We love turkey and cook at least 1 a month. So many good recipes for the leftovers and it freezes great. When you are down to cooking the bones to remove meat easily for soups and pot pies you can also make great tasting stock and broth for future meals. There's a whole lot more than just a Thanksgiving meal when you cook a turkey!
Way to go Mr Brown helping Papa! Turkey wrangling like a pro! You've come a long way from the Ergo! All I've heard about turkeys is they're fragile and flighty. I feel like with all the predators and no goose, dog or donkey, I'd need to build an aviary on wheels kinda like and enclosed sheep shaw. That could be the next hot thing to build.
😂he’s calling the turkeys “people” and “folks” having mom and dad brain is priceless 😅😅 I just got a small batch of 6 “folks” errr turkeys hopefully they’ll make it past the brooder stage mine tend to find a way to die 🦃
I have often thought about the neighbors. Plus why are drivers and anyone on site trusted going forward but not backwards? As if hearing the engine isn't enough. If I had to be around those machines I'd go nuts
I have the first time turkey neck chicken, what the difference between real turkey s and turkey neck chicken. I knotised they are bigger than my chickens but very nice and kind and lovable , so what the difference? Is it just the size even the eggs are bigger. Nice to have and yes they fly high
do you have a smoke detector in you chicken brooder if not it would be a good idea it may save you a disaster with an early warning before a fire can take over
Hey @Justinrhodes I’m curious, we are in Virginia and the ticks are awful making my time outside not enjoyable. I see you kneeling and walking in that tall grass, do you have to worry about them ever?

I use 150 gallon rubbermaid water tank as a brooder. Learned real quick the little turkeys can jump! Chicken wire bent over the top is working to keep them in. I need a turkey shaw. Just big enough to place in 1 of the gardens during winter.
Thank you Justin! That's awesome and it is also encouraging to see that even doing it for a longer time, things happen and you need to go back to square one! It's okay, not the end of the world!❤🤗❤
Gideon has really benefited a bunch by hanging out with Dad. He has learned a lot just by watching. He’s becoming a real big help keeping up with the homestead…. Bravo Justin for being a great role model.😊
at 24-25 min when trimming the grass you should have eye protection , i know this because i had safety glasses on and a rock hit my glasses with a large bang , so pleased i wore glasses.
I tried growing my first batch of meat chickens in my house in an extra bedroom. That was based on your advice. That was bad advice it stunk something terrible.
I'm relatively new to raising meet turkeys however I give my chickens and turkeys zucchini from the garden As a treat and I have been told that it is an actual dewormer I guess not a 100% sure but I give my birds zucchini every now and then
Can you explain more on what is Mr. google pants you make reference to it can you go in depth please or anybody explain it to me I feel stupid I love what he’s teaching me. I just wish I had my own place.
Congrats Rhodes Biz---you have achieved and arrived at your intended goal of generating lots of money and genre recognition, aka the homestead rich people. Smart business man, Justin Rhodes. You envisioned your success even before you posted your first RUclips to Americana.
You treat your animals like peeps, and they grow up happy and healthy so no worries about your wording. I love the motto - they should only have ONE bad day.
Mr Rhodes love watching your channel enjoy watching the old timers way coming back to america farming I am looking for a homestead to start do you have any recommendations
Oh my goodness!!! Yes!!! Blessed be!!! Thank you for this video. Turkey is a huge staple in our home. We buy and eat more turkey than all other meats available. I will need to hone in and specialize in turkeys 🦃🍗🦃 💜💛💚👣🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
1.this whole thing about dipping beaks in the water is just stupid 2.you get too much heat in your "deep bedding" and you will burn the damn barn down , you tube, unreal 3 those turkeys can and will fly, ive seen them white meat turkeys go from the ground to the top of a 60 ft fir tree
This show keeps getting worse and worse. What is happening with the house? I thought Thursday’s was supposed to be content about the house? Some of this stuff is just not interesting. A whole hour about water? 30 min on turkeys? Since you moved off of daily content - the content is worse! Maybe you want to talk about things in more depth but I liked that you touched on a little bit of everything. Improve the content please.
hate to break it to u buddy but his content is made to help darmers in depth. its not a aesthetic show for u to enjoy if u dont like it dont watch it but others and more than 1k people do
Exactly the kind of video I was looking for!
I’m dying laughing over you calling them “people!”
“People start getting killed- we’ll move them back in..” lol
I've even stepped on people and killed them lol

Guidean was so quiet and respectful through all of this.
Justin, you've definitely lost your dad bod. You're looking pretty buff. I have a son your age. I wish that he would get into a healthier lifestyle.
do you have a smoke detector in you chicken brooder if not it would be a good idea it may save you a disaster with an early warning before a fire can take over
What about ground turkey? At our house that’s what we eat often. I wonder how much ground turkey you can get from each turkey??
Hey @Justinrhodes I’m curious, we are in Virginia and the ticks are awful making my time outside not enjoyable. I see you kneeling and walking in that tall grass, do you have to worry about them ever?
Great question!
guinea fowl will help with ticks
I love the Justin ramble it is packed with so much information
Have you looked up turkey clothing they are known to be able to take the feathers off and still live
My hen turkey hatched and is raising what i thought were Silkie chicks but they are Bantams. Shes very gentle and protective of them.
Can you put turkeys in with chickens?
#ahorseforlily 🦄
The beeping was pretty annoying. But good content
Your beeping is annoying also
@@andrewstanford7573 my beeping?
I've never heard of turkey eggs, can you eat turkey eggs?
of course, duck eggs, turkey eggs, quail eggs, any fresh bird eggs,
They don't lay as frequently as chickens - maybe 2 per week - but yeah you can eat em. I've heard they're more rich than turkey eggs.
@@jimmybongo777 Thanks, I never heard of people eating turkey eggs and wondered why. Now I know you can.
So if you look at them like people and you eat them ... what does that make you?
I think the son when putting them in the crate dropped an f- bomb

Don't you have termites in North Carolina? With all of those wood shavings, id be worried about termites attacking my house.
I usually trim the wings of my chicks before putting them outside. Little ones are surprisingly good fliers.

I like to can turkey meat. I use it to make turkey salad with it and I use it to make scallop turkey, turkey soups, etc.
Most interesting.
We got our 6 turkey's 2 weeks ago, late ordering, will share with neighbors, my daughter's family.
If you didn’t have your dog would you be concerned about predators in the night?
Gideon needs a shorter weed wacker
“I’ve killed people by stepping on them before” 😂
"Cog hill farm' has some new geese.... use a shock or not. they can't get through that.
Why can’t u put chicken baby’s and turkey baby’s in the same net ??
😂 The Turkey catcher did a great job. My daughter has the same role as your turkey catcher for our chickens.
Mr. Brown is growing up so much. 😊
Where’s the link for all the turkey supply’s?

The beauty of deep bedding. Warmth, and composting, and the waste is covered up regularly with more shavings and the birds scratching.

Enough room for people to perch🤣🤣🤣
Love that you show the real journey, not just the perfect end ❤
Is the floor of the brooder concrete, dirt , or metal?
I had a friend that called all animals people. Nothing wrong with it. Shows your compassion, they have personalities and feelings.
The only people I trust are animals😂😂 ( I've said it for years) But of course I heard it somewheres I'm not taking credit for saying it originally

Yes.
What a blessing!
Over 600 sq ft…? That’s bigger than my house! 😂

I love how you call the animals "people". I do that with my birds and my nephew says "they're birds, not people" but I just ignore him, lol.

I would not want to kill any bird/animal. I don't feel as bad to eat eggs. I would have the birds/animals as pets.
