- Time lapsed Northern Lights with "Eivør Pálsdóttir- Den liuse dag for".
Folklore:
The Valkyrie (valkyrja) are warlike virgins, mounted upon flying horses and armed with helmets and spears. They choose amongst the slain who comes to Valhalla and become the einherjare to serve Odin and the other Æsir and Vanir (gods from Asgard). When they ride forth on their errand, their armour sheds a strange flickering light, which flashes up over the northern skies, making what men call the "aurora borealis", or "Northern Lights".
Thank you all for liking my music. xxx Eivor
This song is beautiful, magnificent! :D
Your voice touches my soul
you amazing..... incredible voice*****
You are so amazing! One of the most underrated artists out there. Original, classy, and talented. Thank you for being part of the world.
Eivor please sing this again :(
I remember when I was little and I was up in the Norwegian mountains skiing a late evening and we met this lovely woman who we talked to for a really long time and a while into the chat the Northern-Lights just bursted out putting the sky on fire with the most magical colours and movements. The woman started to sing a song similar to this and afterwards she told us it was about a man that had lost his wife in the same mountains we where skiing in and that he was so sad and when he started crying and shouting her name the Northern-Lights appeared. He suddenly saw his wife in between the lights an he started waving at her and he then started to rise up in the sky and he then got trapped disappeared together with the lights.... Ever since that night I have believed that this woman we met is Huldra and I have never dared to wave at the Green lights^^
+Håkon Mo Flataker thanks so much for passing on this story!! :))
What a privilege. Hēla Weda
Wow sounds amazing... thankyou so much for sharing your beautiful memory:) where in Norway were you?
Ah, but you wouldn't be able to enjoy such hauntingly gorgeous music as this at the click of a mouse button if you went back even 15 years. It's so easy now to explore the world's cultures, and appreciate the unique beauty of each... personally, there's no age I'd rather be living in than the present one!
She is amazing - with or without her drum!
This goes straight to my soul. I believe that we have lost something big, and that some of it remains in this music.

Not only your nation was forced to change religion. Ask the little cultures of whole Europe.... but it was the only way to survive back then. Let's be happy that the old religions survived in memory and did not get lost, so today foreign nations even learn about them :)
Greetings: a Hungarian :p

Cool story bro.

You have no idea what MY ancestors went through. There's a difference between Norwegians, Danes, Swedish, and Icelandic peoples. They're not all the same exact country and they are definitely different people with a different past.
she is noth from the countries you mentioned
Tað eitur Norðurlýs, ikki Norðurljós :)
Northen Light is the wall the gods builded to protect midgård (middle earth)
Tak
@sixinafour Please drop the prejudice.
We don`t need to separate from something else to honor something.
Pride without fear.
I was there...... so were my people.
@FrischluftMetaler The full title of the song is "Den liusa dag forgangen er" (The bright day has passed), a psalm written in 1588 by a Danish priest named Hans Christensen Sthen.
As far as I know, it hasn't been published on any CD, the soundtrack must have been copied from this video:

Quelle voix sidérante.
I agree
@pyd1948
Thank you so much for the answer :)!
i love eivør... and i just figured out how to type: øøøøøø. how do you pronounce her name?
What's the song name, please?? And where I can find?
@sixinafour that was in every way uncalled for.
seriously wtf?!
May Odin bless Skandinavia!!!
I just want to point out that she's actually singing something biblical/christian: "Den liusa dag forgangen er" (The bright day has passed), a psalm written in 1588 by a Danish priest named Hans Christensen Sthen." (comment by: pyd1948) so I see where you could get the idea that she's singing about something that would perhaps closely resemble the way people 1000 yrs ago would sing, but at the same time the content of what she's singing is anything but pagan. Sorry about the run on sentences :P
oh my lord !
It's faroese ;) close but not quite Icelandic.. Icelandic myself and can understand a bit cause the languages are so similar :)
what a fucking voice!
What is this from? It's not on any of her albums is it?
No, it's not. She made it for this NatGeo special.
Where can i get the Album with this Track on it?!
And whats the Name of the Album?! =)
@Svanborg Signý Jóhannesdóttir Eivør is faroese but the song is norweigan?
what does muslim faith have anything to do with the Northern Lights???????
All our ancestors did wrong but is it really the subject to discuss here?
ei is pronounced I in English so it´s Ivør in your tongue, if you´re English :P
I dont believe in any relegion...just in the mighty force of nature...
Seven very argr people downvoted this!
Lel, skandinavlingar? Skandinaver, menar du?
You are obviously not really knowledgeable on the conversion. In most of Scandinavia it was fairly peaceful. At least we have no signs of violent conversion. We have some sources indicating parts of Norway being forcefully converted, but by all accounts most of Scandinavia became Christian rather peacefully, and most likely gradually over time, from the 700s (Earliest Christian graves in Denmark) and until the end of the 900s (Jelling stone proclaiming we are Christians around 960).

as long as islam does not pick up the slack, i think humanity might have a future
@sixinafour WHAT in the world is wrong with you that you must inject your bigotry and chavinism?
lort
Kinda boring !!!
