Vigilance is a vastly underrated ability, since it lets you go to combat without leaving yourself open. Having it on Akiri makes her frighteningly strong, especially paired with first strike. Love the deck!
I love the video so much! I didn't say hi (You looked busy) , but if your reading this i saw you at GP Portland and wanted to say thank you for being the best MTG RUclips content creator hands down!
I've recently noticed a game mechanic that can lock out enemy commanders from the game. First use a card, like Reality Ripple, to phase out the commander. And have a method, like Sands of Time, to skip the untap step. Because phasing does not cause permanents to change zones opponents can't choose to send their commander to the command zone to rescue them. Since phasing is tied to the untap step skipping that phase stops permanents from phasing out or back in to play.
OH man! I saw this deck in action on Extra Turns and i really wanna build it. Specially since i have most of these cards and could never fit them in a deck that would leave me satisfied. Ty DJ! I really like your content!! :D :D
Holy moly, I'm in love with this deck! Eldrazi displacer is one of my favorite cards, and I never even considered the combos with KCI and artifact token producers!
Starting work on an Akiri and Sidar Kondo deck, going to try and focus on artifact creature tokens so that both commanders are putting in work. This deck tech has some great inspiration in it, so thanks! Love what you do DJ, keep being great!
DECK TECH: you COULD throw a prying blade into this deck considering the equipment theme with prying blade being a 1 mana artifact equip that equips for 2 and says the equips creature gets a +1/+0 but that's not why you have it you have it for the effect of whenever the creature deals combat damage to a player it creates a treasure token. It's cheap, it makes treasure which ramps you and it fits with the artifacts matter theme.
So not gonna lie when you sat down with that deck i thought to myself “tymna/akiri this will be boring” dont know why it was just my impression. But after watching the game play i was really into all the fun interactions that were built in nice deck. I also think all the love you put in with those masterpieces and foils is awesome.
I was considering building Zurgo because I really want to play equipment, but also not play voltron because I think it creates unfun game scenarios sometimes. Watching you play this seemed like the perfect deck for what I was looking for. Thanks so much for showing me a whole new world 😁
I added the new Venerated Loxodon to the deck for a few reasons: Elephant, convoke tends to allow it to enter as soon as turn 3 and a chance for infinite counters:p
It's funny to see how similar this build is to a deck I was already tinkering with for the same idea, but using Akiri and Ishai. While I like what you're doing and get the benefit you get from Tymna, I personally feel like you get more support for those artifacts from blue than from black with cards like Trophy Mage, Phyrexian Metamorph, Reconstruction, Hanna Ship's Navigator, as well as other solid artifact creation like Thopter Spy Network, and artifact support from Vedalken Engineer and Padeem. Also a fun new add you can get from blue for this is Echo Storm. Likely to be less agressive, but surprisingly similar.
Indeed! I love the "Balan Wandering Knight" Card as well. Instant speed equipt, not as powerful as Cranial Plating, but wow so good! :) The Chromatic Lantern reprint and Urborg helps with that BB equip cost. I am so glad for the Lantern reprint. I got back into magic like 1.5 years ago, and after a while I became a commander Junkie. Own lot's of four color decks. And I actually play most four color deck as a challenge to fix my mana. I ofc have good manabases. 37-40 lands if i go four colors, and lot's of fix. But getting all colours is the goal by say turn 3, to have all four colors on board or at least in hand thanks to a cultivate or something. That way I at least got to play my deck. I agree that BB is costly, but one usally need that equip abilety late game, so usually I got it in Breya!
This is a really fun looking deck. I love it! Also, the Hellkite Tyrant thing is hella true. I have a Silas Ren and Akiri deck, which aims to do similar things to this deck (more focus on the aggro and voltrony aspects with Akiri though). Hellkite Tyrant is often a ginormous traitor. Reanimating from another players graveyard is pretty much always a threat when any player is playing black. Heck, even blue is scary with clone and control effects.Use it with utmost caution. I even had one game where simply having it in my deck was a detriment when it was stolen with Gonti : [.
These Partners seems great! I did Akiri and Thrasios for a clue shell that rolls into infinite mana with very little effort. Akiri just breaks so mana decks haha
Saw the combination of partners and thought that "Those doesn't really work well together". Colorwise they work very very well from what you have shown :) A fun combination of partners are: Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist & Vial Smasher the Fierce. Cast a spell, draw a card. Every turn :D Perhaps another video for you JC?
I run this; my goodness is that a degenerate and powerful Grixis build. The best part is since you want to be playing Big Spells, The Deck... So many great and flashy cards.
