You know how many nights an Allman and a Betts have stood there and played along side each other? And it's absolutely magical that it's happening again, for an entire nother generation 🙏❤️❤️❤️
That "box" that Duane is talking about is called the "Dicky Betts Pentatonic" scale by some players. I learned it in 1971 off the At Fillmore East album. It has served me well. Duane Allman and Dicky Betts both had a great sense of melody. Duane was more up and down the neck. Dicky used that box idea alot. Duane knew these two styles would work together. Somehow. Thanks to Devon and Duane for making this video. Also cool to get a look at Duane's Firebird.
After seeing these two men live, it's really nice to hear their thoughts on playing and how they learned themselves. Each of them are great guitarists and it's amazing to see them both live after having seen each of their dads play live as well. The new generation!
One is named after Duane. One looks like Duane. Their Fathers may have had a few personal differences over the years yet they can sit here making beautiful music. Allman Brothers and Sons.
@@CraneFast I think he is referring to Gregg. Duane and DIckey didn't have personal differences that anyone knows of and over the years would imply Gregg because Duane died so young. And we know that Gregg and Dickey had their differences.
They say bands are successful when their members click. These two couldn’t click any closer to one another. They’re awesome! I hope you gave them those guitars they love so much.
Duane's solo starting at 1:06 is so dirty. Crazy syncopation. Coming in on the and of 1 of the 2nd bar of his chorus. Guns a' blazin'. I've been listening to him since 2003, and he's hands down one of my all time favorites, and I've seen/listened to so many of the greats. Both known and unknown. Something about his playing hits me deep (from the very first time I heard him). He's a great guy too. Dickey's influence obviously shines through, but Duane is grittier, more rock n' roll, and definitely his own man as a player. I love Dickey, but don't get the same reaction/feeling to his playing as I do Duane's. Not saying one is better than the other. Just that each has a distinct feel. If you want another comparison, Mick Taylor (except Duane doesn't play slide). They definitely have a similar tone. Duane's tone is nuts, but to really get a true sense of it, you have to hear him live w/ the gold top (what is it about Les Paul guitars' tone?). Please, go see him live if you get the chance.
Devon is the rhythm, Duane clearly the lead. Love how they mesh. Berry can play bass and lead. They certainly have any number of guitars available to them. Duane played Duane’s guitar over New Year’s weekend!
All that's left is to have Derick Trucks playing like "Skydog" reincarnated with Betts playing duo lead!! But Derick&wife Susan have a Gr8 band goin on too... It's all good !
I LOVE IT!!! OMG!! TO SEE DICKEY @ GREGGS SONS PLAYING TOGETHER WAS @ IS RIGHTEOUS FOR ME! You Guys KEEP IT UP! ONE TIME I WAS GLAD FOR THESE INTRUSIVE APPS THAT SEND WHAT YOUR INTREST ARE . IT JUS POPPED UP LOL DUANE, @ DEVON YOU GUYS ROCK !
Those amps are putting out the right stuff. Todd Sharp, eh. Going shopping. Righteous jamming by both of the guys, genetics and work ethics are strong with them.
Devon looks exactly like his Uncle Duane - spooky!!! Duane looks like his dad and BOTH of those awesome boys are channeling the late great Duane "Sky Dog" Allman! What amazing history made right in front of us💚💙💜
Idk if they indulge but only difference is, the expressions or life experiences poured in the music. That is the difference I hear otherwise I love it.
And Allman & Oakley are straight up ‘the shit’!!! For whatever it’s worth personally I’m loving the ABB. Being older The Brothers are IT ♾🍑☮️ So ABB back on the road asap and kick ass for me!
I like em. But I'm gonna say straight out they aren't savants..if that's the case so am I and about 25 other blues players that I know personally and see play out locally nightly
Greggs son looks alot like him...with his hair long. He also has another son that lives in florida he only sings and sounds similar to Gregg. But he never was acknowledged bt Gregg. Him and his mom were left by Gregg and they were dirt poor. There is videi footage of him on youtube somewhere.
Ok so you guys know enough about playing guitar to be able to give expert opinions on how well someone plays after just a couple of minutes of listening?

