left.
I found your video today. I will watch a lot because I love traveling and car camping. I'm headed to Tampa in December to compete in the Senior Games track and field meet, and watching your videos will help make the experience richer!
Hi Sarah! I’m clumsy as well so an easy quick solution for any food stains is to quickly put water on the area and blot it dry to absorb the dirty water. The area will stay wet for a bit, but it may prevent you from having to change your clothes as often.
Great area! I live not far( 30 minutes) from Stowe and Ben and Jerrys! My daughter goes to UVM and lives in Burlington! Loved this video!! New subscriber!
Aw you were camping so close to where I live. I technically live in Woodstock VT area, and we love to frequent the Stowe area. VT is a beautiful place and I’m glad you got to enjoy it.
I clicked your video because of the title…I had to know what “the knock” is!! The next time you’re in Stowe, drive through Smugglers Notch. There’s some awesome views and hikes in the notch and the drive itself is an experience. I relate to your views about materialism, but I’m a child of the ‘80s always looking for the next shiny thing!! Thanks for the great content, you’ve got +1 subscriber.
Very cool i saw at the end it looks like the rockfield going up mt washington i defintely got to hike that again first time was 1996 i was only 23 at the time it wasnt too bad but towards the top i did need to take a quick rest to eat some granola and chocolate mix once my blood sugar got up the rock field was easy thats one great day I'll never forget
She didn't show you the homeless, beggars and junkies in Burlington. She must have shot a ton of video in order to get footage without them, because they are everywhere.
@@CodyRae11 Hey, she show whatever she wants and you can seek out whatever you want. But what's going on in Burlington is bad. Some other Vermont cities are having the same problems, but maybe on a smaller scale. I thought I was helping by letting you know about some things you're likely to experience that a lot of people don't want you to know about if you do see Vermont.
You go girl. I’m 75 years old and sure wish we were able to do this sort of stuff when I was young. Being a proper young woman and my days wasn’t possible.
Welcome to Vermont. I live about 45 minutes from where you were🌞 Hope your travels are safe and adventurous. PS I have a jacket unit and I love it. A life saver when needed.🤙
DARN TOUGH socks are the only socks in my drawer! I work construction and they last forever, then they replace them for free! You can actually order your own foot size, length, cushion placement and level, etc...one of the few brands I will rave about online.
I own several pairs of these the women's pairs I are really tight on my ankles so I have to wear the men's, the no show versions slide off my feet but other than that they are great socks.
Vermonter here and that’s all I wear for socks I worked at ski areas for years so I liked having warm socks or something that would last in general and the fact that they have lifetime warranty is awesome I even got short socks for summer time that are not long so I don’t always need my boots on I can just have some sneakers on
That’s so cool you came to my town!(Stowe) if I had seen this video earlier I would told you to come to piecasso I would of gave you some free pizza. Sorry you got the knock of all places Stowe lol. Cotton brook is one of my favorite places to walk my dog. Safe travels Sarah
Sarah - your videos continue to improve with each travel/adventure experience. You’re doing great! Now, whether you realize it or not, you’re so fortunate to be at a stage in life that when you open that door you’ve never walked through before in life, you’re going to find so much wonder and excitement. Run with it. 💪✌
Myself and probably others think about how much fun it would be to be travelling and seeing the outdoors. I like that you talk about some of the practical aspects and economics of travelling and where to stay overnight.
Another awesome video! I love Hokas! I only used to wear Nike, but my friend got me hooked five years ago and now that’s all I wear! Also, if you’re in a jam for a place to park, find a local hospital. It’s safe, there is security there oftentimes, but they won’t bother you if you’re not outside cooking and leaving trash all over like some people do. I overnight camp in hospital parking lots often!
It isn't. I don't know where you heard that. Bernie and his Progressive disciples have turned the state into a smaller version of California. Rutland and Burlington have high crime rates. I'm sure other Vermont cities do as well. Not to mention an explosion in homelessness statewide.
Vermont is pussy shit. The people in Vermont are the anti christ. They are the stupid goddamn idiots, and they act like they’re black. Vermont is a disgusting disgrace
I would love it if she would go to Upstate New York in the fall! Then it would be like the Taylor Swift song All Too Well: "We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate / Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place / And I can picture it after all these days" :D
Perhaps someday you can come back. There are so many hidden and not-so-hidden gems in Vermont. And if you can deal with the Winters, it's a great place to live. Although, it seems over the last few years that our winters have become milder and shorter. As for the cider doughnuts, I agree. Unless you can grab one directly off the conveyor, they are dry, but, a quick nuke or a dunk in coffee, helps.
Next time go to real towns not tourist towns. When you were disturbed from sleeping in a “park” , you were actually just 20 minutes away from 3 free campsites along a beautiful stream.
Love the coffee ☕️ maker. Girl ,all i need is my coffee in the morning 🌄, and im happy.😊😊😊😊 ps, coffee tastes 💯 better in ceramic cup, as opposed to cardboard and plastic 😋
So nice to see you living the dream! When I was your age I did something very similar and it was the best time of my life! Stay safe out there and if you're ever in Las Vegas let me know I'll give you the Grand Tour
Stowe VT is the best vacation my wife and I have been on. Stowe has the best headshop if you're into that sort of thing. Stash 'n Stowe, a lot of locally blown glass.
Congrats on visiting all the New England States. Some beautiful views and areas, love the older historic buildings too. Sorry you got the knock but I guess that means you've officially "arrived" as a car lifer. Oh, and I don't think you have to worry to much about Polar Bears where you are, but I lived in Northern Manitoba for 16 years and Churchill is called Polar Bear Capitol of the World and you want to be very careful. Usually they don't come into town but it does happen and people get badly hurt or killed. Residents tend to leave their car/truck doors unlocked so in an emergency people can dive into it for safety. Safe travels Sarah, look forward to the next one.
If you play dead for a grizzly, it's going to bite down on your skull like it's a jawbreaker. They say to never run from a predator, but that's the only chance you'll have to live if a grizzly goes to you. I recommend camping around deep water. Maybe on a ledge over water. You will never out-run a grizzly, nor out-climb it. If you climb a tree on a grizz, it will shake you out of the tree. A black bear will come right up the tree to you. Run down a steep hill, if you can. The bear's front legs are shorter than it's rear legs. That slows them down on a decline. Never run uphill. Playing dead is simply offering your body as food. Dont do that. lol You are too cute for that, and you seem like a very nice young lady. You remind me a lot of my daughter, so I like you already. Have fun, and thank you for your cool videos. :)
Lake Emerald state park. DANBY area has some of the most chewed up boot bottoms from the newspaper articles about being up a tree and trying to head kick the black bear that chased em up there! Hunting season. Lots of wildlife up there at the end of the camping road for Lake Emerald. You’re literally on the upper side of the mountain!
@retiredbadboy55 ... You're probably trying to be funny and flippant, but in case you are not, this is TERRIBLE advice in dealing with bears. Sarah is correct in what she stated about bears. If one is approached by or involved in an attack by a black bear, the researched advice is to retreat slowly unless close contact is made... then you should make noise, throw rocks, make yourself to appear larger... and fight back in an attack. Black bears VERY seldom attack humans, they almost always retreat or at most, bluff charge. But when they do attack, it IS a predatory attack and you should fight. With grizzly bear, or brown bears... an attack is usually because you are perceived as a threat. If you run, you just kicked them into prey drive to chase you. If you fight, they will keep seeing you as a threat and will keep mauling you until you are NO LONGER A THREAT. This is why the advice is to play dead if contact is made by a grizzly. If they see you as no threat, the attack will finish and they will cease to continue (until you are actually DEAD). if someone wants to read the research, real life instances of attacks and how to respond... a good resource is the book, "Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance" authored by Stephen Herrero. The research and lessons learned from REAL LIFE scenarios back up what Sarah summarized. Also talks about the utility of having and knowing how to use bear spray to ward off or lessen an attack situation vs. using a firearm as protection.
HI Sarah, just stumbled upon your channal. The way you film your adventures definatly keeps the attention of like minded adventurous. Enjoy your youthful adventures while you can and be safe! I will go back and check out your previous videos. I'm sure a lot of viewers can't travel like you so you are bringing the travel to them. I am now a subscriber, thank you!
Gatekeeping hikes by calling them a walk lmao. I'm a full time work from home programmer and all of my free time is youtube and sleeping. It takes me less than 2 months to put 200 miles on my boots. How''s it taking you 3-9 months or whatever? Also those shoes still look like they have over a thousand miles left. You don't need to replace them unless you're just trying to look cute.
Sarah, Unilever has owned Ben & Jerry's for a bunch of years. The two old hippies became what they protested about, "the man". All's well for them as they can't spend all the money they made over the years. The look on your face when eating the apple cider doughnut said more than words. Almost spit it out bad. You need to find a local bakery that sells apple filled doughnuts with cinnamon sugar on top. Not good for the waistline, but tastes oh so good. Stowe is really only known for one thing, snow skiing. Fall foliage is nice provided there hasn't been dry or bad weather, otherwise the ground is littered with leaves. Oh, one other thing, if the cost of out-of-state fishing licenses weren't so ridiculous, wild fall trout season is nice, if you fish. Trail riding is hit or miss, (a lot of trails are heavily covered with tree roots) but you need a second rider in-case of a crash.
Great video. I was born in Morrisville the next town north of Stowe. I actually lived in Stowe when I was younger. I learned to ski on the Toll House one of the old ski areas of the time.
Great video Sarah, I was in New Hampshire Memorial Day weekend 3 years ago and went to the top of White Mountain. The weather was horrible, it was raining and snowing with sustained winds of 35mph. I had to hold onto the marker to keep from getting blown off the rocky, slippery top. 2 years later I went to Vermont, much more beautiful and more to see. I also based myself in Burlington, a beautiful city and the University of of Vermont had a gorgeous campus. Sarah, you doing things right by traveling the states while you are young. Can’t wait until your next adventure video!

