This is the device I’ve been waiting for. Never wanted to drag a laptop to a gig, so thanks much Scott for turning us on to this game changer device. Stay well dude!
M Live was smart to send it to you for review. I can't think of anyone better who could present such an amazing, feature-rich, piece of gear, without overwhelming the audience. Amazingly well thought out unit, and I agree it is fairly priced, putting into the hands of musicians that can take advantage of it's power and utility. Kudos all around! 👏
Bought one of these in January and ran it on a tour flawlessly, very solid unit. Easy to set up and run live, will look into running midi patch changes thanks to this vid ❤
Whoever invented this read my mind 100%. This is unbelievable and a game changer for me and my band. Your tutorial is awsome also. Mine came only with a German manual. Thanks dude!!
I don't know how you always find this gear, but this thing is awesome! We do live band karaoke so we rely on synced video quite a bit for lyrics screens/music videos. This looks like it could be a great back up option for our Ableton setup. Thanks for sharing
Oh nice! Yeah this definitely would be a great option! They actually DO have it where it lines up directly with karaoke. Look into it more, it will follow exactly with the lyrics like karaoke. I had to cut some stuff from this video, so I didn’t include that. But it has that feature as well!
Thanks for another terrific review/tutorial. I've been a gigging musician for almost 45 years and am constantly amazed by the technological advances that have become available to performing musicians during that time. Scott, I'd be interested in learning - perhaps other viewers would as well - where you see technology taking the performing musician in the *next* 45 years.
Dude I can’t even imagine how the tech is going to get! A lot of people are worried about AI, and it will be interesting for sure. But I can’t even imagine how the tech will evolve in the next few years. Anything that makes life easier I think will be adopted. In ears, direct rigs, etc. it will be super fascinating to see!
Hey Scott...Thanks for the PREMO turtorial...Will you be doing an update on the new B.Beat 16 Pro+ rackmount unit and perhaps the stems prep/loading? Your channel is AWESOME!!!
I'd been very much interested in the Idoru Backing player, and I always wish these units had cue markers and loop points, so you could go to practice and just focus on the parts you need learn for new tracks you are making, but these units only have Start, Stop. I actually use Denon Prime Go as my backing player because if has 8 Cue points. One day maybe.
Hey Scott, thank you for this amazing video! We've used the LP-16 for the past couple of years. The power supply started acting up and we knew we needed to find a replacement. We almost went with the Track Rig after watching your review. Then we saw this device - it seems too good to be true. We just purchased it with your affiliate link. Thank you for the great videos. We know how much work it is to create these and appreciate all your efforts. Very helpful!
Scott, I have been watching your vids from the beginning because, as I have posted before, you do what I do.. Your videos are getting better and better and you are a go to when you post. Keep up the great work.
Hey Scott, I purchased a B Beat to replace my IPad. Great device and thanks for the exellent video. I use only stereo backing tracks live ( maybe in the future also video’s, I play Rush and my instrumental music.
Damn! I wish I knew about this product sooner. Small enough to put into a shelf, probably very light, safer than taking a laptop and interface (especially when traveling) and can do more than just playing tracks. Probably will use this to attach it to my hi-hat stand with a mic clamp and use a small pedal to start and stop songs with just a few foot steps to make it easier. Thank you so much for the full tutorial. I'll know how to handle this thing when I have it in my hands.
This thing is going to be so handy. Right now the laptop we use on stage isn't the best so we have to prerender out the back tracks and video to an mp4 and play the set through windows media player =P Seems a lot better than buying a laptop that can power everything though the DAW and easier to manage than rendering out a new set and moving it across however many flashdrives and uploading whatever. Appreciate you sharing this^^
Well, I watched your IDORU P.1 video and was very impressed. The only thing I wished it could do is display lyrics. Then I found this video for B-BEAT which offers lyric display. I'm somewhat torn making a decision. I really like the footboard format of the P1. I see you can play/pause a file with a foot switch, but is it also possible to also select next file to play with the B-BEAT? Thank you for the awesome videos and all your advice Scott. You rock bro!
Thanks! And yeah if you want lyrics, b beat is the only option. You can use a foot controller with it, but it’s more a play/stop feature with this one. You can select another song with the app though I believe
Hi Scott - great video as always. Would love to see a video on what gear you use to project/display video during your gigs. This is something my band is exploring, and the B Beat could make the managing/synching piece of that real easy. Thanks!
I’m currently using an “ultra short throw” projector and a cheap projector screen I found on Amazon. I kind of go over it in this old video of mine: ruclips.net/video/Wnwo3gjjbMs/видео.html But I definitely want to look into other options. I’ve seen video wall “curtains” that are interesting. The tech is evolving and I definitely want to explore it more 🤘
disregard my last post. I realized that, in order to do what i want to do, i have to create the mp4 separately. I can add a single image to a song and make it as long as I need it to but multiple files within the song have to be created. thanks for your help. I'm learning
Superb video! Absolutely fascinating piece of kit! What an exciting time it is to be a technical director of a show. At 80, my technical director days are long over. Those were the days! Scott, would you please review a few time machines for me? And again, thank you so much for your help!
