After I tried really hard to come up with a whole alternate timeline just to make sense of the no-Italy mod Drew showcased a while back, I just decided that all these continent removals are actually alien abduction: they abduct whole landmasses the day before the game starts, so the rest of the world has to cope with it.

This actually imposes an interesting scenario. If the middle east never existed (the land itself), then the europeans can freely acquire indian spices without ottoman hindrance. Because of that, there is no need to explore since there is no blockade that forced them to explore in our timeline. Would that mean the americas would have never been discovered ?

And they have an event to form Brazil when that happens because that basicly is what the Portugese king did in real history when Napoleon invaded Portugal. if the middle east never existed humans would have never left Africa and have been stuck in Africa for around 190,000 years which is like 97% of the entire human history until around 7,000-10,000 when the first boats were invented. not only that but because there was no land bridge it's hard to tell how different the human history and even all modern species today would have looked like, neanderthals would have likely not exist at all because their ancestors left africa around 500,000 years ago and were evolved in asia and europe, there is a good chance that even primates in general wouldn't have existed. the only chance to leave africa that humans would have had is if some kind of storm/tsunami/earthquake which might of led some human species float across the sea to maybe spain, as far as I am aware there was no land bridge between spain and africa in the time humans existed.

Since Golden Century, it seems that New World colonial provinces (as opposed to conquered native provinces) will randomly adopt a new world national tag for their separatist rebels. I've gotten Texans in haiti, Californians in Bermuda, and Americans in Argentina.

Nope. The Portuguese started exploring the Madeira and Azores islands in the 1420s and explored the coast of Africa in the 1430s ,well before the Ottomans took out the Byzantine Empire. The Ottoman control of trade certainly helped with exploration but it wasn't the initial cause.
