I'm a fan of the black base as it tends to disappear and allows the table top to be the star. I also appreciate you mentioning how much time it took from start to finish. Your compressing over 100 hours of work into this 20min video shows a skill in editing and story-telling that is as remarkable as your woodworking skills.
it's a really cool piece, it kind of looks like this giant beautiful slab is floating in outer space and you're looking down at it and the blue is earth beneath it! Thanks for your channel!
Great video!!!! Glad to see the dedication to providing the best product possible for the client. The black finish on the X-base is outstanding. Like Dylan says, the base needs to fade into the background. Thanks for showing the build process from start to finish. Especially enjoyed the discussion of how to pour two colors and not have one color dominate the other. Keep up the good work!!!!
Another lucky client - I think the second table looks much better - I don't care for all the sap wood that was on the original table, just my opinion. BFWC rocks. Stay safe.
Good Day 🌅, Black Forest , As always a beautiful looking 👀 table, I agree with black legs 🦵, even bronzed might even look great too, keep up the great work guys, stay safe, from France,
This table is 🔥! The X base in black is the ONLY way to go. If you left the base clear, it would take away from the beauty of the table itself. Can't wait to place an order with y'all!!
1. I like the very dark stains. I have used them myself, and they leave a very distinguished finish. 2. I actually preferred the original slabs. They looked amazing. Too bad they were not dry enough. 3. This table did look quite beautiful. Great work guys.
I'm in favor of the black stained base. Much harder to see blemishes or stains on it. There can certainly be cases where a white, natural base could be the preferable choice (ie. if the table-top is bright as well) but a bright base under a dark table-top like all the walnut tops would not look good and harmonious.
Great result, this piece of timber looks so much better than the original. Very interesting mix of resin but the end result was beautiful. I really like the X base and black is always a good option. However I still prefer the stain to the a little less dense to allow the natural grain to show up better. The aluminium support is good and stained to match makes it a little less obvious. Have you guys ever considered using solid clear acrylic rod instead. I have used it in the past and I find that it is virtually lost to sight. Just a thought. Again a great table and thank you for sharing. Cheers Michael.
Beautiful piece. The discussion of how to handle different colours was interesting - we have done quite a few small testers trying to see what works. For one lamp where a mould encloses a bottle with the bottom cut off to allow a bulb to be inserted later, we put in a very dark first pour that filled about 15% of the mould and the next morning poured in a very translucent colour while the first pour was still a little bit liquid and this made a nice smoky effect. Vs staining wood, people need to just chill and accept the matter of taste. I think both your stained and unstained baes are gorgeous. Which to choose is partly also around the wood and resin of the table and other things in the room….just chill, calm down is what we would say to those with very strong views either way.
Another great build. I really like the colors that were picked and used on this table. The only thing I didn't ike is the blue square at the end of the table. It looks out of place. The other blue areas have soft round circular patterns. For instants the one area towards the middle of the table looks like an eye. Have you ever put a different color or stain on the legs? I think a deep red mahogany would look awesome especially if the table itself were more of a mahogany color. Those deep red tones hide until the right light is on them. It would be nice if you could do a biography on the staff so we all can get a chance to get to know them.
As Metallica said so eloquently in And Justice For All - Blackened …. Also, wow, what an amazing piece. Plus, good to see Charlie 🐶 make an appearance….
There is a skill in what you are doing. Your second choice is better and it looks amazing. Your team is beyond brilliant and don't doubt yourselves, I don't think to many carpenters can say they achieve your quality. Great team great product love it
the black stain you applied, it's not my thing but it still looks good. I have a question about the base too. It looks like the grain might still be noticeable to the touch? Is this so? If so, what level did you sand too? I assume the more sanding/higher level you go to, it would flatten everything out so you would not be able to feel the grain? Or am I wrong? Great video, keep it up
Nice work polishing the aluminum rods for the X-base. But, it appears to me that the polished aluminum rods ended up painted black. If so, why polish them?
When I look at how young and talented your team is it renews my faith in humanity........no blue hair, no eye makeup, no nose rings...........a breath of fresh air in today's environment.
I believe one reason why these giant tables are so expensive is because you have to cover the cost of redoing the whole thing and still making a profit when the first one warps or bubbles through. But if you do have to replace it just put it back in storage and let it continue to dry out
Absolutely not. We have been building these tables for years now, if we hadn't figured out how to build a table without it warping or bubbling by this point we would have quit making them long ago. Also kind of an insulting comment to insinuate we would scam our customers out of money.
I have never been a fan of the whole epoxy thing, plastic and wood looks terrible, can't wait until the fad is over. I don't like the design of that piece, it's too heavy looking and your aluminum rods, look out of place, and look like whoops I need a support, they don't relate to the piece at all. But my opinion doesn't matter you have someone paying for it.
I'm a fan of the black base as it tends to disappear and allows the table top to be the star.

That's so, so appreciated! Thank you so much! 😁
I really like the insight into what goes on in pouring a table. The discussions of what goes into planning the pour are a nice addition to your video.
Thank you! I've been trying to film the guys talking more lately!
Less epoxy is ALWAYS BETTER but y’all’s tables are always spectacular. Great job team.
Thanks so much! 😅
I agree the star is the table top and the stand is neutral for support black is elegant!
I like the black and finish!!!!

