Great advice Bill. Letting line out & trolling with just a swivel on works great. My father showed me that trick when we used to fish together. I used to do it a few times a year to minimize bird nests. Take care
Great tip Bill, Remember back in the day we kept everything as long as we could , my dad would take some poles to the lil bridge n let the line go down the creek n then reel it in. Another great video ✌️
Mr Bill sir that is a great tip. Believe it or not even for me as long and as much as I have fished never knew this. But I see exactly what you are saying and I have seen it happen to me many times and I didn’t know why 😂 now I know lol thanks for sharing my friend 👍
@@bjcoutdoors I found it out by fighting bull redfish and when I got the fish off sometimes my line would be so twisted and tangled up that rod was done for the day, cut off a lot of line until I asked an old salt what could be causing my line twist problem, didn’t figure it out on my own, just trying to pass on information! I was taught this 70 years ago!..But you Bill are doing everyone a favour bringing it to our attention once again!..I watch a lot of fishing videos and even professional anglers still reel while the drag is playing out!...Some even have a video showing how to spool the line properly in order to reduce line twist!!!...when all they have to do is stop reeling when when the fish is pulling drag!

That's a great tip! I never realized that was an issue because I don't like spinning reels. But, line twist is one of the main reasons I don't like spinning reels. Hmmm 🤔
It's a perfect tip that I was telling a newby salmon fisherman that i took just a couple of weeks ago as he landed his first salmon ever. :) Great advice Sir!
@@billreddochoutdoors5968 Bill I'm all about good tips on fishing or anything outdoors related. Camping? You name it, I've done it.;) I'm as redneck as they come. Hahaha 😂
@@billreddochoutdoors5968 I don't know if you take suggestions for videos? But I'll give you mine for fisherman. I've been salmon and steelhead fishing for over 30 year's and it seems that everybody says to put your rod tip up in the air? Meanwhile a fish that is running away in the river will be pulled to the top of the water and jump to spit hooks. When on a big fish your rod tip should be no more than 8" from the water. Yes this is custom fishing advice but it'll work for any big fish.
@@washburnbilly Great advice! I’ve sent folks when the fish comes out of the water shaking it’s head holler get down, stay down while holding the rod tip high, it seems holding your rod tip low might be a better option. Thanks for your input!
@@billreddochoutdoors5968 Bill, I'm just a nobody but I do know my fishing. ;) If you ever want to swing by and fish I'll take you. I have pretty much everything that you'll need on the river. Rod's, wader's and such. Also a boat so I kinda know what I'm talking about? But from past experiences, people like to talk about fishing but never show up to actually fish? So I'm well capable of putting you on steelhead or salmon in season, but you kinda gotta be here to catch fish? ;) I enjoy nothing more than putting people on fish! I caught my share already so I always give the best spot to who I'm with at the time. Year's ago I met a guy in the river and it took a few years to get to know him. So one time I showed up in the morning to fish I seen this kid laying on the bank because he was upset because he broke his line again. And it was my buddies kid. So I got him all set up again without a bobber and within 15 minutes he hooked and landed his own steelhead! He was 11 at that time and just needed someone else to show him! I've never seen a happier young man after that. I have so many stories Bill! So I'm not blowing smoke over here. Another time my brother caught a bat in the air that bit his fly! I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't there. Tons of stories brother. But getting kid's fishing is number 1! No phone's needed.