After watching Peter Santenello RUclips video on Burlington, I think she probably needed to keep her head on more of a swivel while she was there.
Nice to see that you visited my current state of VT. (a former NJ'ite) Glad you had a pleasant visit!
The short morning hike was a great way to break in your new hiking shoes and the tree art alone, was worth your while, even if the higher view of Stowe was underwhelming. Love your thoughts here as being a collector of memories and experiences!
I read that the trail markers were made by 4th graders at Stowe Elementary. Such a nice surprise!
Best thing she did was get a basic coffee maker - minimalism?
Well clearly it was bondage to you but it's not bondage to most people
I live an extremely comfortable life and I’m far from being miserable.
@@daviddubois5913 I'm referring to those that put all their happiness, self worth and identity into buying things, accumulating and always buying the next "thing." People are lying to themselves that they're happy living that way and constantly chasing "stuff" to try and feel good.
Traveling has a way of awakening the soul, making the world feel both vast and connected at the same time. While not everyone gets to live this dream
I am a new fan of your Sarah 🥰
I am so glad you got to see New England, I am a New Englander and live in New Hampshire, and there's no place where I'd rather live anywhere else it is so beautiful here, the change of seasons and each state has its own little differences to make it unique..
Or a pervert
Thanks!
Thank you!!
The most adorable ☺️ thing about the video is HER. ❤
@@jimmaier3613 100% correct. Her authenticity and delivery and love of our country
Congrats on your new channel!
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Vermont. I’ve been there for camping many years ago.
Thanks for sharing Sarah.
It's a really popular place so I was surprised. Maybe it was just an off day for them
@@sarahhberkowitz noo people from out of state have just hyped it up so much and ive had better from the grocery store tbh.
There is a coffee machine on her front leather seat.
Thank you so much!
That is a right of passage being a car camper, ha ha!! Glad it worked out for you. Love that part of traveling and changing your mind on the fly. Yeah things don't always go as planned but then you find another way, I'd be passing on the cold shower though. Nice tour of the state and town, added to my list.
Awesome video. Always nice to see places I've never been to.
Fascinating and great watch as always 👊🏿
Sarah another beautiful video thanks for taking me along again came from Missouri God bless you and stay safe
Loved your last narration about the important things in life. That is very true.
Thank you!
Hooray you came to my state!!! I’m so glad. Happy travels Sarah!
Love the trail markers...adds so much to taking the trail.
It looks like they let school kids make little painting for the trail! How exciting for the kids and what a neat idea.
Congratulations on hitting 40K.
Thank you!
BEST VIDEO YET!!
1 - Cuz I REALLY wanna see Vermont
And
2 - Ben & Jerry's! Great story I never knew!

