Ana, I literally talked to my husband a few months ago about how we should add an electric fireplace with a tv mount to our master bedroom! So this has been on our project list! But leave it to you and Jacob to make this project easier for everyone with frees plans! Thank you, thank you! God bless you.

I did it! Turned out beautiful. If I knew how to post a picture I would. Thank you Ana for the step by step simple plans. I'm always inspired by your work.
What many take 20+ minutes to explain, you did in less than 5!! And I understood everything you did. Thank you Anna! I don't have a wall for this now but when I get you'll know. 🤗
I plan to have a built in fire place with my house plans. You make things look so easy. And, they always turn out so nice. Thanks for this project details.
We are just about to do our fireplace wall and I finally found one I like! Thank you so much - we can't wait to get started and will show you the finished product when done!
Building this now. Fireplace will be here in a couple days. So excited to get this finished in my basement before winter! Thank you so much for these awesome plans and projects. My Honey-Do list will never be complete!
It was a lot easier to install than I imagined. I think that what’s confusing is the unit cones with long bars for a imbedded wall installation. I chose the simple wall mount.
is it okay to directly plug the fireplace into the existing outlet behind the wall? or have to move the existing outlet up and onto outside finish shiplap to make it accessible? Buddy of mine said if I directly plug the fireplace into the outlet and if it's behind the media wall and not accessible, it's against electrical code or something.

Wow! I've been wanting to make one for my master bedroom. Any ideas for building a top shelf at half the height instead of taking it to the ceiling? Just thinking it might be easier to do it myself that way. Thanks!!
We’re you able to easily find the 2x4 studs behind the shiplap? That’s what I’m worried about. I don’t want to miss the stud when securing the tv and once you cover with shiplap, you can’t see
That's a really cool simple idea! Everything looks really nice! I would have added a little better Looking mantle to really bringing out the look. Respectfully.... You did a great job!🙂👍
I love all your projects and your directions and plans are so simple and easy to understand. Thank you, Ana. I so wanna build this, but my walls are high and at an angle, how do I tackle that? I do all my projects by myself.
That looks fab! What a cool project. If we wanted to build it without the vertical trim pieces, besides making the shiplap with 45-degree cuts for a finished edge, anything else obvious we should consider?
Only part I'm confused on is what did you attach the TV mount to? It doesn't look like you put it on a stud. Did you just attach it to the shiplap? That would easily fall out for bigger TVs
Hi, we did attach the mount to a stud but if I remember correctly I had to crawl inside and attach it after the fact as it came in the mail late and had a different bolt pattern than was expected. If you have the mount it would be much easier to place the studs to fit. This is shown in the free plans www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/easiest-shiplap-fireplace-tutorial-free-plans-and-video
I've been wanting to do this FOREVER! I bought the fireplace back in April......but I'm so nervous to try!!! How do you modify it to 8 feet long and 9 feet tall?
Ana, do you have plans that would include a hearth that the insert would sit on and the hearth would be the same width as the wall itself. Our insert is a 42" Dimplex.
It cost us about $550, grab the free shopping list and have it quoted out at your local lumber stores to get the best deal! www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/easiest-shiplap-fireplace-tutorial-free-plans-and-video
There are youtube videos on line about how to remove that lava rock. Usually, it's a thin veneer and not toohard to remove, messy but not complicated. With that rock demoed you could do this fireplace/TV mount bump out just as Ana described.
Question....what did the TV mount mount on to? The shiplap or was a 2x4 added? I'm in the process of building and curious how you mounted the TV mount. Thanks love your videos!
Hi Ana thanks for the tutorial. I am interested in building a fireplace wall in my living room although I don't have any available walls I'm thinking can I do it in front of my staircase and if so what changes must be made in order to do that
Really nice job on presenting this. I’m about to start pretty much the exact same project. I’m curious how far off the floor the fireplace is? If I count the shiplap i stigmate 16 inches? Also, to finish the corners I was thinking of using an MDF corner but I like the 3 inch you used. How did you finish the corner, the front overlapping the side?
Yes, it's a 4x6 beam. Free plans with more details are here www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/easiest-shiplap-fireplace-tutorial-free-plans-and-video
Ana Home Depot has an affiliate program where if someone clicks on your link and buys you can get a small m percentage. Given that you do soooo much work I wonder if the affiliate program would earn you some money.
Counting the shiplap height, it looks like you have a 10 foot ceiling. The TV is half way up the wall which is 5 feet ot 60 inches off the floor. The max TV height should be no more than 42 inches off the floor. I know the mantle looked awesome. I realy dont think the mantle and the TV should be both on the same wall.
Lol what? That's such a terrible take. The average mantle height for a 8-10' ceiling is around 54" where it should be. Any TV is going to be above that. Your max TV height is a bs personal reason.
@@hacksawjimthuggin7411 I am just saying you should rethink the TV placement when doing an electric fireplace. So when you sit down to watch TV, you like to stare at the mantle around eye level? Ho-ohhhhhhh

I have one suggestion. Chooese the mantle or the TV but not both. Mantle push the TV a little too high for comfortable viewing. Since we are using an electric fireplace, the mantle serves no purpose. If you want aesthetic then go with the mantle but skip the TV. If you want to watch TV in the room then you should skip the mantle. This is similar to those multi function appliances, when it has too many function certain function became less useful. This set up is super cool. But with the high housing prices, I would hate to see a home owner with limited space turn their only TV viewing room in to an uncomfortable video viewing situation.
First, this is another beautiful project. However, the middle of the TV is supposed to be at eye level while seated. Watching it in a high position like this leads to chronic pain in the neck/spine. Please don't put TVs above mantles or fireplaces.
Cons. R/TvTooHigh which causes severe neck pain. Front row of a cinema like viewing experience. Inability to place speakers properly. I'm coming from a tv viewing and audio experience perspective and these ideas are a strict no in my books. If this is what you want that's fine. Absolutely never under any circumstances do you ever have a tv above a fireplace or in the same wall.
I'm building this comment to thank Ana for always bringing the best for her viewers.

Beautiful wall. Just curious why designers alway want tv's to mounted at standing height?
How could I do this on a wall with no studs? We only have furring strips on the block wall I want to use.
I’ve added this to the list of things to do in our living room. Those chairs are so cute! Where did you get them?
