    Honda should pay you or at least the body work guy Erik for figuring this out because that is something they CLEARLY should have been able to find. I actually thought it might be the plastic gate area in the center cause there is a bump there but guess not. Mine leaked at first but haven't seen it in a while...will keep an eye out. Fantastic video and well put together to highlight the issue/solution. Have a feeling that issue was weighing heavily on your enjoyment of the car, drive on!

    Glad you got this resolved, but it sucks that you pretty much had to diagnos this issue on your own. Feels like your local dealer (maybe all Honda dealers) aren't allowed to get creative and resolve repeatable issues unless they go through the red tape that is corporate Honda.

    I have a 2024 and have the same issue. I have had it to the dealership twice and it’s still leaking. I just ran across your video which I will share with them. I did tell them I had found several people that had had issues with the leaking and of course they said they never heard of this. I’m supposed to take it back next week. I’m gonna give them one more shot and give them your video on how to fix their problem. Thanks for sharing.

    Naus, hey man, when you find a problem, you just don't let go. With the help that you just provided will allow hundreds of hatchback owners to fix their hatchback water leak. BTW i finally found a six speed boost blue hatchback at the tucson Honda dealer but they didn't want to give me much of anything for my 21 accord 20 turbo 10 speed so i'm still looking. Your car is low production and scarce. I still want one though.

Saw this video today and went back to the dealer to talk about it. In this video you said your dealer finally got Honda HQ to act. Can you tell me the name of that Honda dealership. Just purchased a new '24 Sport HB, looked at the rivet you mentioned in the video and it has a gap just like yours. Luckily it hasn't been rained on yet.
    I filled the space of the bracket that goes over the rivet with duct seal, which should do the trick.

    I’m going to check my rivets tomorrow although I have had no leaks on my 2024. I’m kind of bewildered that a body shop out of Canada and your efforts have revealed the source of the leak before Honda. I had some body panels misaligned off the truck on mine. Honda did take care of me on that end and fixed the issues at no cost.

    That's great news! I hope it holds up. The key to resolving any issue like this is first finding the source/cause, which has obviously been a tedious and exhausting process for you. Honda should compensate you in some way for all the frustration you have experienced and time you have dedicated to doing what they should have done from day one when a significant number of reports from owners started coming in about this issue. No doubt that Honda has dropped the ball on QC lately. Hope they get their sh*t together and take some pride in their products again.

    Glad you got the issue resolved. I was lucky enough I did not experience the leak issue I learned about after ordering and waiting 6months for my '23 Platinum White Civic Sport 6MT hatch during the 6 months I had mine. I was also a bit concerned about the durability of the hatch when I learned it was made of resin. After having a CR-V for 7 years, I forgot how LOW Civics are to the ground (I know my Premium White Pearl '11 CR-Z EX 6MT was low, and even having severe sciatica, I had no problems getting in and out of my Tango Red Pearl '08 Civic EX 5MT sedan and was wondering if the front doors were shorter in length or if the B pillar has moved forward that drastically). I'm a big guy, but getting in and out of my new Civic was problematic. I really had to do a rotating swing with my right leg while crouching my left leg to be able to get down into the car-and had to make sure my right pocket(s) were empty or my leg wouldn't clear under the steering wheel. Never got a technique to master getting out, but at least I never had to fling myself out onto the yard or curb. The problem I had with my new Civic was that the pedals felt off center and out of place to me-like they were an inch or so right of where they should have been. I traded my Civic for a Canyon River Blue Accord EX and it's a good car, but it's nowhere near as great as the Civic. I'm considering ordering another Civic Sport 6MT hatch in the next year as opposed to a CB1000R, but this time I'll go with silver. After getting the windows tinted and getting red leather front seat covers, my Civic looked SHARP but it caught the attention of everyone who thought they should have been in the Fast and Furious but weren't. I really enjoy your channel and you do an excellent job with it. AND YOUR DUCK TAIL IS ON POINT!