She didn't show you the homeless, beggars and junkies in Burlington. She must have shot a ton of video in order to get footage without them, because they are everywhere.
@@AngryVermonter I mean , I don't know about you , but i'm not here for that anyway
They are my favorite
YES. A Vermont staple!

Myself and probably others think about how much fun it would be to be travelling and seeing the outdoors. I like that you
talk about some of the practical aspects and economics of travelling and where to stay overnight.
Gifford Woods State Park at the junction of Route 4+100? It’s near the access road to the Killington Ski Area.
Vermont is considered to be the safest state! It's my dream state
to live,if only I could afford it😞I
❤ all of New England though!
It isn't. I don't know where you heard that. Bernie and his Progressive disciples have turned the state into a smaller version of California. Rutland and Burlington have high crime rates. I'm sure other Vermont cities do as well. Not to mention an explosion in homelessness statewide.
Not any more. Between the decline and the property taxes…things are grim for VT.
Except for Burlington..
So nice to see lilly white vt in all it's glory. What America is all about
I live in Vermont! Born and raised my entire life! So glad you get to enjoy our beautiful state! Fall time is gorgeous here! 😊
Vermont is pussy shit. The people in Vermont are the anti christ. They are the stupid goddamn idiots, and they act like they’re black. Vermont is a disgusting disgrace
Me too. Just started my 65th year here.
I also like when you give the history of the places you go.. very educational and adds a touch of class to your videos 😊
Pop on over to the Adirondacks. Keene, Keene valley, lake placid, and Saranac.👍💯✌️
I would love it if she would go to Upstate New York in the fall! Then it would be like the Taylor Swift song All Too Well: "We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate / Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place /

Your parents must have a lot of money 😂
So nice to see you living the dream! When I was your age I did something very similar and it was the best time of my life! Stay safe out there and if you're ever in Las Vegas let me know I'll give you the Grand Tour
Stowe VT is the best vacation my wife and I have been on. Stowe has the best headshop if you're into that sort of thing. Stash 'n Stowe, a lot of locally blown glass.
Come to Colorado...great shops and pot is legal

Nikki and you are my favorite van lifers! New England was my stomping grounds, I grew up in Lewiston Maine
Ben and Jerry, like all leftwingers, are phonies and emotional manipulators.
Great video. I was born in Morrisville the next town north of Stowe. I actually lived in Stowe when I was younger. I learned to ski on the Toll House one of the old ski areas of the time.
Vermonters here. Not much to do, but not much to worry about. Mostly calm....😊
Alot to do
Great video Sarah, I was in New Hampshire Memorial Day weekend 3 years ago and went to the top of White Mountain.