Nice run for the command zone DJ. Hope to see you back for episodes and Game Knights. Nothing bad about Josh. But it would be fun to see how you and Jimmy hosting for a couple episodes without Josh would turn out. :D I feel it would be interesting in a different way. So nice of you to make a budget version of this deck. Apart from like 20-30 dollars worth of cards I can assemble the budget version of this deck from amongst my collection(but I would have to take decks apart)
Build Akiri with artifact affinity and equipment, trust me. You can turn her into a killing machine. Whispersilk cloak, darksteel plate, grafted exoskeleton, umizawa's jitte, loxodon Warhammer, cranial plating, grappling hook, any of the swords of x&y. The combinations are only as limited as what you draw into. My take on her is to partner her with SilasRenn because he can bring artifacts back. It also puts you in blue, which gets you into the world of Cyclonic Rift, Mystical Tutor, Rhystic Study, Propaganda, etc. Blue lets me run the newer Jhoira, who is just brutal in artifact affinity. Creature like Etherium Sculptor, Master Transmutor, Puresteel Paladin, Stoneforge Mystic, Sram Senior Enforcer, Ethersworn Canonist, Broodstar, Sen Triplets, and of course, Breya, all shine like diamonds in this deck. Grab you the four colored artifact lands for extra affinity, run as many Mana Rocks as you can afford, and just watch Akiri solo a player in one shot. The longer the game goes, the more frustration she creates. And not to mention, the Mycosynth Lattice/Vandalblast combo shuts the game down. It's a casual build, but one I've had a ton of fun with.
To be honest, seeing this deck idea in action almost made me want to dismantle my Akiri + Vial Smasher burn deck to build some version of this. Only thing really stopping me is that my Tymna is currently slotted for my four-color zombie deck.
You can just build the deck and pull the commanders from the others when you play it, it's nok like the commanders needs the same sleves as the rest of the deck these days anyway. If your playgroup allows it, you could even proxy the commanders since you already own them
I know this. I'm just one of those people who likes having the multiple copies, unless a given card is particularly expensive for me-- see: Urborg; Coffers.
Rewatching this video keeps me ideas, because I have a dalakos voltron deck that I'm thinking in upgrading to a jeskai version that plays similarly to this deck. But I still need to think on the strategy and the price
I made a deck similar to this but feels and plays really cruel most likely make people don’t wanna play with you due to half the time you either smacking for face milling your opponents or getting the win condition for tyrant on top of locking down your opponents creatures to buy turns for a two mana on top of the one cost drain
Instead of sram, why not have Puresteel paladin? It does everything sram does and adds utility with its metalcraft ability making all equip costs to 0. Also, it triggers of the blood-forged battle axe copies since its a ETB trigger not a cast trigger.
I saw the extra turn episode and you didnt cast Akiri line slinger once? At the end you got so many artifacts that you should have cast her and killed Josh with commander dmg.
ermmm Colorless does not equal generic, so how does what you are explaining @ 17:13 work? Colorless is not generic so you can't activate Eldrazi displacer's ability, so that combo will not work. ever since wastes were intoduced, artifacts that ramp you have been somewhat ruined. Sol ring use to say: "tap: add 2 to your mana pool" now it says: "tap: add (2 colorless) to your mana pool", that is not the same thing
Krark-clan ironworks had been errata'd to become adding two colorless mana on the oracle text of gatherer. Also I don't think it is possible to add generic mana now. All artifacts that add generic mana are changed to colorless
my friend bought this and is whooping my ass every game. The only chance i have against him is my sen triplets deck but that not fun to play against for obvious reasons. DJ please stop making such broken decks its just coming back to bite me
ErikTheRedd1 godo tutors the other half of the combo but you do in fact need both cards, and godo doesnt have to tutor the helm. What a novel concept l.
you do get that this combo requires 11 mana and a whole turncycle to win, right? if you play something for 11 mana and dont get disrupted for A WHOLE TURN you deserve to win. IMO this combo isnt even worth playing since you'd die before you get the benefits
Dino - Wer - Kuh godo doesnt need a turn cycle helm of the host makes the token during the combat step and the token has haste you never need to swing with the equipped godo
This deck is pure value. A lot of differ angles and win cons. I dig it
Vigilance is a vastly underrated ability, since it lets you go to combat without leaving yourself open. Having it on Akiri makes her frighteningly strong, especially paired with first strike.
Love the deck!
This deck on Extra Turns is the nutz.
Great video! Partner commanders allow for such variety in deck building 🙂
I really love this deck. It seems so original and all that bling really shows how dear it is to your heart