Love it! We have been looking at new audio interface with 6 outs for backing tracks. This is slightly more $ but eliminates the laptop. The video synch is nice touch as well.
A million thanks for posting this Scott! This is brilliant. Ditching my laptop and interface immediately. Quick question, can you simply display a media file (logo etc) non stop for a gig's duration or does it have to be tied to individual scenes and songs?
🎉WAUW MIND BLOWING awesome!! And then to think that only now i got the whole inspiration of and was reminded of this video after watching your valuable 60 items from NAMM 2024 showcase. (I highly recommend everyone that likes music gear to watch till the end🎉) This is a crazy valuable work production tool I do will buy and start working with for my new shows i want to create in 2024. Thank you again for your professional structured and inspiring product explainer video. Kind musical regards from out of Finland. Bastiaan
Thank you! Glad you found it as mind blowing as I did when I heard of it. It’s such a great device! Cheers! I love Finland and really hope to visit again someday
I might have to get this, I currently run my tracks on an SPD Pro, but i've spent extra money on taking on fly dates. This would be so much smaller to take abroad and it links video.
Just what I was looking for. I bought one after watching this video through the link you posted. BTW your link for the midi cable shows female 5 pin instead of male.
Scott's always finding the goods! =) Powerful compact device! I always pass your vids on, but sent this to a friend who could totally use this for his busking. Plus, he'd utilize the hdmi port to sync video as well. Very cool feature!
Love the MBeat, actually im on a big Live Band and yesterday just before the Show we had a problem with the power supply. It was turning on but not leaving the Inicial Logo, So no Play, Stop, Playlist, nothing. But still light up and have power. Sundely i tried to put my Powerbank of my phone ant guess what, it works, so for now, 5 months after, the power supply dead on me, not enough power on the Ac adapter i guess. Just ordered another on amazon. Ugreen. But anyway is a good product, to bad the power suply is not stronger. Now i ordered another Mbeat for backup Spare, we never know and also the power supply extra..Cheers and nice video. ;)
Thanks Scott. I’ve been looking for a device that offers a simple backing track and video for my shows that could easily be set up in a portable device. I also use the XR18 mixer. Thanks your videos Rock!!
Just got this. Thanks for the video, it made the whole setup process a lot easier! Quick question: Is there really no way to route the aux inputs to the outputs?? Seems to only be coming through in the headphones out, and there is no menu that let's me route the aux input anywhere. This would be helpful for hooking up a synth directly to the inputs so it's easier to mix the levels with the playback.
I used your link to purchase one! can't wait for it to get here. can I route more than one track to an output? like just give the venue a stereo cable? I have a stereo backing track and one synth.
Hey Scott, your video series on backing tracks has been invaluable! Thanks! Doing a quick search it appears this device may be difficult to come by in the states but I’ll keep looking.
Holy moly. First of all - thank you for this incredibly well done walk through. Secondly - what an incredible device!! So many useful features im super tempted to pick one up. 2 questions: 1) after a year, how are you liking it? Everything still working well and has it been easy to implement at shows? 2) do you use a projector or monitor live for video, or do you send hdmi to the house projector or something? I’m just wondering logistically how best to run each output to FOH, projector, and click to the band Thank you again!!!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! This device is definitely one I still recommend. Running video can be tricky, but when I did do it I would run to an ultra-short-throw projector onto a screen
@@ScottUhlMusic so awesome thank you Scott! Definitely will invest in a super long HDMI cable to go with it so I can send it to wherever the projector looks best
Thank you very much for creating this informative video; it was incredibly helpful. I do have one question: if you are using click tracks in mono, is it possible to run them in stereo by connecting them to outputs one and two?
Thanks! And if your tracks are in mono, there is no point in outputting to 1 and 2 unless it’s for splitting, but a mono signal doesn’t turn into a stereo signal just by using two outputs
Hi Scott! So much great information! I just bought you a few coffees! Thanks so much! I am starting a new project where I will need backing tracks (for first time) and have been thinking of buying a new laptop and an audio interface, and now I see this. The one thing I don't like about this device is the MIDI connector (which will be very important for me). I am not so confident with that connector, versus a traditional 5-pin one. Maybe it is as good - I don't know :-(
I saw the coffees, thank you! That was really cool of you 🤘 Glad you enjoy the channel. I do wish the output wasn’t 3.5mm midi, but using those adapters that I have you can get it from 3.5mm to 5pin midi and it does work well, so it’s worth looking into 👍 I wish it was just 5pin, but it does still work
OK - thank you Scott! :-) Very interesting device! I particularly like the ability to send 6 audio channels (drums, bass, etc.) to my mixer where I can control the in-ear mix to the likings of the different musicians. This seems to be something I could "not" do with a laptop which would stream all tracks at once to an audio interface via the USB port.
OK, I correct myself after watching one other of your videos showing single file playback approach (with right and left channels) and the multitrack approach using USB and audio interface with many outputs, using a PC or iPad.
Scott, may I ask if you know if this would work with Android, considering I want to output MIDI tracks as well? I seem to find that the USB port of an Android can only be set for audio or MIDI, but not both at the same time. (I ask because my wife just purchased a nice Android tablet for her dad, but he doesn't want it. I'm trying to figure out if it could be helpful to me, to drive mp3's "and" MIDI out. Else, we will just return the tablet. Then, I would have to choose between a new PC and audio interface, versus the B.Beat.) Thank you!
