I show in this video how to make clips for the Zebra Billy Cans. These clips will work on all of the billy can range from 16 cm to 10 cm. They will hold the lids on the 16 cm and 14 cm cans and hold the bail arms up on all of them.
I used 2 mm rods

Should be able to get those rods at your local welding store. They usually come in 30" lengths. Very nice video. Thanks-
Ralph Watten or maybe a machine shop...ofc if it’s any place like the shop in my town, their dumbfounded when you ask for SS Welding Rods or carbon felt/fiber...but I guess not all of us can have high iq’s 😂 some like to waste more than use 🤣 anyway thx so much for sharing your knowledge 👍😉😁
Wow, thx 4 showing how 2 make the clips 4 the zebra billy pot with correct size of stainless rods. Thx 4 sharing. Keep on camping.
Cheers - used bike spokes for mine, works a treat...
Good video! I'll be making these
Really helpful. Thank you.
Awesome! If only Zebra would start using metal clips. This is the best video I've seen on making your own clips. Thanks. You make it look very simple too.
Thanks :)
Couldn't be clearer and more straight forward. Thanks for taking the time to show us this. Cheers Paul. All the best, James
Just made a pair of clips using coat hanger! Really nice. Thanks Paul!
Paul ! You ROCK ! Bro !
Thanks Paul great Instruction. I bought my stainless steel rod from pound shop as metal skewers!
Your a top man thanks for having a good sense of fun take care Paul
CLEVER GUY! 👍
As much as the Zebra Billy can is perfect for camping, whos bright idea was it to fit it with plastic clips on it....wtf
Cheers for this great help. I made a couple of clips with a wire coat hanger.
Gold!
You are a top guy thank you
I saw a website with the clips but they only sell them with the pots together in the USA
SUBSCRIBED thank you
Your welcome Peter. Thanks for the Sub :)
Mr Bisseker = Mr GENIUS Thank you again for fixing the problems that desperately needed to be resolved as Zebra new pots should have used the steel clips instead of plastic fittings that will melt in time and I have just purchased the rods from Amazon and am going to change over straight away and thank you again Mr Genius for your knowledgeable knowhow Top Man 😉👍
Been meaning to make these myself, I grabbed a load of Fence wire that the council used on Schools years back the stuff with plastic on. Just remove the plastic just as stuff as your steel. Thanks for sharing Paul. Trev
Thanks for the video Paul, bought the SS through your link, made the clips as per your instruction. Well pleased
Really pleased to hear that ;)
as i expected , nice and very clear
Hi Paul, I used a Du Bro E Z Bender. (designed to make landing gear and control rods for RC planes). Makes accurate & easy work of this.
Niice. Anything that doeasn't rust will be good ;)
Thanks Paul! I was looking on You Tube for this exact info and you gave me everything I was looking for. The second thing I want to make is a rack for the top ( when used vertically) and some various racks for the inside. Perfect link for the supplies!
Nice one Paul. Easier than I thought it might be. Thanks for the info.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much. Brilliant video and well described. I’ve worked to the multi coloured measurements shot and after a couple disasters I have been able to produce a couple of really decent clips.
Thanks to you for that.
Thanks Paul!
Fantastic tip and instruction Paul! Thank you!
Cheers Paul! Exactly what I was looking for 👍
Thanks, that just I want to make it .
Excellent
Eeeeh ! Thanks fior that really clear instructions
Love this, thank you for sharing.

