Good question! Most heritage breeds can fly, though not as well as a wild turkey. Bourbon Reds will fly short distances and up to roost, but as they get larger their ability to fly gets to be less and less.
Do two red bourbon breed true ? As in make another red bourbon? Thinking of getting some to sustain a yard of turkey for food for my family. Gonna get some broad breasted whites as well for fast meat.

They do breed true. They are one of our favorite breeds!
I was thinking about raising those turkeys. Does a hen need a tom to make babies? Someone told me that you don't need a tom
You definitely need a Tom unless you want to try artificial insemination which can get difficult and expensive.