😂😂😂 hahaha, if we could do that for Wagon Wheel, I would give it all my money! And you could setup a short scene and set it to loop I believe. I don’t know how many times it loops though. But that makes sense why there is a loop scene!
@@ScottUhlMusic 😆 “I’m sorry to reject your Play request but according to my research nobody wants to hear that song, is there anything else I can help you with?”
Wow, what a cool and useful device! I agree that it's indeed a great tool. I noticed that you did not address memory. Importing a lot of multitrack audio, video and pdfs could potentially fill up a drive quickly.I assume it's flash memory, but how much storage? Is the internal memory expandable? Great that it can access external storage via USB, but having an external drive dangling of the device while it's mounted on a mic stand isn't great. Not to mention that it would prevent other use of the USB port (like the wifi pen) without a USB hub (also dangling?). Another question I had was does it have the ability to capture/create MIDI tracks like StageTraxx 3 does? Or did you have to create that in an app on your computer? And how is it powered? Thanks for all you do Scott! You're a gift to modern musicians.
I should have addressed that, and I don’t know why I didn’t. I thought the screenshot would be enough, and I should not have just left it at that. It’s 128gigs. If you use MP3s instead of WAV (high quality mp3 sound just as good as wav) and don’t go too crazy with too much video, you should be good! I wouldn’t put all 300 of my songs I have tracks for on here though haha And midi does have to be made on the computer 👍
Hello Scott Have you seen the M-Live released two bigger versions of B-Beat? B-Beat X and B-Beat Pro 16 what is abolutely beast with 1 TB disc space and 16 outputs. And you can mount both of them in the rack. Are you going to review them too?
Hi Scott, this is great! I have a Cymatic LP-16 but they have stopped making them (it is 16 separate tracks out and midi!) this will be great for me when the other goes. Love the video option !
Yup! Definitely an upgrade IMO from the Cymatic. This is the only device I’ve seen do this. The fact that it has video was the icing on the cake for me!
Hi Scott! thanks for the video ❤ did you have anny issues using it with an audio splitter? I am using it with xlr - plug (balanced) and sometimes it makes a lot of noise, depending on where you connect it... also i am a bit afraid of accidentally using phantom power on any channel and maybe burn the outputs of the B-Beat... any comments on this? thanks!
I don’t know about the phantom power thing, I’m sure they thought of that, but I’m not sure. And I’m not sure what would cause “noise” from a splitter. A splitter should be passive and simply split the signal, so I would see if it’s an issue with the splitter or the b beat
Thanks you so much Scott, a other amazing tutorial ! i just ordered. The part where you use your iPad, does your application on your iPad control the B-Beat or does it control the outputs on your Berhinger Xair? My question is , can you control the gain for each output directly on the b-beat ? Thanks !
its almost there for me. if only it had more than 1 midi connection and/or video connection (for lights and program change messages) also a way to put a usb hub on it for live cameras to switch between video and live streaming. i love it for small 3 piece or solo performance, however.
You only need one midi if you do it properly. If you need to connect multiple midi devices, use something like this: ruclips.net/video/iWPTYBq0VdA/видео.html
Thanks! Both are great, but are slightly different. B beat has video which is very nice and can import midi files instead of manually programming midi. So it just depends what your goal are. Both are great 🤘
Amazing tutorial, thanks, planning to buy one, I wonder if you can control 2 gears with midi, for example, 1 guitar pedal, and 1 vox pedal at the same time, with the midi file and can I use the wide jack for that?
Yup absolutely! Just have one set to read on channel 2 and another set to read on channel 3 for example. And the export all the midi messages to one midi file
Here are my thoughts after using an iPad/Stage Traxx 3 for backing tracks extensively. 1.) I love the simplicity and portability, 2.) Having no lyrics is the biggest bummer (unless you rig the video output somehow to display them, which would be a feat to accomplish.), 3.) 128 GB max storage is limiting, especially when using multitracks. Does this have option to connect external storage/flash drive?, 4.) It would be nice if it could accept midi commands as well as send them... for instance with my iPad I can use an iRig blueboard to start/stop songs and advance the playlist to the next song with the footswitch. Having to start it manually with your hand is a bit of an inconvenience., 5.) Lastly, this could be really cool as a portable karaoke machine - it would be a nice improvement if it could read the karaoke .CDG format for the video output.
This one can do lyrics with the update that I mentioned 👍 the usb can play tracks as well, but you are correct that it doesn’t accept midi in, only out. The pedal can be used for play and stop. And it actually does do karaoke!! I didn’t include that in the video because some stuff had to be trimmed, but it actually does do karaoke!!
@@ScottUhlMusic Nice, thanks. Your video is so thorough I missed the last part about lyrics. Not being able to use an iRig blueboard is not a deal-killer. One other question... do the mixer settings get saved with each song and then reload for each track?
