- In this video I take apart the outdrive lower and upper parts on an Alpha One to find the source of a gear oil leak. Gear oil was coming out of the water pump inlet and I knew there had to be a seal leaking if oil is coming out there. I found two seals and I’ll replace both just in case.
I used the serial number on the outdrive to look up part numbers.
THANK YOU. THINK I FOUND MY LEAK NOW. 😬 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Glad I could help
What was your leak?
Yup, me too. Far has no boat this season
pressure and vacuum test before putting the gear oil in. those can suck if the seals dont fix it trying to find a crack.
Thanks for the heads up. You’ve given me a great idea which I’ll reveal in a few months.
What would be wrong if the heat oil was leaking inside the boat?
Your gear oil reservoir or lines are leaking.
Ho do you have a video how do you change that seal thanks
I don’t but you can check this mechanics channel.

Did it work?
I don’t remember. It was too long ago.
@@moccasinmarine ok, thx for the video atleast, not many others have had this issue
@@patrickharlow7724 I think I ended up replacing the seal in the lower gear box. I was in a hurry to get it repaired and back to the customer.
Do you know the part number? I’m having the same issue
So it was the yellow seal below the impeller? I have the same issue. Thats the only place oil can come from and exit out the water intake holes
