_Earthling_ has aged incredibly well. Better than many of the albums that inspired it. "Telling Lies", "Dead Man Walking", "Seven Years In Tibet" - the benefit of a top composer 🔥 Bowie never did straight Hip-Hop but he did do a couple Gospel tracks, singing with Cissy Houston & Chaka Khan on "Underground" and "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday". Also tried his hand in New Jack Swing RnB with _Black Tie White Noise._
Always had a special place in my heart because I was finally able to buy a new Bowie album that was full of music I had never heard before. Like when you get your first new clothes after a childhood of wearing hand-me-downs.
'Earthling' is an out-of-this-dimension album ! To my knowledge, no other rock star from the 70s or 80s the stature of Bowie had the guts to release a drum'n bass album and mess with electronically sped up tempo, resulting in a classic that stands comparision with the best of The Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers or Orbital ! And all this in his own Bowian style : mind-nubbing ! PS : Please, give a listen to "African Night Flight". It's from his 1979 album "Lodger". And I can't wait to know what genre you think this particular song belongs to...
I don't know how he does it but damn glad he did! Thanks. There's a song on this album called Dead Man Walking. I couldn't stop playing it when this came out.
@@princebloodgrave8097 Yes! Me too. I remember I had a long drive the week this album came out. I love Bowie and while Outside was a return to form, Earthling was a much better driving album. I loved it. Don't know why it's never discussed, kinda dissed as a copy cat drum and bass album.
He did an acoustic version of Dead Man Walking on Conan Obrien's NBC Late Night show. They released a soundtrack album of some favorite performances by different people, and it's on that.
Just this morning reading a reassessment of Bowie’s final album “Blackstar” which was allegedly influenced by “to pimp a butterfly” on repeat; the ‘indirect’ influence of Kendrick Lamar is probably the track “Girl Loves Me” - not rap but very creative; the lyrics are a made-up language from the novel “a clockwork orange” and also old English slang phrases.

I agree. Love the album
Earthling was my first Bowie album. Love it still as much as back in the day.
Man, I missed this. This album totally blew my mind in 1995. So crisp and full of life and vigor ❤❤❤
Love this song. Brings back so many great memories. Cheers. Keep up the great work on your great channel x

Fantastic Bowie album, Great reaction Cheers.
I always enjoy your Bowie reactions. You should try Bowie’s voyeur of utter destruction from Outside, awesome song!
I've always loved A small Plot of Land or Wishful Beginnings - Outside was my favorite album ever
Alright Alright!
Bringing the bars!
You should check out Bowie's last album, Blackstar- either the title track or "Lazarus" would be great picks off that album.
I hear some Beatle's influence.
Nine Inch Bowie
Little Firestarter Wonder!!

Yo Yo Yo Yo - What album is this on?
