Cambridge Students try Soju for the first time!!

- Today we teach Cambridge students how to drink Korean style.
We introduced them to a couple of my favourite anju (food that you have with alcohol) and a few ways to drink beer and Soju!
A big thank you to St John's College for hosting us and letting us film!

Mary is a picky eater but she is very polite, respectful, and willing to try the food without being obnoxious, which makes me like her.
picky but i can relate a bit to the part where she was gagging with seafood. i have a similar difficulty with lamb.

I am the same way, I’ll eat and or try anything, but chorizo, organs, and raw seafood I cannot do. I want to like it so bad but I literally cannot stomach it.
I’m going to miss Natti, Jaeden and Bobby but seeing Armand and Max in Korea again is going to be awesome! (P.S. I think I misspelled multiple names I’m sorry 😬)
I don’t wanna burst anyone’s bubbles but I feel like Natti deserves to join them on this trip.
I dunno, maybe because Armand and Max are the popular duo but I think throughout the entire series of highschool trip, Natti was the most curious and he shows that he’s eager to learn more about the Korean Culture.

As someone who has similar food issues as Mary, she deserves a round of applause. I always feel so bad when I can't eat something. But yeah getting physically sick because your body is just like "nope"...yeah I feel her completely.
Same! I have some pretty strong sensory issues that even have an effect on foods I do like, so it's so hard when you're like I wanna try it so badly but I don't wanna spit your food out
Josh and Ollie are so close to officially adopting Armand and Max and I love that!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to love coming episodes like crazy!!! Really wish the rest of the boys would be here too just like the previous Korea tour!

1. Armand and Max vs Dijinda and

The fact that Armand and Max have a chance to be basically the next generation of Korean Englishman is honestly a beauty. After their uni and maybe a stint of their careers they have an option to fall back on and it’s quite endearing actually.
When I realized Max & Armand were going to travel to sample Korean culture in person, my heart skipped a beat for them. It will be epic!

I don't think not liking fish is 'very fussy'. She described having a genuine aversion, which she said noone believed, and then vomited. That's not being 'fussy'.

@@trucvivianpham9919 My coworker also like Mary, he really cannot digest any sea based food. for him, the combination the texture is a no go... even a dried pan seared seaweed is a no go... but if its a like a dashi/stock it's still fine, because the texture it's just like a soup.

also kudos to mary for soldiering on; i know some folks who decided to use adulthood to try REALLY hard to get out of their comfort zone as picky eaters and finally try new things, so i understand what a big deal it is for her to really make the effort while being as polite as possible.

I am one of those people. Haha. I'm not a picky eater, but I don't eat beef. I can't eat beef. I can stomach a few strands of corned beef but not if it is in chunks. So, when I was in college, one of my cousins cooked beef nilaga (it is a Filipino dish). I was able to down the soup and eat the veggies, but not the meat. I can't, I just can't, no matter how I tried, it won't go down, I can't swallow it. I've already "extracted" the juices of the beef meat, I only just have to swallow it, but it won't, I can't. My cousin was so "angry" and frustrated because she cooked that for me coz I was trying to try new things. Well, I was frustrated too, so frustrated that I actually cried. Lols. That was the first and probably the last time that I'll be trying beef.

just finished my final year at cambridge and hearing the first years talk about its beauty and the fun of people wearing gowns in sainsburys etc. has already made me miss the place! such a wonderful experience and i hope Armand enjoys his time there :))

I agree. I used to be judgemental because I pretty much eat anything but now I realise all you can expect from people is to at least give it a go, which tbf she did. People's tastes change over the years, so it's good to try, but everyone's different.
My youngest child would react the same as her. He once almost threw up in the restaurant because he mistakenly thought my tuna on jacket potato is the ice cream. 😂😂😂

Max is not a Cambridge student. He was only visiting Cambridge at the time of filming this video. He went to Nottingham uni studying Geography.
Witnessing Armand and Max growing up before our eyes makes me feel like a proud parent and it also weirds me out seeing them drinking alcohol now from milkis, also like a parent seeing their child drinking😂

As a korean that grew up in the US in a predominantly white area, I always felts shy and introverted. Korean food and my culture was one of the few things that I could rely on at home to bring me happiness. You have no idea how much I appreciate this channel, the open mindedness of these individuals, and seeing people move out of their comfort zone and try/appreciate a new culture.
I fell in love with these two kids when you took them to Korea while they were in high school. They are truly second generation Korean Englishmen! Their friendship is so much like yours, Josh and Ollie! Can’t wait to watch the rest of this series!