Duanne looks like a young JT “mudslide slim”. Looking forward to more collaborations from these two. Thanks for sharing this.
This is so awesome. Passing the torch. Really cool.
First time hearing either of these two speak. Musically intelligent young men. Gives me proof the Road WILL go on forever!

Duane looks so much like Dickey, it's amazing.
He really does.
Yeah, he looks like Dickey did what I first met Dickey in 1968. I’ve known Duane since he was like 12 or 13.
My first thought too
I never knew Duane had a Firebird ! Excellent jamming guys ! Looking forward to seeing the Allman Betts Band

Just to clarify, that is not Duane Allman's son. It is Gregg Allman's son.

4:02 "coming from a bit of a blues background" is what we call 'humor by understatement'
2 of my favorite people on this entire planet! 🙏❤️🎸👌
These apples did not fall far from the tree. Awesome to see their chemistry just like their dad's.
Awesome jam!! So glad to see Devon & Duane, creating Music together. Very cool!! 🎸🎸🤘🤘🎸🎸
They just recorded an album in Muscle Shoals. Will be touring next year Allman Betts Band
Both very fine players, indeed...but man, those amps are killer...fantastic sounds coming out of those!
Heb het genoegen gehad om "de zonen van"live aan het werk te zien. Was geweldig, jullie doen jullie vaders alle eer aan.
Thanks so much for the comments you’re such amazing 😉, Kindly drop me your hangout just to get in touch with you 💯❤️
Let's be honest-Devon's pure class. If you've seen him live you'll know that anyway
Yep. They did a damn fine job raising him. Even with being on the road as much as Gregg was. But his mother was part of that, also. 🙏
Oh man, that is so cool! I loved the video of Jack Pearson playing this guitar too. I've watched that one a few times now.
Super Grate Stuff, glad i saw it
Keep rocking gentlemen...keep rocking
Young Duane has his father's gift of making that guitar sing, not overplaying
I have a 67 firebird 12 string can't play like these guys but would love to hear someone play it like it should be played!

I see a lot of uncle Duane in Devon.
You might see some of Duane in Devon but you can't hear much.
@@larrygeetar9309 Rigghhht....because you can tell that from an 8 minute video.
A lot of family resemblance between Dicky and Duane Betts too.
I CANT GET ENOUGH!!

Anyone else notice the Layla tattoo on Devons arm?
I think its cool that Dickey named his son Duane! Actually, all the second generation Allman kids have cool names--Devon, Derek, Layla!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year lol Marilee

Check out Devon's "Layla" tat.
'Internet astounded that sons look like their fathers' 😂
Damn, Duane has that villain chin going for him
Lol
I hope they take over the friggin world
Damn, they look just like their dads!
No, Devon ALlman looks just like his Uncle Duane. Especially when he is on stage playing guitar and really getting into it.
I wonder if Devon was as cute as Gregg when he was young.
I think Devon looks like his dad (Gregg). A little heavier, and shorter hair.
@@paulfrombrooklyn5409 Devon looks like his uncle but heavier.
Devon looks and even sounds like his uncle
Fuckin’ Sweeeeeeet!🤘😬
I suspected but am now sure........they all have savant musical skills.
do you know what savant means?.... haha.
I like em. But I'm gonna say straight out they aren't savants..if that's the case so am I and about 25 other blues players that I know personally and see play out locally nightly

Sorry but that Strat kicked that Firebirds ass. That Strat is tasty AF!
Is that a guitar store , or is it someone's house
1/2 a loaf!
Todd Sharp ad...
I’m pretty sure a piece of Duane Altman’s
Soul lives in every guitar he ever played
It scary how much Devon sounds like his uncle when he talks
Appleseed said balls to walls guys
Devon wears a sword pendent???did he give it to Samantha Fish ??????????

aah no!
Does either of these two know how to play rhythm guitar?
Astonishing levels of mediocrity.
Christopher Melton where did either of them profess to be anything other than mediocre?🤔
Ok so you guys know enough about playing guitar to be able to give expert opinions on how well someone plays after just a couple of minutes of listening?
I guess you missed the part where Devon said he had only been playing lead since he hit his 30s.
larry geetar they're prepping up for a world tour, what are you doing?
These guys ain’t their dads talent…sorry.
