    That looked like fun. Something about those loose, off camber, chunky, fast, desert trails makes me smile. One of these winters I’m rv’ing to California. I’m thinking New Years to Valentine’s Day.

    Hey man- great channel great content. So funny just came across this video today and my 13 y/o son and I rode dead cow up and suicide down yesterday. Did two laps on our decoys. Took 18 minutes up only stopping at those two technical rocky sections about 2/3 of the way up you pointed out in the video. Still learning on the ebikes how to climb as it is a new skill set for sure as on an analog bike would have never even attempted it. Have been riding that trail and suicide for years. First time I took my son a year ago on his analog reign when he was 12 he was literally in tears. Now on the ebike suicide is his favorite trail. Haha. Anyway had no idea you were a local and great explanation of the trail system up there.

      Hey thanks a lot Gisho! So stoked to hear that you and your son are riding together and having fun. I started riding in Chesebro, Los Robles and Sycamore Canyon trails about that age with my dad and it led to a life of chasing two wheels! Some of my best memories are those rides together, so enjoy them and glad that Decoy turned tears to smiles! Although, I do think some suffering builds character! haha. I remember walking my butt up the Black Bitch in Sycamore more than a few times... haha.

      @@TheLoamWolf exactly brother, trying to create some memories with my son, get him into mountain biking (which he has totally fallen in love with) and away from video games. Lol. He’s on the Newbury Park high school mountain biking team and we have a place in mammoth so we ride there too. Living in Newbury park we are literally down the street from satiwa and yes we go down (and up) sycamore canyon aka the dreaded black bitch haha as well as space mountain etc on the Thousand Oaks side. Agree some suffering is necessary and he still rides his analog bike quite a bit. There are some fun trails down there but my son likes steep and technical. Anyways cheers brother and happy trails

    So would you still do this climb on a regular bike ? I love my Trek Rail and try to find the steepest hills to climb.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  3 года назад

      Yeah used to do it weekly on a regular bike, and would also push DH bikes up it back when they weighed 50lbs too haha. If I recall, it's about a 25min pedal on a non-e bike.

    I have been to Dead Cow going down….. how does it compare to Suicide ?

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  2 года назад

      Similar but Sui is a bit narrower, faster and I'd say rockier since Suicide seems to have been getting tamed down and having rocks removed over the last many years.

      @@Leowavekid No, Suicide has been getting more and more groomed. If anything I'd say Dead Cow has gotten gnarlier in certain sections due to erosion.

    Let me start with I have enjoyed most of your content with you vids..But I have a big problem with you broadcasting where to park and encouraging people to ride Dead Cow. If your really from the area you know that some trails should be left for the local residents to hike. Their is already to many Mtb riders giving us core riders a bad name by bombing trails like Dead Cow. With local residents just out hiking the trail is skinny and a rider can easily catch them off guard. Im not saying not to ride it. But If you invite the masses it will not be accepted well. By local residents who live live on King James and that neighborhood. Places like Laguna Beach are more accepting of Mtb riders . Agoura Oak Park its not as accepting. I do go all the way to ride Laguna once a week also to ride with friends who live there. I have had house's in Chesebro, Liberty Cyn, Malibu Lake, and am now in Oak Park. I am older than you and have been on Mtb's prob longer than you have been on this planet? I am still pretty fast and accomplished rider. I am involved with Mtb and moto media since the early 80's so I do know what Im talking about. You stepped over the live with this one and my local rider friends will agree with me on this. Im not here to Bash you but I think you made the wrong call by giving out where to park and all the detail you did. I do know other Vloggers who did not agree when someone did just what you did and put their local spots on Blast. And now residents are upset in that neighborhood It just gives us a reckless stereo type. With all the cooks that are going to show up leave trash and take their parking spots and leave trash. I have experienced it and half of them have no business riding a trail like this.. Im disappointed .. That was my vent..

      What's the difference between an MTB rider and a core ride?

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  3 года назад +6

      Thanks Rubber Duck. Appreciate you sharing your vent and we can understand your frustration as we've all felt/lived it before. RUclips/Instagram aren't the first (or only place) people have been sharing trail beta, shoot, when I was a little kid growing up we bought and read books, like this one here: www.amazon.com/Mountain-Biking-Monica-Mountains-Trails/dp/0938665553 and got trail info, parking locations, route guides etc. I wonder if people use to mail him hate letters for blowing up local spots? haha. I digress.
      While we do take those things into account, and never like posting secret trails, true "rider built" locals stuff, decades old multi-use trails, which have very long and clear lines of sight for I'd say 90% of the trail, aren't ones we're too worried about sharing. Certainly it's understandable, but in reality, 95% of these people watching are looking for entertainment, 2.5% have already ridden it, and 2.5% might come visit, and if they do, they'd find all the info on Strave, TrailForks or another app just the same...Not to take away your feelings, like I said, we get it. We are riders first and foremost, and I grew up riding this trail.
      We should hope to better educate our fellow riders to not leave trash, be disrespectful to neighbors or hikers and generally just be good humans rather than not share awesome places to ride and inspire folks to have fun on bikes.
      Thanks again for writing in a respectful way and not being a dick. We certainly appreciate it and like I said, thinking about "What will posting this video do?" is a question we ask ourselves all the time when related to destination pieces. But without magazines, books, internets, apps, videos and the like, people wouldn't know how rad Sedona, Moab, Whistler or other places are either, so unless we all want to stop sharing and blowing up local spots, the best we can do is hope to be good stewards and people on the trail.

      @@TheLoamWolf Well times have changed since those first books. You reach so many people these days.. you can compare them "but" its is a different world now. and will be again soon. I get that.
      Im curious where you pulled those stats from? That was your guess? And thats cool.. But its a guess..
      The issue is I have seen and experienced what a percentage of the people who do park in these places it does bring some disturbance in different ways I could try and list them. But Im not here to argue .
      But anyway Im not going to hound you about this .. Its not worth it .. Just voicing my opinion thats part of the deal here. People can chime in with what ever they think..
      I am on your side and support what you do and bring to MTB community its Awesome.. I commend you..
      I just see this from a different position than you from my personal experance...
      Carry on....Thumb's Up... RubberDuck Out..