Mary is a trooper! Being very picky with food myself I know that I would probably not like the majority of the food that Korean Englishman offer their guests so I think it was great to see Mary gather enough courage to try something she knew she would probably not like at all.

@@JoeCarswell Note that I wrote that I am a picky eater myself, I didn't write that she was a picky eater. I myself get gag reflexes whenever I eat or smell mushrooms, corn and several other types of food (too many things to write down in a comment).

I think what we are learning as we watch each video is that Mary is really known for not being able to eat new foods and she has really done such an amazing job at trying everything and being respectful about giving it a go. She’s allowed to not feel great about some foods - if a few foods end up being amazing additions to her food options then I reckon it’s worth the risk of one dislike every once in a while! ❤
I know. As a mom of “picky” kids who just really struggle with new tastes and textures, I was so proud of her for giving things a try. That’s hard in the privacy of your own home, much more so on a popular RUclips channel!

@@kimcass4440 my parents always thought I was a "picky" kid until it turned out I had an eating disorder called ARFID 😂. I also really struggle with textures so might be worth reading up on it if you haven't already? I know my mum used to find me really hard to deal with food wise so can only imagine how difficult it must be for you with more than one
@@edgunnn i can second looking into arfid, something i've struggled with since i was a child and i went to a food therapist with my mum which also helped my mum understand it a lot more because sometimes picky eating goes beyond just being "picky"

The brotherly love vibes between Armax is amazing. It's like Josh and Ollie, but opposite character. Ollie is more of the "motherly" (goofie) type (sometimes), while Armand is the "motherly" one.

Mary's reaction to the 'fishy' thing on the food is relatable, especially if you don't encounter it so often. Your body would react before it even register on the brain.
This episode brought me so much joy... I was cracking up for the way Armand had a shot of soju as his control. Very very scientific. Haha. The next thing I knew, I'm laughing my heart out for ArMax cause they'll gonna go back to Korea. I'm so happy for them ❤
The very thought of the Korean Englishmen channel simply turning into a more…generational channel is actually a cool idea. It means more transitions to other people who’ll feel honored to take the helm of the previous owners like from Josh/Ollie (primarily Josh on KE) to Armand and Max as the next hosts and so forth while Josh and Ollie keep doing JOLLY until the very end cause they’ve been holding down that channel since the very beginning of their friendship.
I never dreamed that Josh or Ollie would pass on the baton to someone else, but with how Ollie is raising a daughter, and although I'm not very updated on Josh-Gabie's IVF journey but I hope it will be fruitful, with these things in motion, I guess its logical to train the next generation who would one day continue on their adventures.

Hahahahaha I feel her, I hate fish, since ever, I can't even smell it, I have two kids, when I make salmon (I find it the less smelly fish), I have to prepare myself psychologically as I have to give the example that fish is good so I have to eat at leat a bite pretending I'm finishing my meal before kids as I have things to do 😅😅 kids like it, I don't 😢😢😢😢
@@dadatosu4702 That's interesting, because I've always thought of salmon as the fish with the most intense smell when cooking... but after reading your comment and thinking about it, it has a strong smell sure, but it doesn't smell like fish. Weird.
@@ori-yorudan haha yeah, that's the point, the "fish smell" and the "sea smell", anchovies for example, are my nightmare, kids like it with tomato sauce and pasta, cleaning anchovies leaves the "sea smell" for days in my sink 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 I don't know why but I can't tolerate those smells and tastes, I'm trying but it's hard.
