      That walk had everything I tell you and made for an unforgettable experience. It definitely was genuinely scary for 30 minutes up there but it all turned ok in the end. Thanks for watching it's much appreciated.

    Wow I take my hat off to you! I used to be adventurous but now with a rotten knee I cant go far. That was pretty brave in that weather, I too would have been afraid a gust would sweep me off the cliff! I'm obsessed with Shetland & of course it's the Up Helly Aa on Tuesday, live streamed! Enjoyable video Dodger.

      Nice to hear from you again. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video. I really appreciate you watching and taking time to comment. I did find the Shetland webcams. I couldn't believe how many there were. I will be tuning in after sunset on the 29th.

    Well done for achieving that walk. The view of the lighthouse and the rock was tremendous and vey interesting. You were very courageous in those weather conditions. Like you rendition of Go Lassie Go.

      It was a wonderful experience. Looking back I now wished I'd kept the camera switched on for the struggle that was the walk back. In reality I was really worried, I'd lost my way and was seriously struggling with exhaustion. Thanks again for watching my videos. By the way that it the first time I've ever been complimented on my 'singing'. Do you know the song as "Go Lassie Go"? I'm only familar with it from Rod Stewart and his version is titled "Purple Heather".

      Thank you for your reply. It must have been a very scary experience, but the views were magnificent. We do know Will You Go Lassie Go. It's also known as Wild Mountain Thyme which again we have uploaded to RUclips.

      Thanks for that. I was wracking my brains last night as I knew there was another title but it wouldn't come to me.

    I had a similar experience on the Hams of Muckle Roe this year. Scary but it was worth every minut. Hope to visit the Shetland Islands again for a third time...

      It makes it all the better experience in a weird way. I'll have to google Hams of Muckle Roe. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.

    I built that shelter, it has a hole in the roof to reduce the chance of it being blown away

      Really interesting comment John. Of course I realised there was no roof in that section but from what you have told me it all makes sense now. Thanks.

    Isn't the Faroe Islands due North?

    • @DodgersTrips
      @DodgersTrips  2 месяца назад

      Hi Glen, the Faroe Islands are off to the northwest midway between Shetland and Iceland. They are a territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. I hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and taking time to post your comment.

      The weather made the experience what it was but the bit that didn't get filmed was worrying being out there on my own, no phone signal etc. and not sure of the way back. There'll be plenty more for you to enjoy no doubt. Thanks for watching.

      @@DodgersTrips what vlogging camera do you use I want one but have no idea what to buy something not expensive

    • @DodgersTrips
      @DodgersTrips  Год назад +1

      Hi, good to hear from you again. The camera I use is a GoPro Hero 11 Black. It wasn't cheap but I splashed out because it was a retirement gift to myself. If I remember it was around £350. There is an unboxing video from December 2022 on my channel. You can get earlier versions of the GoPro that are cheaper and I watch people who use them and the results are good. Before that I used an old camcorder which is a cheap option but the stabilisation is not great which is why I went for the GoPro. You can also check on Amazon as there are cheaper alternatives to Go Pro but do everything they do. You would have to read the reviews to see if they're any good. A lot of people use their phones, filming in landscape, for vlogging. That might be a good option. Whatever you choose just remember to have fun.

      Very wild but that's what ended up making the experience so memorable. I don't think it would have been the same in bright sunshine.

      Wow, never been a prophet! I've literally just changed the title too. Oh well it was nice to be a prophet even for a short while. Good to hear from you again. Thanks for watching.