Hey, thanks for making the video - this piece of gear looks fantastic! I'm currently reviewing my live setup which is an iPad running Camelot connected to a Quad Cortex via USB. The iPad runs the backing tracks, click tracks and midi automation to the QC (it also uses the QC as an audio interface to send backings/click). I want to make the setup more robust - connectivity between the iPad and the QC can be dicey if the iPad is also charging, and I'd like to stop using the QC as an interface. So my question is primarily around sending midi CC messages from the b-beat. You showed it working in your video, but I'm wondering how it's done? I had a skim through the manual and it looks like the b-beat needs midi files uploaded to it? Also curious about using the b-beat on the fly, in the heat of the moment on stage (if you've had that experience with it). Thank you.
I've been binge watching your content lately and it's really great stuff. But I gotta know what is that white guitar in the background. I've scoured your IG and haven't seen a single pick of it, but it looks super unique and I'd love to get a better look at it.
This one? CARBON FIBER Acoustic Guitar w/FX Out of the SOUND HOLE - Enya Nova GO ruclips.net/video/xINNjXJ7Kcw/видео.html Yeah it’s a really cool one!

Hey Scott, Thank you very much for your great videos. As a band, we have just started using the B.Beat to run our backing tracks. Do you have a workflow for synchronizing the backing tracks with lyrics or sheets on a tablet PC? In your video about the B.Beat, you briefly mention it towards the end.
Thanks! And I haven’t really messed with the lyrics since this video came out and it was a new feature. I will have to look into that more with the newer version that came out
what a great review! I did find the italian videos a bit tough to follow but you done everything in one video, thank you. Want to know- how reliable have you found this device? Have you gigged it much? It seems extremely well thought out and the ideal all-in-one audio/video/midi solution but is it bomb-proof? Also- how long does it take to boot up, from power-on to playback? thanks
I have not gigged with it because I just spent over a month getting 300 songs ready on another device lol, but I do plan to eventually use it live. I definitely trust this thing to be used live. Nothing in music is “bomb proof” but this thing is extremely solid. It only takes a few seconds to boot up. Maybe 10?
Hey Scott, Your review is awesome, and informative. You've convinced me take a honest look at purchasing one of these units to add to the functionality of my live band's performance. I have one question...I noticed there are several different versions at different price points on Amazon. Im trying to understand is there any difference other than the memory on the 32gb model and 128gb model. Can you verify? Please and thanks! And keep up the good work!
Thanks for an outstanding review of this product. I perform primarily as a solo or duo act. I create backing tracks on a keyboard as midi files and, on occasion, purchase midi files and then modify and arrange the tracks as needed, including adding the superior sounds on my keyboard. I then save them as either high quality mp3 files or wave files, usually leaving out the piano and organ parts. I'm assuming that importanting an mp3 file would just take up one track on the B Beat containing the entire audio file for playback. Correct? Alternately, could I use the midi connection to play an imported midi file in mulititrack form, picking up the sounds and midi commands from my keyboard? Hope the questions are clear. Thank You
It is really a great piece of kit. I’m about to switch from my Mac with Ableton to it. And with next firmware upgrades you’re going to able to do even more!
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for this great video. I'm italian and I know the company that builds this and I think they should be more than thrilled about your review. Great work! Hope it helps this products success worldwide given your experience as a live gigging musician and with backing tracks in particular.
@@BrotherGoodeI love it. While rehearsing and setting up things I still use Ableton to set volumes, do cuts and the whole process of prepping sets. Once I’m ready I transfer this on this great machine and bring it with me on stage. Having just one piece of gear for that it’s so much better than carrying a Max or a Pc with a sound card. Less cables, less worries, really quick to set a playlist and even run it with videos synced. Great piece of kit.
Super well explained, thank you very much! Can you explain how to connect the B.Beat to 2 separate Line6 HX Stomp’s through Midi (one used for guitar and one for bass), for both Stomp’s to receive each programming per song? Thanks
Thanks! And you would go out of the B Beat into the first stomp and then daisy chain it to the next one. Have different channels for each stomp. Or get something like this: ruclips.net/video/iWPTYBq0VdA/видео.htmlsi=f6gywPWBb-5WfNjT
5:17 great tutorial thanks! Just clarifying, you could send the headphones output containing just click / cues L and R and send it to the mixing desk like the other 6 outputs for a total of 8 outputs and have the whole band get their mix containing the click and cues?
@@ScottUhlMusic good call :-) the headphone output would be in stereo so you could have click and cues panned hard L and R into the desk to mix independently?A great machine with so many capabilities 👍
@@ScottUhlMusicShouldn’t you uncheck any outputs for the click if you want it to go just to the drummer? In the video you describe it as being controlled by the aux button but in reality that just mutes or unmutes channels for the drummer. If you want the click not to go from the line outputs you have to make sure it has no output assigned.
This thing looks amazing! Thanks for in-depth tutorial. I currently use a Looptimus foot controller to start/stop backing tracks in Ableton via MIDI. Do you have any idea if this device will allow you to assign certain songs to different foot switches on a controller? For example: Song 1 start via Footswitch 1. Song 2 starts via Footswitch 2. etc
I came across these guys at NAMM in 2022 and spoke with the CEO at the time. I’ve been waiting for an in depth product review. Great job. I’ve been trying to decide between Stage Traxx 3 versus the b.beat to replace my Cymatic LP-16 track player (due to lack of support). This unit seems to do everything that ST3 does but it adds video output (which is what was so intriguing to me). **UPDATE** I ordered one through your affiliate link Side note…they’re releasing a rack mount version later this year with 16 outputs as well as an expansion unit where you can add more outputs to the tabletop version.
