If you choose to go down the Bowie rabbit hole, you will never be the same...in a good way. Not only was he uber talented, he consistently reinvented himself into a new version of cool throughout his career. And unlike most artists, he just got better with age. He and Prince passed away the same year. Two of the all time greats.
One of the most influential artists of all time from the 70's onwards. Constantly changing and innovating, re-inventing himself. Sheer class. Did you notice his eyes are two different colours?
I'm reminded of the time my friend trolled his sister. If you remember the music video, there's a scene where the gal is scrubbing the the street. Fast forward to IRL and my friend sees his sister scrubbing the kitchen floor in a similar manner and just starts singing the song. I wasn't even there but found that funny AF.
David Bowie was my first crush. I was born in 1979 and my favorite movie as a kid was The Labyrinth starring David Bowie as Jarreth, The Goblin King. When my niece was little in the late 1990's it became her fave movie as well and her first crush. Now she has children who love it and we all watch it together and sing and dance to it!❤
Stevie Ray Vaughan's playing on the songs from that album that they played on the radio were the first time many had heard him. It sounded like Bowie had managed to get Albert King to play on the song. This was before Vaughan's first album had come out, and he decided to tour promoting his album rather than tour with Bowie, which would have required learning a lot of other Bowie songs. On the music video, Bowie pretended to be playing the guitar.
Britt watch the official music video to make your own comparison. It also has a not so well known at the time guitar player by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
David Bowie is a unique individual. The first part of this performance kind of reminds me of the lead singer of talking heads. The original didn't have the tempo change, but I like what he did with it here.
In this live version you have Gail Ann Dorsey on bass and longtime Bowie sidekick on guitar - Earl Slick. Bowie always had a killer band behind him live.
The original music video for this was filmed in the outback Aussie town of Carinda, much to the bemusement of the locals at the time. Now the town celebrates their connection with the great man through an annual Let’s Dance Bowie music festival. The pub where the dance scenes were shot still stands with its iconic green tiled walls.
Bowie wandered around music genres, dipping a toe in and, seemingly effortlessly, producing some of the very best in class, of whatever style he was into at the time...
For more funk and soul: Try cuts from Bowie's Young Americans album with Luther Vandross back-up singers and David Sanborn on saxophone, like Somebody Up There Likes Me, Win, Fascination, Right and Can You Hear Me. Also Carlos Alomar funk on Secret Life of Arabia (Heroes album). His Let’s Dance album produced by Chic’s Nile Rogers (and it’s all good!). From Station to Station album: Stay. Also Black Tie, White Noise with Al B. Sure.…Tonight with Tina Turner... A friend of the the Black community - complained to MTV about Black videos being relegated to early morning. Married to Somali super-model Iman.
I went from being scared of him to loving him as an artist. First time I saw Bowie i was a child and he was performing on tv . He was onstage as an androgynous starman it freaked me out but I could not turn away!!!!
This was part of David Bowie's best selling album Let's Dance which was produced by Nile Rodgers of Chic who helped him to arrange and add the funk to many of the songs on the album. Great album!
Bowie's friends always lended a helping hand whenever needed or felt a certain musician had the right vibe on a Bowie tune. Other guitarist's who played on tracks are "Pete Townsend, Robert Fripp, Peter Frampton, Adrian Belew, Lenny Kravitz, etc. Shhiittee... At one time Luther Vandross was a backup singer for David Bowie. Just saying... ++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends++ 🤘😜🤘
The slow beginning wasn’t in the studio version. Bowie was always known for changing the way he delivered the vocals live that essentially sounded like he was doing a cover version of his own studio songs.
Bowie . Do you know he had one blue eye and one green eye , He was definitely different . All his music from the early 70s was unmistakeable .Great Great artist and musician. Thanks Btitt
I’m watching this video as I’m commenting.. lol.. I don’t if it’s cuz I’ve just had too much caffeine today, but when I heard that slow intro, I was like “No! That’s not the original version!” 😂 But it’s a great reaction as always. I get a kick out of your more animated or hyped up reactions. lol.. Anyway, you should react to David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s version of The Little Drummer Boy from 1977. 👍🏼
First album in 1967, he was still releasing music until his death in 2016. To sample some of his later work I would recommend the Heathen album in general and Slow Burn in particular.
What a great reaction to Bowie, he really was an amazing performer. Artists used to need to have charisma as well as talent, they could command a huge stage all by themselves without the need for gimmicks and background dancers etc I get that can be fun, but there is just something about old school artists missing from many modern artists.
