  • Removing the Head from a 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5s in fast motion
Welcome to my tutorial on how to remove the head on a 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5s. In this video, I will walk you through the steps to remove the head from your Altima's engine, including the tools and precautions you will need to take.
To begin, you will need a few tools, including a socket set, torque wrench, and gasket scraper. You will also need a new head gasket and head bolts, as well as a coolant drain pan and some rags to clean up any spills.
Before you start, it's important to make sure your Altima is cool and the engine is off. You should also disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any accidental electrical fires.
Next, you will need to remove the radiator and drain the coolant. Be sure to catch the coolant in the drain pan and dispose of it properly. You should also remove the timing belt or chain, depending on your Altima's engine type.
Once these steps are completed, you can begin removing the head. Start by removing the rocker arm assembly and any other components that may be blocking access to the head bolts. Then, use your socket set to loosen and remove the head bolts. Once all the bolts are removed, gently lift the head off the engine block.
With the head removed, you can clean up any gasket material that may be left on the engine block and head. You can then install the new head gasket and head, using your torque wrench to ensure the bolts are tightened to the proper torque specifications.
Finally, refill the coolant and reattach the radiator and any other components you removed earlier. Start the engine and check for any leaks or issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to remove the head on your 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5s in just over 55 minutes. As always, if you are not comfortable performing this task, it is best to seek the assistance of a professional mechanic.
    Side Note:
This has to be the worst engine made by Nissan. I've went through 2 of these engines and each one blew at around the same millage, 70,000!!!!

How did you get the lower intake off the studs and out of the engine bay? I've disconnected all the brackets on the backside, but it's still wedged.

I finally decided to get rid of that car and move on, so sorry, I wished I could help you more. I would have to say that it is one of the worst engines I have ever had. Blew 2 of them at or around 72,000 - 75,000 miles. Just a heads up