Great video. I used old wire coat hangers for mine. that worked fine...
Thanks
yea nice one Paul thanks for the info its been really helpful great video
Thanks a lot gotta go get some rods now! :)
Again, thx so much Paul!! 👍❤️🤗
looked everywhere for these clips, thank you, and i subscribed.
Thank you Kevin :)
May try and make a homemade version of a can cooker using those clips... thanks for the idea... ~Chuck~
I just got one of those but didn't realise it had plastic clips (useless) so I shall be following your tutorial!
THANK YOU so much!!! Subscribed!
Thanks ;)
Thank you for the tips Paul , searched your channel from sandy 👍
Thanks Martin, Sandy has been really kind to mention me :)
Thanks for the tutorial I just ordered a 10cm and was looking for a DIY on making these.
Great video, thank you! I made my clips and they are working. I also found the exact same steel wire in a disposable BBQ! It’s meant to be a stand for the aluminum tray. Enough to make at least four clips.
Good find ;)
What about skewers? 👍👍
Brilliant video, thank you.
Great tip. Second I've seen and its great. Not seen the sausage holder :)
1/16” stainless TIG weld rod works good enough for anyone else that has it handy
Nice, thanks this is just what I needed.
thanks Paul you are hero
You are welcome
Good work paul thanks for your video.
Say no to drugs pmsl
Handy vid, about to order one but didn't much like the look of the plastic clips. Bike spokes are generally 1.8 - 2mm thick stainless steel. I've got some old ones in a jar that've just found a new use...
nice job!
Gr. Kitty.
Thank you. for lesson l do need
Thanks for the Sub ;)
Cheers paul great video mate, just bought a billy can few weeks back mate and made those clips great idea ,i also made a video and gave you a mention in it thanks pal atb crash😁
Thanks mate ;)
Yeah fair play for that... 👍🏼
Thanks Scott
@@PaulBissekerBushcraft I've just followed your instructions and after 4 attempts I got it right.. So much easier the way you explain it and with the clear measurements on the screen...
I only had an old coat hanger to hand. Seems to work well. But I'll keep me eyes out for some stainless rods when I'm out and about..
Thanks again and keep up the good work mate 👌🏽.
@@scottl5028 Nice one Scott. I use the stainless for long lasting (no rust)
This may or may not be of any use - but I just finished a couple of clips made from old spokes from a bicycle wheel. They may be just shy of 2mm and I suspect that the metal is a little softer than what is being used here. But they seem to fit and hold the pot handle and the lid in place. Still - clearly this solution needs road testing. Anyway - it was faster and cheaper just scrounging those parts to get going (just received my 14cm one today) ...
Thanks for watching and commenting ;)
Yeah - thanks for the content. It was a good resource for getting the shape right. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how those spokes hold up ... not even really sure what they're made of ...
Ty
Or You could order them From Firebox Stove . I bought My zebra pot with them already installed. Works like a charm...
Yes in the states you can get them from Steve ;)
Muppet moment, got it now.
Another great video, Paul. Your advice and tips sure help a lot of people. Myself included! Have you tried using the leftover wire to make pot stands and other handy bits of kit? Keep up the good work...
Thanks ;)
Hi Paul been looking at your video making the clips for the billie pots what ml rods are they plz many thanks
Great tip Paul cheers .why didn't you just use coat hangers ?.congrats on all the new subs mate you will fly past 1.000 before new year I bet you get to 1.300 for new year lets see eh very well done sir I salute you 😊
Thanks Des. All my coat hangers are plastic;)
My vision being what it is, it would be difficult for me to make something that small. Would it be possible for you to make a set for a 16 CM Zebra Billy pot and send them to me? I like my new pot, just the plastic clips are useless.
Hi paul what was the thickness of the rods please
2mm rods Amazon: amzn.to/2V87JQK
You should make and sell the clips by request
Nice video Paul. Can you give the measurements for the clips as I have lost my plastic ones? Many thanks
All measurements are in the video ;)
7:20
Thanks - missed them :)
@@PaulBissekerBushcraft
how many cm that pot?
Would a bicycle spoke work ?
More then likely. You can get Stainless steel spokes. I'd go to a bike shop and see if they have 2mm spokes. But that is a very good idea.
I'd like to say a big thank you to you for this video on making the clips! I've got the 12cm and 16cm cans. Are these metal rods available in Amazon uk?
Thanks for watching. I found these www.amazon.co.uk/Right-Stainless-ER316L-Filler-Welding/dp/B01LZ93J6X/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1544196812&sr=8-8&keywords=Stainless+Steel+ER316L
Nice video, Paul. I'm not clear on WHY you would need to make new clips. I just got my Billy pot and have used it once, so far. Do the clips wear out or break regularly? Thanks!
I assume you have metal clips. The standard clips for the Zebra pots were plastic.

Ah, yes, mine are metal clips. Thanks.
I bought the 16 cm with metal clips ;)
What diameter is the rod,
2mm
Do you sell these clips mate?
No i'm afraid i don't. They are easy to make ;)
You could've made a fortune selling clips for £5 a pair 😂
Paul please go and smoke some dope. You’re a good guy I think your great. That is sad and boring Up your game son Take good care
HAHAHAHA
Thanks
