Can't believe seeing this kid. I lived across the street from Dickey in north Sarasota on the bay, Built a ramp with him for his bicycle, and evidently he lived through it.
Who the heck gave duane betts any dislikes. This is one of the nicest kids playing music today I don't understand who the heck would even think of doing that
Sometimes RUclips puts the two thumbs so close to each other I end up hitting the down button. I quickly hit the up after that happens but often wonder if it was recorded as a down…
Seems like a genuinely humble & articulate young man . He has some pretty big shoes to fill but give the kid a break and don’t pigeonhole him. And he sure sounds like his dad ! I’ve been a fan of the Bro’s since Idlewild South.
He is a GREAT PLAYER! Really enjoy Allman BettsBand. Duane’s modest and has an amazing future ahead. Due to his years in and around the business Duane knows how to fit perfectly into the confines of a band and showcase his ability. I hope he and Devon are committed to years of playing and building their own Legacy.
Ive so much respect for the allman brothers band and dickie Betts is right up there with Clapton and Hendrix his style is unique and unforgettable I’ve been a fan since the 70s and will continue to be so dickie and the allman bros band are as American as apple pie and I love them and it’s good to hear dickie is gigging.
Wait... Duane Betts... and Devin Allman... holy smokes I gotta go see these guys. Dicky, Duane and Greg made the soundtrack of my youth 50 years ago. Many amazing memories. Good vibes always. The OG Allman Bros made some of the best music of all time. To see their progeny thrive is wonderful! Thanks to NormansRareGuitars for this great interview. God bless all y'all.
Great interview Norm wow , Duanes playing brought back memories of sitting in the Fillmore East for the saturday night midnight show ( Albert King , J Giles Band and the Allman Brothers Band )where they recorded the amazing Allman Brothers Band Live and the Fillmore. His dad along with Duane Allman ,Greg Allman and the band also with 2 drummers... so amazing I was blown away. I was just a young dude then but the memory has lasted a lifetime. Im sure Duane Betts will have a huge future making music for us to groove on to making the new cherished memories ... cant wait to see him and his band.
He reminds me so much of Dickie .. His mannerism are identical. The way he scratches the side of his face... Proud he's coming into his own. I know he wants to be his own musician /person & that's great just remember to throw us old asses an Allman Brothers bone every now & then! ✌🏻 ♡
RC ANDERSON Used to be. His phrasing is, even if they don't know it, locked into every American guitar player's DNA. Drugs flattened his ability to turn hooks inside out
I'm not defending drugs he 75 years old. You lose a lot of ability as you get older I know LOL. There are many reasons for it. Drugs are the least. You lose your motor skills. Long live sex drugs and rock and roll.
Nice. I just listened to Bougainvillea. God Bless All you guys and the Great Allman Brothers Band! I grew up with them and got sober on their music in the early 90's.
I played with a band that opened for Dickie Betts at (The Coach House southern Ca) I had a chance to speak with Duane and the band outside during sound checks early in the day. He's a really nice young player, friendly and down to earth. It was a pleasure to open for Dickey and to meet his son. Play on brother Los Angeles
The Allman Brothers are still one of the most iconic classic Southern Rock bands ever, they're such a great band. Also isn't Duane in that band Dawes, I think?
Its fantastic to see the younger generation of such great musicians following the older influences of parents. I live in Lakeland Fla i hope i can see you live someplace!
hats off to this man can hear and i hear a lot of almond in his guitar and man that's cool can't wait to hear some more and i am sure i will i see a light
That was so good!, Dicky Betts´Son! his dad was the most amazing mellodic guitar players ever, such amazing ear for rythm and mellody (rumbling man anyone?). I wish him all the best, keep that name alive. Cool dude
Man, he sounds and looks very much like his pops. Not a big Brothers fan but I think Dickey Betts is a very underrated guitar player unless you are a Allman Brothers fan, his solos were very melodic and Duane was probably the best slide player there ever was.
Norm sells rare, vintage guitars. He just mentioned casually what was off about the guitar once it was converted back to a conventional Strat. That's what he's expected to do. He certainly wasn't being critical.
Probably all Strats of this age have been modified at some stage . In 1970 no one knew that Clapton's Strats , which were modified by the way , would sell for over a million .
You can tell when a guitar dealer talk because its about $$$$$$ Norm never misses the opportunity to show off his all omnipotent knowledge about everything on someone else guitar Instead of saying “Wow its cool you have your dads bitchin strat “ Be immediately points out whats not original Douche
Your the man Norman!! Thanks for the information on the hardtail stratocaster.. BEAUTIFUL guitar 🎸 didn't realise that they made them that way in 1954 /1955.. Very nice!! You are a fountain ⛲ of knowledge
Your Dad came to my house 1 time with the Poindexter’s he was playing music with back in the late 70s. Unfortunately he didn’t come out of the bus cause he’d been up all night playing cards. But we did get them perform in Chapel Hill,? NCBest guitarist in the world!!!!❤
Norm you mentioned Bobby Caldwell who I take it is the same great singer that recorded "What You Won't Do For Love" in I think 1979... That song, the first time I heard it I shot right down to the local record store and bought the album...! Still, to this day, one of my all time favorite songs...!
Your dad Dicky bits was the one that made that van sound good but the way he picked and played Gregg Allman Come on that organ and piano awesome what a crew
Great Video Norm and company, it's almost as if you had me in mind specifically, as that specific somewhat affordable version of that sold 59 reworked les paul stuck in my mind a lot more then most guitars you guys have featured recently. I do love the amazing big band feel of the Allman Brothers, even decades later today it's a hell of a show to behold with Dereck Trucks, outside of Creedance's Clearwater Revival Americana music itself almost has never been done better. Yet even more I really, really, really love a ash bodied hard tail Stratocaster!...I've got a magical 1999 American Standard delta tone version which I've held dearly for coming up on 20 years soon, and it still sounds so much better, them my more recent hardtail acquisition 2015 Longboard Stratocaster. No doubt a early example from the mid 50's would be all that and a bottomless bag of chips more...8)
The entire world owes Dickey Betts a handshake and a thank you. A sincere thank you.
Amen
That’s a fact
That stutter step lick of his is one of my favorite ones of all time.
Ive seen Duane play live twice. Looks so much like his dad its crazy.
Can't believe seeing this kid. I lived across the street from Dickey in north Sarasota on the bay, Built a ramp with him for his bicycle, and evidently he lived through it.
Who the heck gave duane betts any dislikes. This is one of the nicest kids playing music today I don't understand who the heck would even think of doing that
It's probably for Norm. He's a bit of an idiot.