"Sensational!" she says. Holy Overstatement, Batgirl. You liked that? That's a big deal for a first impression. For a lot of us I guess it grows on you- eventually. When David Bowie first came out- at least for us- a friend who had a larger record collection that I had- he had something like 200 albums in his neat little bedroom, albums all stored, organized and cataloged- albums were not cheap then, 200 albums was a significant collection. One day he showed me his latest album, some guy named David Bowie, the album cover featuring the weird title of The Rise of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Just from the title I was out. I was still listening to Joni Mitchell's Blue that came out the year before. I was still learning Cotton Jenny on the guitar from Gordon Lightfoot's Summer Side of Life album. So what's this new thing? Some guy named David Bowie? He was like a rock thrown through a stained glass window. My impression did not improve when Pin Ups and Diamond Dogs followed. The first time I liked a Bowie song- kind of- it sounded like crap, but interesting crap- was a decade ago when Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, the commander of the mission at the time, sang Space Oddity aboard the space station after smuggling his guitar aboard. Here's the first music video I'm aware of filmed in space: ruclips.net/video/KaOC9danxNo/видео.html
David lived for a while near my apartment in Berlin (400 meter). He had a beautiful black woman (with 60 she looked like 30 and a bit like Grace Jones). Let's Dance was an early music video they played discotheques (Ballhaus Tiergarten - now an embassy). Btw really first music video was Scorpio Rising by Kenneth Anger (1963).
The live arrangement as you said is quite different than the album track and I get why that is because this is one of his biggest songs so naturally I would imagine he would want some variety in his performance so it doesn't get too routine
Bowie didn't really like this song especially in the studio format. He said it was more Nile's vision than his. He also said that album turned him into something he never wanted to be? A middle of the road rock star.
yeah nils rogers produced it n he brought v funk out in david, first 2 tracks all wnt top ten here in au, he also tured here n v film clip here 4 lets dance
She seems to like to listen to inferior live versions and not the one that was the hit song on the radio that everyone knows which doesn't make sense to me.
Don't know the exact year. I'm guessing around 83 or 84. I got to see him on the tour for this album. We're talking like 40 years ago. Where has the time gone for all of us ?
@grahamkelsey1675, Those are a few musicians who inspired & influenced Prince, no bout a doubt it. However, "Pepe Willie" was Prince's main man & cat & all that who mentored the young Prince Nelson in music. Just saying... +Peace, Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😎🤘
Reading my mind…. I was going to suggest a song by David Bowie next. Love this version of the song. I would suggest Heroes if you should pick another song.
This song was written by Niles Rodgers. He wrote songs for Madonna like Get Into The Groove, Material Girl and Good Times for his own group Chic. The baseline from the song Good Times was the same baseline used on the first ever Rap song called Rappers Delight. Here is a link of Niles playing his hits live. ruclips.net/video/pRERgcQe-fQ/видео.html
Bowie was the best! This version was really good. It sounded so much like the recording. I was amazed. The intro was super. Very cool. That was different.
The tempo adjustment is something for this performance. The original studio version doesn't have that. This is actually the only solo song of his I like. I also like his duet with Mick Jagger - Dancing in the street, I would highly recommend it.
Is there any chance of reacting to the same David Bowie performance of Heroes that Polo (another reaction video person) reacted to? Really enjoy your reactions.
Bowie -- the Master. 40 years later, you can still put this iconic song on in any club and watch the dancefloor explode.
Well said and spot on.
On the studio track it's Stevie Ray Vaughan playing guitar! It's well worth the listen.
Oh wow!
It's a live arrangement. The studio version is what you hear in the switch. Nile Rodgers produced it; Stevie Ray Vaughan played guitar on it.
"Put on your red shoes and dance the blues" is one of my favorite lyrics ever. ❤
Fame, Stay, Changes, 1984... so many great ones
Now you’re going to experience one of the most genius musicians to ever exist. I miss him greatly, RIP Starman, Thin White Duke…….😥
Oh my gosh, I love your reaction. You need to do more reactions to Bowie! He is amazing! Such a great performer and his voice is like no other!!
Thank you so much! I’ll take a deeper look!
YESS
Bowie was a legend and is greatly missed.
One of the most influential artists of all time from the 70's onwards. Constantly changing and innovating, re-inventing himself. Sheer class. Did you notice his eyes are two different colours?
aaah Bowie, what a class act, i will never forget Diamond dogs, my 14 yr old ears didn't know what was going on, he was an innovator
BRITT BRITT BRITT !! "HEROES" LIVE BOWIE YOU GOTTA
I’ll look into it!
I agree
The studio version was all upbeat. The ballad-y intro was only in his live version. It works.
Each to their own. I thought it was horrible and off-key.
David Bowie had "IT"!
Agreeeeeed!
And then he went back and had it again with sprinkles
A genius taken from us far to soon, RIP MR Bowie, you are a soundtrack to a generation.
bowie is a legend and a musical genius and inspired a hole generation of musicians. RIP
Bowie was the king of the unusual,in a good way! He has so much music for you to react to, and you won't be disappointed in any of it!
Iv seen Bowie live twice and the incredible musicians that played with him over later years ..absolutely unforgettable. ❤
I love that you were having as much fun as Mr . Bowie was having on that stage . And yes i danced with you .
Next listen to Bowie’s song China Girl
I'm reminded of the time my friend trolled his sister. If you remember the music video, there's a scene where the gal is scrubbing the the street. Fast forward to IRL and my friend sees his sister scrubbing the kitchen floor in a similar manner and just starts singing the song. I wasn't even there but found that funny AF.
I’ll check it out!
No matter what David did it was stellar. I'm especially fond of the Ziggy Stardust album from 1972. Part of my high school soundscape.