      Thank you for the comment my friend! I agree my old 8thgen civics had much more room to get in and out of, the doors were longer. Honda made the hood super long on this generation and shrunk down the doors quite a bit

      I just had mine tinted today and had a leaky hatch. I'm guessing it's just from what they use getting squeegied down and off to the sides. I have a 2024 sport hatch 6MT and have not had any leaks beforehand. Looked at my rivets, and they are seated pretty flush. If anything, I would think you could just inject some silicone into that opening to seal the rivet if you have any leaks that don't pertain to a tint job.

    Bought a brand new ‘24 a week ago. Looked at the rivets and they looked good. It was just delivered to dealer that day so I hoped maybe Honda addressed it. Nope. Took it to get tint yesterday. They washed it. Opened the hatch a few hours later and water started dripping on my head from same spot everyone else is experiencing. Quite a bit of water inside the hatch.

    • @arpeltier
      @arpeltier 22 дня назад +1

      Actually, the tint guys didn't wash it. Car wasn't washed yesterday. It's leaking simply from the heavy dew yesterday and today. Same thing this morning. Wow. Honda really needs to address this. Come on.

    • @arpeltier
      @arpeltier 7 дней назад

      Needed to wash it last weekend. I didn’t want the dealer messing with it as they didn’t have a solution. I just took a #40 drill bit and drilled tiny holes in the 4 tiny dimples in the back of the hatch. You have to be looking for them to notice. Super clean. Super tiny. Washed it. Water drained onto bumper and didn’t pool inside the hatch. I figured if I did it, it would be super clean and barely noticeable, instead of letting someone else make a mess of it. Took all of 30 secs.

    NAUS I've got the same car as you including the color and drivetrain. The only way my car has been exposed to water is when washing the car and heavy rain while traveling and I've experienced no leakage. I have checked the area where the spare tire is stored and found no standing water or moisture. I have directly after washing noticed water run down and collect along the side channels of the hatch and drip from the top of the hatch after opening, but after driving it for a time, the water evaporates. I will check that bracket area on both sides of the hatch just to check the condition of the rivets. Thanks for the update. I always look forward to and enjoy your videos. Btw, my tranny was from India so I guess Honda outsources quite a bit.

While sitting in your seat and the seatbelt on, try using your hand hold onto the plastic part that going to the seatbelt buckle and wiggling it around without moving your body. Now you should be able to identify which part made the squeak noise. For me, it is the seatbelt buckle and I spray silicon lubricate into or you can ask the dealer to replace the seatbelt buckle for you.

    My personal experience is that neither Honda or Toyota builds them as solid/reliable as they used to, & both cut more little corners than ever in craftsmanship/quality these days - though a lot of the problems are also all the added over-engineered tech-bloat on newer vehicles in-general bringing down longer-term reliability & problem-free ownership experiences. Good luck out there.

      Quality from Japan is still awesome. All the type Rs are made exclusively in Japan and none have this issue. All these sport models hatchbacks are made in the US

      The ones on the type R are made in Japan and as far as I know there are zero reports from leaks on the type Rs

    Is this a warranty fix?

      This was covered under warranty but there is no TSB or recall for it yet. Honda didn’t even know about it until I made this video

    Yes mine has the same issue. Plus mine also has a issue where tge passenger side rear trim pops out weekly at the window bottom. I have to keep popping it back in. I did actually find a letter on line that honda sent to one dealership expressing concern about the leaks. Send me a email or number and i will send it to you, if you want it. Thanks

      If I were to get a type R, it would have to be red like my s2000, no other color would be acceptable !

    My ‘23 Accord has so many design issues, the dealer is no help. Honda has completely given up in quality.

    I recently had my Honda Civic hatchback’s trunk window tinted and encountered the same issue with water leaking from the same spot as you described, but mine took about 3 days for the dripping to stop every time I opened the trunk.