Nice playing. Same licks and the use of the scale like his dad. Love it. Best of luck young man. Your dad is one of my favorite players.
Duane Betts seems like fine, humble young man. Not easy with that name.
Certainly more likable than that darn Dickie Allman is.
Been booking bands for many years but the joy of meeting people like Duane made my 2018.
He and his sisters are all quality human beings
Rock and Roll royalty but seems humble and looking to make his own way.
Hes a great guy
Duane is very talented and I have been lucky to have watched him perform many times and met his Dad at a show once. Keep Rockin!
Good to hear Dickey's doing well. A legend.
It' a beautiful thing to see Dickie's boy carrying on the family name.
Mr. G. Dickey
I have gotten to hang out with Duane ...he is a great son ..and he is worthy of both names and his Dad's legacy !!!
Ever since I saw the video of The Allman Brothers playing Blue Sky with Jack Pearson I’ve been in love with that strat
The Allman Brothers - THE BEST LIVE BAND EVER! Keep the legacy going, Duane!
Ever heard of a little bar band called the Grateful Dead?
3 Card Monty not a chance cream were the best by a mile
Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac, Bon Scott era AC/DC
Love the Bros but they ain't got nothing on the Good Ole Grateful Dead
Fact. Dead could hang but weren't on quite the same level. No need to bring up any other band
So glad he's keeping the legacy going. Rock on man!
He is a GREAT PLAYER! Really enjoy Allman BettsBand. Duane’s modest and has an amazing future ahead. Due to his years in and around the business Duane knows how to fit perfectly into the confines of a band and showcase his ability.