I love the look of natural, but that black is gorgeous too. 👍👍

Really like how that blends into the black ,and that slab is beautiful. Well done guys !
Thank you so much!
Forgot to mention - Hello Charlie - glad to see you making sure your crew is staying busy.
Yes! He's such a good boss haha! He says hello!

As always, beautiful table! I would always prefer the black base. I love how the grain looks in the right light.
Thanks so much! And yes, the black base is sleek in our opinion!
That table will surely be the talk amongst your customers friends and family.
Looks amazing.
Thank you so much!
The black ash finish looks fantastic! Yes I like the black

Yeah the original ones were beautiful but luckily she was very happy with this table as well!
Great job, nice looking table, I do prefer the black base
Thanks so much!
Spectacular Table Black base is best. Blue/black mixed pour looks so natural, adds movement.
Agreed! Thanks Nancy!
The black base is awesome.
Thank you!

Thanks Michael! A clear rod would be interesting! We might have to try that in the future!
The new layout was definitely the better choice. Love that colour combo!

the blue/black epoxy has an elegance a single colour would lack

I love the black base. I've done the same thing many times, but I usually use black resin, which makes it a little simpler decision.
As Metallica said so eloquently in And Justice For All - Blackened ….
Also, wow, what an amazing piece.
Plus, good to see Charlie 🐶 make an appearance….
Yes, we need more Charlie haha!
Thanks so much
Love the table as always. I like the black base, but if the table was for me, I'd like natural wood.
That's fair! Thanks Debbie!
Love the black finish

This piece is very beautiful. I like it best!
Thanks Tim!
Love the blue colour
Another absolute beautiful table.
Thanks Jim!
You are the very best in your art. I appreciate the explanation of your process especially
Thank you so much Josie!
Great work, looks amazing.
Where's the famous machine that you've been talking about for 2 years?
It’s coming eventually, maybe
Soon
You'll see it in our next video probably!
Lol I hope u saw the machine in the new video u happy now ya prik
Nice to see Charlie again even for a second
Yes, we need him in more videos haha
@@BlackForestWoodCo I can see stickers or an emblem made with “@BlackForestWoodCo” and then his face over the top of it
Definitely like the black base better 👍
Both my wife and i think that table is beautiful.
Thank you both so much!
Another content creator I follow, Sprague Wood Turning, uses a product: "hyper shift, I think would be cool for one of your tables."
We'll have to check it out!
Turned out pretty like always!
Thanks Jake!

Beautiful piece.
Thank you Andy!
I would have use a torch for the base I think it would have looked pretty nice and reveal the nice wood pattern too
Wow. Totally awesome
Thanks so much!
Beautiful wood, love the figure. I’m not a fussy person. If the customer likes the black base. So be it. ❤💛🧡
Thanks Maddie! Yes, at the end of the day what the customer wants is most important!
HI SWEETIES! MISSED YALL! FABULOUS TABLE AS ALWAYS!!! SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
I LIKE YOU ALL VERSION OF THIS TABLE. IT'S SEXY!
Superb color combo
Thanks so much!
There's areas on this table that look 3-D. Very nice!
I love the look of the colored resin with the clear on top. Do you do anything special to keep the clear epoxy from turning yellow?
Our resin has UV inhibators in it, and it's slightly tinted blue/purple to combat yellowing
Beautiful !!!
Thank you Sarah!
This is beautiful, but in all honesty, I liked the original design.
Great piece of wood for the top!
I saw your overpour blocks in your resin room. What do you do with them?
Do you ship epoxy to uk ? Also are moulds reusable after use ? Keep up the fab work 👍🏻
8:28 Are those sold round blocks of resin back there? If so they would make some interesting turnings.
Yes they are, and yeah they probably would be haha! We use them as weights to keep slabs down in the moulds sometimes
Can you tell me the name of the brand of the tool you guys use for checking up the moisture in the slabs please?
Black all day long!!!!!!

Looks great. I wasn’t a fan of the original design
Fair! Thanks Scott!
While I love the epoxy pieces, how about showing some of the furniture you make that isn't an epoxy piece ? Or is epoxy all you do ?
A lot of our tables have resin in them but our doors rarely do. Here's our door playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLduZGFhWW60fP8liVDcdPJXBhh4FLmdfG
I like the 2nd design better.
Are those slabs kiln dried or air dried?
Mostly air dried and then kiln dried after a few years is typically how we do it
@@BlackForestWoodCo Thanks. I suppose you need stability with the cost of your projects.
You got a new lathe in your classroom area?
A llight base would distract from the top, so black yes
Agreed!
Assuming this is going to be a video about sanding...
Haha, good guess!
The dowel supports ruin the look for me, beautiful top though

Was that a Hailey sighting at the first of the video ?
Nope, that's Leah! I was behind the camera filming haha

@@robintaylor-mockingeemill8223 We will! Thanks so much!
and where is the woodworking?
A table without plastic is even better.
For you.
@TimberworksTables For anyone that likes wood.
@@augustwest8559 Yes, there are people who assume their opinion is the only one that is correct.
Lots of us who like wood enjoy the epoxy tables, too
@TimberworksTables It's a fad. Plastic tables don't age well ergo will be thrown out in one generation.
We have too much Plastic in society.
@@augustwest8559 Whether it's a fad is irrelevant to your original stance.
