- These are the Shetland Islands. A unique collection of islands nestled far north of the United Kingdom. Geographically closer to Norway than they are to Edinburgh, these islands are teeming with wildlife, history and unique experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime. This video takes you along a roadtrip to the Shetland islands. As we explore Shetland in our campervan/motorhome, exploring the best beaches, wildlife and adventure in Shetland.
From its bright white beaches to its famously small horses, to epic coastline alive with wildlife like puffins, gannets, kittiwakes and fulmars or it's neolithic ruins and viking settlements, if you're looking for an adventure, then look no further than Shetland
If you're new round here - we're Jack and Jo, that's our scruffy hitch-hiker Frank, and this is Big P, our home on wheels that is taking us to wild places all over the UK & Europe
If you like the sound of this adventure - then come along with us on These Wild Journeys through the Shetland Islands.

I think the British Isles. Have same of the most breath taking views in the world. We don't appreciate the beauty of our islands enough in the UK. Love your videos
100% Well said! I genuinely think the UK is one of the most beautiful places we've traveled to!
(Apologies for the delayed response - turns out RUclips had hidden all of the comments on Shetland and not notified me!)
There are lots of vlogs about the Shetland Islands but none made with such enthusiasm and love as this one. Well done.
Thanks so much! It was a dream of trip! 👌
I LOVED your video.... I was in Shetland in July /23 it was EPIC!!! So many of the same places I visited. Thank you for bringing me back again!!!!
Thanks Sheila! It's such a beautiful place isn't it, SO much wildlife and nature and a real distinctness to it!
Outstanding awesome beautiful journey, adventure, culture and scenery, very much enjoyed, all the very best, health and happiness.
Ahh thank you! Shetland is a beautiful place to visit!
I love that. I remember my time
Great place!
Great videos Booked for Shetland in August. Got a dog kennel
Nice! Enjoy!
Thank you
Hello - Appreciate these videos (especially of Scotland). Thanks so much. Slainte & Cheers!
Thanks for watching Jane! More Scotland videos to follow soon ✌️!
@@TheseWildJourneys Welcome 😊
I'm glad that you enjoyed your adventure here in my homeland and yes, our weather is very varied.
Loved Shetland, and varied weather is what keeps life and the outdoors interesting!
Loved the video (will be in Shetland in June)! And the music snippets were great -- what are they from?
Awesome! hope you have/had fun in Shetland, what a place! We use Epidemic sound for music, couldn't tell you the names of the artists, but it means we can use music and monetise our vids :)!
I am watching now. Nice video. Brings back memories when I went 5 years ago for my 40th looking for Orcas. I also went to Orkney last august and skye. Another awesome holiday. Glencoe was nice in 2021 as well. St ninians beach. Did you guys spell it right tho? X wish we could go Scotland again but we've havd border terrier pups they are 8 weeks this week so can't go anywhere yet.
Did you manage to see Orcas? It's on our bucket list! No joy in Orkney either. But just means we'll have to go back again! Hope the Border pups aren't causing too much trouble now, Frank was quite mischievous at that age!

😂the names though!Wow! This is amazing! Just wondering how 1K views and no comments. This is beautiful! Well done👍👍👍😊
Haha - so many wonderfully quirky names in Shetland and throughout the UK! Thanks for commenting :)!
(Apologies for the delayed response - turns out RUclips had hidden all of the comments on Shetland and not notified me!)
As always guys, plenty of notes taken for my trip, plus how long were you actually on Shetland for before going to the Orkneys?
On my to do list 😊
Nice! 🙌
Excellent video. I would love to go there sometime.
Thank you! And we'd 100% recommend, it was an awesome week or so spent in Shetland!
Just got back home from 5 weeks on Unst its an amazing place, i visit twice a year,,heading back up in September when you can see the aurora Borealis most nights
We're heading to Scotland for the winter with that same aim - it would be amazing to see the Aurora on UK turf!

Lovely video, makes me want to visit. Is that a Parson Russell terrier?
Thanks! Frank is a Border Terrier - great dogs!
❤❤❤
Just watched your video - fabulous. Thank you for sharing. Can you tell me what month you were there? We are planning a trip in our motorhome next spring/summer. Will carry on and watch your other videos!
Thanks for watching Lizzie! We went over mid-May, it was a good time to visit I think, although classically a few weeks after that (in June) the Orcas returned and Shetland had some gorgeous sunny weather too, so maybe that would also be a good time to go!
Hi guys, great video, how was Frank on the ferry? Did you have a cabin please with him?
Hi! We had a pet cabin, he was fine and comfy, we took his bed on, but he ended up in one of our beds 🤫!
The ferry are super strict about where the dogs can go, and they can't go anywhere else apart from the cabins and the outdoor deck, which the cabins are next to. If you don't get a cabin, the kennels are right by the exercise deck, we didn't see what they were like inside though, but I think you can visit them whenever you want? (Although I'd double check on the website!) Hope that helps ✌️
@@TheseWildJourneys Brilliant thank you, we will only go if we can get a cabin really don't fancy using the kennels, I'll get booking! Loved the Scotland videos thank you...
Enjoy! We booked our ferry about a month or so in advance - hope you manage to get a cabin and can go, it's a really incredible place!
@@TheseWildJourneys we are booked 😁 and managed to get a pet cabin (big relief) very much looking forward to it after your video.. 😊
@@boris_and_gracie_go_wild4660 amaazing! Hope you get some good weather, and let us know if you see any Orcas! It's one thing we missed out on - the pod didn't arrive until a few days after we left! 😭
Please, in what month and how much days have you spended in Shetland? Thank you
Hello! We visited at the end of May, and spent a week in total traveling Shetland. We could have stayed for longer, plenty of things to do and see!
I think you are well aware that a week is nowhere near long enough for Shetland. Nice video though.
I think you're right! Not least because as soon as we left, the orcas returned!
Brilliant video, thank you. Loved Frank even more !! We are planning to go there in two weeks. How close to Muckle Flugga can we park with a 7.5 meter Motor home?
David - huge apologies we didn't get back to you! We parked in the car park for Muckle Flugga, it's about an hour or so walk, but worth it for the views, hope you enjoyed your time in Shetland if you've already been!
(Apologies for the delayed response - turns out RUclips had hidden all of the comments on Shetland and not notified me!)
Thank you for your reply. We got to Muckle Flugga. This was my North Pole ! It was a hard walk, I cant walk long distance but I was so determined! Our 100kg dog pulled me up the steepest bits and it was so worth it , Unfortunately I came down quicker than I went up! I tripped on the last step and hit my face on the first step going up the other way. My wife took a picture as I lay there stunned and bleeding. The dog was not concerned either but apparently i had a sheep audience! My face has healed but I need phisiotherapy on my shoulde !! A Great trip ( no pun intended!) We would reccomend Shetland to anyone loving nature,@@TheseWildJourneys
Did you see any Shetland Sheepdogs on Shetland Island?
Omg! No! Never heard of them before - but they look adorable 😍!
I think you’ll find your last place to visit was Eshaness not Hermaness
You are correct! (And it is now corrected 👌 - cheers!)