Amen, bro. Duane and Devon have what it takes to be stars in their own right.
Duane, your daddy played in the Allmans with my dear old friend, Berry Oakley, may he rest in peace. Keep the flame burning young man!
wait but did dickey name him in honor of duane allman? or is that a popular southern name lol
@@leahflower9924 He is named after Duane Allman
Wasn't Mr. Oakley their drummer?

R.I.P. Dickey Betts! He was a true master. Duane seems like a very humble cat.
Keep it going Duane Betts...and Devon....we need it now more than ever...for the luv of music!! Ya man!....
Dickey Betts will always be the number 1 guitarist to me.
Awesome to see his Son play
Wishing Duane Betts all the best!
ALLMAN BROS BAND. FILLMORE EAST. BEST LIVE RECORDING EVER !
Puff...la mejor grabacion en vivo.que delicia.que orgasmos..lo escucho muy a menudo.
Strat tone is just right. Long live your music and good for Norm to introduce your stuff.
Duane seems so levelheaded and such a nice guy!!!!!! Very happy for him!!!

I’ve never seen an interview w Duane. Seems like a cool, well grounded young dude.
Duane Betts wow what a name.
He will spend the rest of his life explaining it to audiences who don't know.
Nice problem to have.
Guitar ocd and also a sad reflection on those who don't know!

I hear that sweet southern sound that hits you right in the gut coming from those licks.
Good luck to you kid.
It's GREAT TO SEE THESE KIDS OF THE OLD ROCKERS ARE CARRYING ON THE TORCH!!
These old 50s' or 60s' les paul headstocks are the best. Let's don't talk about the LP itself 😍😍😍
Rest in peace Dickey. What a hell of a player and songwriter
Saw him live in Indiana before they ventured to Europe this year. They are keeping the name alive and definitely deserve some respect.
I'd take that Strat! Love the hardtails. I wouldn't care one bit, if the pickup covers and the pickgaurd aren't stock. Wouldn't bother me at all!👍😎🎸🎶

Look at 8:53 lmao..that guy nearly trips over the guitar stand. Imagine all of the guitars falling over like dominos😂.
I saw that and WINCED hard! Hahahahah !
would have only put the prices up for more "authentic" age....
Can't wait to see Duane in October. Allman Betts Band, these guys rock. Glad to hear Dickey is doing well. Wish him well.

What a cool guy. His dad is one of my all time guitar hero’s.
Wow, he plays with amazing nuance and timing. Special player.
Saw Devon and Duane 2 nights ago, Great Show! Duane was playing that Strat. Hey Norm ask the question and LET HIM ANSWER!
He's really bad for it. Keeps interrupting

Wrong pick guard, wrong saddles, wrong covers? C'mon Norm , it's a Strat that sounds and plays great! Not perfect vintage, But a Strat, none the less!

Caught Devon and Duane at West Hampton Beach NY awhile ago. Great show!
Nice! I saw Dickey play that strat on July 4, 1997 at the Georgia International Horse Park show in Conyers Georgia!
When did the Allman Bros become the "Almond Bros"??????
right after they changed their name from The 3 Musketeers
Sounds like he says ahmen
Scotts man when they changed their name from the Almond Joy. Back then they used to call Dickie Betts " Butter Fingers "
almond joy or mounds? wtf ?
That's my band! The Almond Bros
Dickey is one of my favorite guitarist.
I live in Macon Georgia and we just had an all blues festival here with Bettye Lavette and Larry McCray. Good stuff

Good looking kid, Dickey you did great. This why I play with RUclips, listen to him play, went to I-Tune and picked up his new releases.
Duane & Dickey we saw in GW Holiday 2005 issue. Great sound.
Those guitars in the shop are rare everywhere else in the world except for in that shop. Norm's got 'em everywhere!
Man, the Fender has so much character.
Would love to play that.
Thanks Norman great interview the the son of one of the brother.

This was one of my favorite Norman's videos. Very interesting. I had no idea Daune and Blake Mills were childhood friends. Very cool.