@@ScottUhlMusic yes sir. Gonna be pricey though. They told me that they hadn’t settled on price yet, but they were thinking $1800-2000. I gave them feedback on that…it’s too much unless the storage is really large. I use videos for every track and all of our songs are mashups or medleys…so they end up being around 2Gb-2.5Gb per track in total data. I’d pay $1500 for a machine with multiple HDMI outputs and 1TB of storage….but they were a bit over the line on price, IMO
@@riffism I agree completely, if it's $2k for that, I think it would be too much. But still would be a really cool product, and I bet people would still buy it! That's killer. Thanks for the update!
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for the great videos. I’m really glad the YT algorithm suggested your channel to me a few months ago. A LOT of content that has intrigued me and informed my decision making process as a Music Director of multiple groups.
Hi Scott, great info, thank you for that. I wanted to ask you how can I export one midi track with different program changes on it? What software do you use for that? I'm using ableton live, but it doesn't allow me export various program changes in one midi track. I want to move my pedal guitar (kemper) with Bbeat. Thank you
Fantastic video tutorial, i had problem with the midi b type and you're the only one that explained everything well. I have a question: with my band we want to control 2 fractal fm3 for preset and scene change, we will use 2 different midi channel to send different program and control change. should we use a midi splitter and 2 separated midi cable or is better to use the midi thru of the fractal?
Glad it helped! And either would work for sure. I do like this splitter here: WIRELESS Bluetooth MIDI + MIDI Splitter - WIDI Thru 6 BT - Demo/Review ruclips.net/video/iWPTYBq0VdA/видео.html
Hey Scott. Love the videos. Just picked up a B. Beat for my band here in Canada. Sent from Germany. If came with a European power adapter….did yours also? I guess that makes sense I have lots of USB-C cables and power adapters. I just want to make sure I don’t screw anything up with the power. Did you have to make that change also? If so…what “wall wart” did you use? Thanks. Keep up the great work and videos.
Great video. What is the name of that little monitor you are using? I would like something similar to setup lyrics and charts that syncs to the B Beat.
It’s the device I use to see my screen when I film videos. I have a link in the description under “video gear” but I do think it might be too small for lyric application
Scott, quick question, that midi out for lighting control, does the midi go to a software light controller? If it does, which one for pc would u recommend? Or does it need to go to a lighting controller hardware? Is stage traxx3 out for Windows? How would u compare staxx with the bbeats? I am finding syncing a stage show, audio, video and midi for lights and gear is chaos, a complete tail chaser, please set me straight so I can find a direction and just go for it, thanks.
The beauty of the b beat is that you do not need a computer or tablet to use it live. Thats why I demoed the midi out into a lighting controller so you don’t need to use one. I’m trying out the MaestroDMX right now and I’m liking it. It takes a very long time to set all of this up, my first show took about a year to put together (but it was extra complicated). Watch videos on both and see which one works best for your needs 👍 Cheers!
@@ScottUhlMusic my biggest bitch about the light controllers is they do not save or export your projects, I bought a 200.00 adj and lost my channels and set up 3 times, I'd save a light fixture setting and it wiped out all the other channel settings. It costs 2600.00 before u get something decent in the light department.
@@ScottUhlMusic that's why I was going to the software side of things, the show buddy active and set list cost 420.00, that gets u the projection. I sent a message to stage traxx3 to ask if they had a Windows based package as it looks like they are more affordable. Coming from the audio recording and video production end of the business, the lighting a stage control systems seem to be in chaos, nothing really does the complete job very well. If u were starting out with stage control, audio, video and midi, what would u buy?
I see you use a two-unit start-stop pedal. Haven't you noticed latency when pressing it? Any delay in action? Any other function besides the start-stop? If it works fine, please tell me the make and model of the pedal. Thank you.
I mention in the video that you only get one button press. I used my two button one because that’s all I had. The footswitch is just used for start/stop 👍 no delay with it. The pedal I use is the TT2. I reviewed something similar here: ruclips.net/video/B2mSNYFPFiI/видео.html
Dear Scott. Thank you so much for this video (and for this great channel. I have a question regarding midi connection. on the links you gave there is 2 midi connectors: ◆ WIDI MASTER Wireless 5pin MIDI ◆ WIDI JACK Wireless Midi Adapter Do i need the 2 of them? - i want to connect my nord 3p. or maybe just use the ◆ 3.5mm MIDI (Type B) to 5 Pin MIDI Adapter - cheep and good option...right?
Fantastic video and it's probably what will push me over the edge to purchase this. I've been curious about it, and this explains everything I needed to know. Of particular interest is the ability to include midi light shows AND video. That's crazy cool. Also, I'm just dying to get away from a laptop for live performances. One question I have is, would the iConnectivity PlayAUDIO12 work with two of these in the same way that it does between two laptops to create a redundant playback system?
