    Today we are sharing what we have learned about raising turkeys. We have been raising turkeys since 2021. We currently have a small flock for breeding and also have hatched turkeys. Last year we raised turkeys for meat production.
    I love raising turkeys as they are very sweet as poults. They imprint on you. They are also low maintenance in my opinion.

    If you deworm your chicken flock every 6-9 weeks , you can raise turkeys with them. I have bourbon reds with my flock and they do well. They free range on my 3 acres daily.

    • @YogiHollowFarm
      @YogiHollowFarm  Год назад +1

      Yes! Some people get Turkey specific feed but we cannot here. But they are game birds. So game bird feed works well vs chick starter. Only difference is if you raise for meat vs breeders. We use all flock for the breeders

      Hello. Oh no sorry you’re dealing with that. Unfortunately I have not dealt with that issue. It is related to a deficiency in Manganese or some of the following vitamins: choline, nicotic acid, pyridoxine, biotin or folic acid. We often refer to the Merck Veterinary Manual (we are not veterinarians). Often there is helpful information in there to address issues. Im sorry I could not be of more help. I hope this helps you. Best to you

    Can you go in with the adult turkies? Thank you for sharing

    • @YogiHollowFarm
      @YogiHollowFarm  Год назад +1

      Yes I always go in with my animals so they get used to it. Bourbon Red males are fairly calm overall. I have heard stories of a male here and there being a bit aggressive. I never had the issue. We did have two males in this pen and one constantly attacked the other male. However when I went in the pen (with 2 males or now) they run from me and I leave them be

      Thank you! Also, can you leave the hen to raise her babies or do you have to separate from the others?

    • @YogiHollowFarm
      @YogiHollowFarm  Год назад +1

      @MilknHoneyHeritageFarmz My broody hens have not been successful hatching babies. When we have hatched we have done it with an incubator. So we don’t have that issue. I originally planned to play by ear because I was concerned the male might harm the babies. But sadly we have not had the opportunity to observe this yet