Probably, the best version live of this song! I LOVE IT!
Britt watch the official music video to make your own comparison. It also has a not so well known at the time guitar player by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I saw him live and he changed outfits for every song.
studio version rocks hard, i remember when this came out........im old
Bowie's live performance of Under Pressure is EXCEPTIONAL
Dear David Bowie....no one will ever meet his mastery and genius!! Adore him!!
David Bowie is a unique individual. The first part of this performance kind of reminds me of the lead singer of talking heads. The original didn't have the tempo change, but I like what he did with it here.
Watch Nile Rodgers talk about putting this song together. It's a pretty good story.
In this live version you have Gail Ann Dorsey on bass and longtime Bowie sidekick on guitar - Earl Slick. Bowie always had a killer band behind him live.
Btitt you are hilarious.

The master David and the outstanding belle BRITT.
Bowie was Fantastic 😍❤❤

Love seeing Bowie at this point in his life so happy and enjoying his craft.
What a fantastic reaction....love it... David Bowie is an Icon
Thank you so much!
@@brittreacts 😃
such an awesome find. haven't heard this live version. love it..
Interpretation of his 80's hit studio version. Sounds amazing
Just started watching. You have a great voice.
It's majestic.
I went from being scared of him to loving him as an artist. First time I saw Bowie i was a child and he was performing on tv . He was onstage as an androgynous starman it freaked me out but I could not turn away!!!!
Britt, I Love Love Love your channel! Watching you react is Beautiful and Amazing!! 😊😅😂❤❤❤🎉
This was part of David Bowie's best selling album Let's Dance which was produced by Nile Rodgers of Chic who helped him to arrange and add the funk to many of the songs on the album. Great album!
Magic...its Magic 🎉❤😊
My favorite artist. Great live video. Never heard it before. The man is a legend. Musical chameleon.
No doubt!
Bowie's real name is David Jones... he adopted the moniker Bowie to avoid confusion with the OTHER David Jones... Davy from the Monkee's!
Excellent performance ❤
Love the bass
David Bowie recorded one of the greatest albums ever, _Scary Monsters_
It is reported that iconic late great musician and singer, Stevie Ray Vaughn aka SRV played on studio version.
And John Lennon played guitar on FAME.
Bowie's friends always lended a helping hand whenever needed or felt a certain musician had the right vibe on a Bowie tune. You have the best reactions!
the serious moonlight tour was so great.
definitely check out Bowie's "China Girl" if you've never heard it.
Bowie . Do you know he had one blue eye and one green eye , He was definitely different . All his music from the early 70s was unmistakeable .Great Great artist and musician. Thanks Btitt

My favorite song to work out to.

David Bowie can act as well. Did a few movies. Talented man. Check out the movie "The Hunger"

Stevie Ray Vaughn is guitarist on the studio version.
My favorite. Even had red shoes.
This song is also the sample for Biggie’s “Been Around the World”.
I would HIGHLY recommend Diana Ankudinova ...the song is WICKED GAMES . I promise it is a voice like you have never ever heard. It is unreal
Bassist Gail Ann Dorsey performed a fantastic cover of Queen's "Under Pressure" with David Bowie.
My favorite version was recorded in a French tv show: Taratata.

From the "Thin White Duke" (David Bowie), I like his live version of "Blue Jean". You might like his song "Fame" that he co-wrote with John Lennon
The most interesting man in the world.
Bowie - life on mars
Classic Bowie. R.I.P.
You may have heard of the model named Iman, he was married to her. A serious love story.
That's the thin white Duke you got there...none better...check out his version of the little drummer boy with Bing crosby..classic
Bowie didn't really like this song especially in the studio format. He said it was more Nile's vision than his. He also said that album turned him into something he never wanted to be? A middle of the road rock star.
"I'm afraid of Americans" with Trent Reznor please
yeah nils rogers produced it n he brought v funk out in david, first 2 tracks all wnt top ten here in au, he also tured here n v film clip here 4 lets dance
The official video blows this away.
She seems to like to listen to inferior live versions and not the one that was the hit song on the radio that everyone knows which doesn't make sense to me.
Dance Magic Dance is a great one by Mr. Bowie
Britt, you will love Young Americans and Changes by Bowie!
Don't know the exact year. I'm guessing around 83 or 84. I got to see him on the tour for this album. We're talking like 40 years ago. Where has the time gone for all of us ?
Bowie, Hendrix and Jagger....Prince's main mentors
Larry Graham

Great reaction! If you have time, listen to the studio recording of Let's Dance. This, and Fame were his 2 top dance tracks.
I will check it out