Another great detailed video. I assume since there is only one midi port, your have 16 midi channels; possible 16 devices to control (effects, keyboard changes, lights, etc)? Also, when it is pulling in midi tracks, does it send "note" data? I am a keyboardist, so midi means more to me. I could produce midi tracks and send to sound modules for live playback
Thanks! And good question. For the .midi file I loaded onto the B Beat it would have all the different midi info on different channels. So for my hx stomp I use midi channel 4, for my voicelive vocal fx I use channel 2, for my keyboard I use midi channel 3 and so on and so forth. And yes, it should send note data 👍 It outputs general midi, so it should do notes, CC, PC, etc 🤘
Thanks man! I appreciate that! This thing is right up my alley for sure 🤘
Bought one of these in January and ran it on a tour flawlessly, very solid unit. Easy to set up and run live, will look into running midi patch changes thanks to this vid ❤
Nice!! 🤘
What did u send the midi signal too for lighting control over dmx
We (80's cover band) have been using B.Beat for over a month now and we are hugely satisfied. The next step will be adding images and videos.

@@Thevery80sleon sorry, what do u send the midi files too
Do you know if any USB antenna will work or you specifically need the M-Pen. I asked BBeat but they were cryptic about it.
This is so perfect I'm practically crying. It's what I've always wanted.
Agreed, they really nailed it with this design 🤘
Awesome video! And a big shoutout to Stefano (from M-Live) for the outstanding post-sales support! 👌
Whoever invented this read my mind 100%. This is unbelievable and a game changer for me and my band. Your tutorial is awsome also. Mine came only with a German manual. Thanks dude!!
Thanks! Glad to help, and yeah this device is so helpful!
This thing looks insane and your tutorial on this and everything you post is so informative. Keep up the great work! You are appreciated
Thank you Blake 🙏
This is a miracle, the device and the video. Good job
I plan to! 🤘🤘
Amazing product and amazing video. The quality and organization of your videos just keep getting better. Cheers
Thanks!! I’m glad to hear that 🤘
Got it in Europe months ago, brought to Argentina. Your review's better than manufacturer's vid. Thanks, Scott. You rock :-)
Thanks Fabio!
Do use the midi to control lights, if u do, whaahht do u send that midi signal to control your lights
Thank you! I appreciate that :) enjoy the B Beat 🤘🤘
What did u send your midi too for lighting control
Got one. It’s fantastic.
Scott, I have been watching your vids from the beginning because, as I have posted before, you do what I do.. Your videos are getting better and better and you are a go to when you post. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Jerry! I appreciate that 🤘🤘 The new camera and software with the highlight/circle/zoom stuff really helped. 😊

Thank you 🙏
Hey Scott, I purchased a B Beat to replace my IPad. Great device and thanks for the exellent video. I use only stereo backing tracks live ( maybe in the future also video’s, I play Rush and my instrumental music.
Nice! Glad you enjoy the B Beat!
in future update of the BBeat, u will be able to use 2 BBeat in Sync. So you will have double outputs and more options
🤯🤯🤯
Appreciate you sharing this^^
Nice! Glad this video helped!
This device is wonderful! Thank you very much straight from Brazil!
Nice! Glad you like it 🤘
I appreciate the dedication and quality of your videos. I hope the universe rewards you accordingly. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Well, I watched your IDORU P.1 video and was very impressed.
Thank you Scott you are a really great presenter. Love your channel!
Thank you 🙏
Hi Scott - great video as always. Would love to see a video on what gear you use to project/display video during your gigs. This is something my band is exploring, and the B Beat could make the managing/synching piece of that real easy. Thanks!
I’m currently using an “ultra short throw” projector and a cheap projector screen I found on Amazon. I kind of go over it in this old video of mine: ruclips.net/video/Wnwo3gjjbMs/видео.html
But I definitely want to look into other options. I’ve seen video wall “curtains” that are interesting. The tech is evolving and I definitely want to explore it more 🤘
I use 50 inch LCD screens mounted on collapsible totem trusses for video. And HDMI splitter is all you need to feed the screens.
This is great. I run visuals for bands in NYC and something like this can be very useful.
Especially if you are doing visuals, I think this is a no brainer for sure!
disregard my last post. I realized that, in order to do what i want to do, i have to create the mp4 separately. I can add a single image to a song and make it as long as I need it to but multiple files within the song have to be created. thanks for your help. I'm learning
great info for this little gem. Well done Scott.
Thanks Paul!
Superb video! Absolutely fascinating piece of kit! What an exciting time it is to be a technical director of a show. At 80, my technical director days are long over. Those were the days! Scott, would you please review a few time machines for me? And again, thank you so much for your help!
Hahaha, send them my way and I’ll test them out 😂😂 Thanks for following the channel. And I agree, this is a really cool piece of gear!
Scott. Great review.
Been looking at this prior to your video. Gave a lot of info. Thanks.
Nice! I hope more musicians find out about this thing because it’s pretty incredible!
Love it! We have been looking at new audio interface with 6 outs for backing tracks. This is slightly more $ but eliminates the laptop. The video synch is nice touch as well.
Nice! Yeah this device is truly incredible. I want to buy a stand alone looper now, and use automatic looping with this device.
thanks Scott, what a cool gear. I always learn something new from this channel !
Thanks! 🤘🤘
A million thanks for posting this Scott! This is brilliant. Ditching my laptop and interface immediately. Quick question, can you simply display a media file (logo etc) non stop for a gig's duration or does it have to be tied to individual scenes and songs?
You can just have it play the logo all the time if there is no video file on any of the songs 👍
🎉WAUW MIND BLOWING awesome!! And then to think that only now i got the whole inspiration of and was reminded of this video after watching your valuable 60 items from NAMM 2024 showcase. (I highly recommend everyone that likes music gear to watch till the end🎉)

Thanks JP! It took forevvvvvvver to put this together, but I wanted to make sure to include all the stuff this device can do! Thanks for watching 🤘
This is almost perfect what is missing is ability to jump between song section. Very good review though. I actually been looking at this device.
Thanks! And you can fast forward and such, but yeah it doesn’t have labels for “verse, chorus, etc”
@@ScottUhlMusic One thing I need to clarify that this one accept audio tracks burlt not midi files (not midi command)
Really useful video. I've just bought one to try out.
Nice! Enjoy 🤘
Nice! And that’s the cable that I used unless they changed the link for some reason… but you want female so you can connect your midi cables to it
Scott's always finding the goods! =)
Powerful compact device!

Now i ordered another Mbeat for backup Spare, we never know and also the power supply extra..Cheers and nice video. ;)

Amazing device, especially with the hdmi, with this and video projector I could do a full on audio visual show on a really low budget
Exactly! 🤯
Wow I need this for an entire 90 minute show. I hope no storage limitations. Powered by a rechargeable?
90min should be fine. You plug it into standard power 👍 it’s 128gigs
Thanks Scott. I’ve been looking for a device that offers a simple backing track and video for my shows that could easily be set up in a portable device. I also use the XR18 mixer.
Thanks your videos Rock!!
Glad to help! Thanks!!
1:00 No f*way. This is awesome!
That was my reaction! 🤯
helpful, thanks. much appreciated
Nice! Enjoy 🤘 and no, it’s meant more for an in ear monitor input for like a drummer or something like that 🤘
Sold , I just ordered it !
Enjoy!
I used your link to purchase one! can't wait for it to get here. can I route more than one track to an output? like just give the venue a stereo cable? I have a stereo backing track and one synth.
Nice! Enjoy! And you can send in stereo if that’s what you mean 👍
@ I’m wondering if I’ll also need a mixer or if instead of sending six outs I can send everything out of the 1 and 2 output.
Very very helpfull, thank you! 🤩🌻
Wow this is cool it's similar to the cymatic audio devices but more features and a more compact design the bonus is the price isn't horrible too.
Yeah exactly! I didn’t like the design of the old discontinued cymatic audio stuff, but I loved this idea. This one is just brilliant!
Hey Scott, your video series on backing tracks has been invaluable! Thanks! Doing a quick search it appears this device may be difficult to come by in the states but I’ll keep looking.
Buying on Thomann is what I would recommend. I’ve ordered from them before 🤘🤘
Yeah unfortunately I think they’re out of stock at Thomann.
This thing is incredible.
Agreed!
Holy moly. First of all - thank you for this incredibly well done walk through. Secondly - what an incredible device!! So many useful features im super tempted to pick one up. 2 questions:
1) after a year, how are you liking it? Everything still working well and has it been easy to implement at shows?
2) do you use a projector or monitor live for video, or do you send hdmi to the house projector or something? I’m just wondering logistically how best to run each output to FOH, projector, and click to the band
Thank you again!!!
Thanks for the review! Two questions: 1. can you loop a scene for extended sections? 2. Does it have AI to prevent you from playing 500 miles? 😆
I wouldn’t put all 300 of my songs I have tracks for on here though haha And midi does have to be made on the computer 👍
most live sound is mono so makes sense to record backing tracks in mono
Hello Scott
Have you seen the M-Live released two bigger versions of B-Beat? B-Beat X and B-Beat Pro 16 what is abolutely beast with 1 TB disc space and 16 outputs. And you can mount both of them in the rack.
Are you going to review them too?
Working on a review of the Pro version now 🤘
Hi Scott, this is great!
Thanks !
Nice! Enjoy! And it’s just the settings for the behringer mixer, not the b beat. But you can control the b beat outputs from the device itself
its almost there for me.
if only it had more than 1 midi connection and/or video connection (for lights and program change messages)
also a way to put a usb hub on it for live cameras to switch between video and live streaming.
i love it for small 3 piece or solo performance, however.
You only need one midi if you do it properly. If you need to connect multiple midi devices, use something like this: ruclips.net/video/iWPTYBq0VdA/видео.html
Fountain of knowledge 👏👏👏
Would you prefer this over Stagetrax 3??
@@ScottUhlMusic amazing! Thanks man! Learned a lot with your channel! Keep it up! 🤘🏻😎
Amazing video! Helped me a lot!
What do you mean the mixer settings?
Thank you.
Correct, you need to create the midi file in a DAW like logic or ableton, then export it as a midi file, and then import that to the B Beat 👍
I've been binge watching your content lately and it's really great stuff. But I gotta know what is that white guitar in the background. I've scoured your IG and haven't seen a single pick of it, but it looks super unique and I'd love to get a better look at it.

Yeah it’s a really cool one!
I will have to look into that more with the newer version that came out
This is amazing. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
The wireless pen link doesn't work, fyi.
what a great review!
My understanding is it’s just a difference with the size of the storage 👍
I do love my LP 16, but I may just have to get a B Beat for the functions that the former just doesn't have.
Thank You
If I understand correctly, then yup that should work 👍
It is really a great piece of kit. I’m about to switch from my Mac with Ableton to it. And with next firmware upgrades you’re going to able to do even more!
Love seeing that this thing still keeps evolving even though it’s already incredible! 🤘🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for this great video. I'm italian and I know the company that builds this and I think they should be more than thrilled about your review. Great work! Hope it helps this products success worldwide given your experience as a live gigging musician and with backing tracks in particular.
Thank you! 😁
I'm currently an Ableton user as well but I'm thinking this piece of kit just might replace my laptop in the near future. How are you liking it?
@@BrotherGoodeI love it. While rehearsing and setting up things I still use Ableton to set volumes, do cuts and the whole process of prepping sets. Once I’m ready I transfer this on this great machine and bring it with me on stage. Having just one piece of gear for that it’s so much better than carrying a Max or a Pc with a sound card. Less cables, less worries, really quick to set a playlist and even run it with videos synced. Great piece of kit.
Truly brilliant and it IS reasonably priced for what it does. Questions: does it do MIDI time code? How would do lyrics? Thanks, great review!
Oh, sorry, posted too soon. Now I’ve got to get this!
Hahaha yeah man, it’s pretty insane what this can do!
@@ScottUhlMusic thank you very much!
5:17 great tutorial thanks! Just clarifying, you could send the headphones output containing just click / cues L and R and send it to the mixing desk like the other 6 outputs for a total of 8 outputs and have the whole band get their mix containing the click and cues?
I believe you have just the 7 outputs, not 8. 7 comes from the headphone out
@@ScottUhlMusic good call :-) the headphone output would be in stereo so you could have click and cues panned hard L and R into the desk to mix independently?A great machine with so many capabilities 👍
For example:
Song 1 start via Footswitch 1.
Song 2 starts via Footswitch 2.
etc
That I don’t know… I don’t believe so, but I could be wrong
This thing’s incredible truly! The ability to create a new family is worth the price of admission alone 😂
😂😂😂
I came across these guys at NAMM in 2022 and spoke with the CEO at the time. I’ve been waiting for an in depth product review. Great job.
I’ve been trying to decide between Stage Traxx 3 versus the b.beat to replace my Cymatic LP-16 track player (due to lack of support). This unit seems to do everything that ST3 does but it adds video output (which is what was so intriguing to me).
**UPDATE** I ordered one through your affiliate link
Side note…they’re releasing a rack mount version later this year with 16 outputs as well as an expansion unit where you can add more outputs to the tabletop version.
Thanks for ordering! And 🤯🤯🤯 a rack mount version??? Holy crap!! I’m definitely interested in that!!
@@riffism Thanks man! I'm glad to hear that :)
Thank you
I usually use Logic 🤘
Fantastic video tutorial, i had problem with the midi b type and you're the only one that explained everything well.
I have a question: with my band we want to control 2 fractal fm3 for preset and scene change, we will use 2 different midi channel to send different program and control change. should we use a midi splitter and 2 separated midi cable or is better to use the midi thru of the fractal?
Glad it helped! And either would work for sure. I do like this splitter here: WIRELESS Bluetooth MIDI + MIDI Splitter - WIDI Thru 6 BT - Demo/Review

@@ScottUhlMusic great I check it out really thx again :)
Are the inputs on this unit strictly for recording/the headphone jack output, or can they be routed to outputs as well for iem mixes?
The input is meant for a drummer to get an IEM mix is my understanding. Pretty cool feature!
I love that you were playing I write sins not tragedies
I was just working on the track for that one for my band haha, so it was good timing
I believe mine came with the European cable as well and I just needed the adapter for it. That happens sometimes! Enjoy your B Beat 🤘🤘
I have a question regarding midi connection.
on the links you gave there is 2 midi connectors:
◆ WIDI MASTER Wireless 5pin MIDI
◆ WIDI JACK Wireless Midi Adapter
Do i need the 2 of them? - i want to connect my nord 3p.
or maybe just use the ◆ 3.5mm MIDI (Type B) to 5 Pin MIDI Adapter - cheep and good option...right?
You can use either one with the proper adapter 👍 some people just like the options that come with the widi jack 😊
Is it possible to connect Ableton or Serato DJ with B Beat and sync live the audio played from them to the tempo of a track or a show in B Beat?
I don’t believe so… but the b beat can send midi out so maybe?
Fantastic video and it's probably what will push me over the edge to purchase this. I've been curious about it, and this explains everything I needed to know. Of particular interest is the ability to include midi light shows AND video. That's crazy cool. Also, I'm just dying to get away from a laptop for live performances. One question I have is, would the iConnectivity PlayAUDIO12 work with two of these in the same way that it does between two laptops to create a redundant playback system?
I don’t believe it has that feature, but that would definitely be cool if it does have it!