OH man! I saw this deck in action on Extra Turns and i really wanna build it. Specially since i have most of these cards and could never fit them in a deck that would leave me satisfied.
Ty DJ! I really like your content!! :D :D
How many masterpieces do you have in that deck?
At least 10
This is the deck my Akiri-Bruse Boros deck always wanted to be. This and the extra turns video were right on time.
Edit: a word
I am so shifting my akiri deck to this, thanks for the inspiration! Keep up the good work.
Saw this deck in the commander zone episode and it was powerful definitely. Loved it how it plays and runs
It's totally customizable too!
Really excited to make a version of this deck! Looks super fun.
Holy moly, I'm in love with this deck! Eldrazi displacer is one of my favorite cards, and I never even considered the combos with KCI and artifact token producers!

Awesome vid and congrats on finishing up your time with the Command Zone! Found your channel a while back through them and you make awesome content.
Yes amazing I was hoping you would post this!

A steel overseer would be great too cause i know it only pumps once a turn but its a great card to pump the team
Coming back to this after commandder legends. Looks like i'm gonna try Mardu Artifacts with LURRUS companion.
Sadly I don't think you can do that because tymna costs 3 cmc
@@Turn2Ugin was gonna replace Tymna with that elf that's 1B juuuust for the mv size lol.
Never did this yet, will try Mardutefacts soon enough though
DJ, can you please update this deck tech. You passion just made me build a variation! I love it!!!
Loved this video! It had lots of deck building ideas I can use with my Rakdos, lord of riots artifact deck
That's a fun general too!
Thanks for your video and showing your builds.

I want to see an updated deck tech for this deck with all the new artifact support we have been getting lately
I have the Marionette Master + Crainial Plating in my Breya deck. Did not even notice until now :D
That BB instant speed equip keeps that card out of WAY more decks ... but it's SO GOOD to have instant speed equip
Indeed! I love the "Balan Wandering Knight" Card as well. Instant speed equipt, not as powerful as Cranial Plating, but wow so good! :)

This looks fun to play.

This deck is aggressive enough that you may want to consider Queen Marchesa to give you the monarchy.
I just thought about dissolving my Syr Gwyn Deck and build another Mardu one. Either Kelsien the Plague or as it stands now, Akiri and Tymna 😁
I find it hilarious that DJ doesn’t cast akkri at all in the gameplay video
Rewatching this video keeps me ideas, because I have a dalakos voltron deck that I'm thinking in upgrading to a jeskai version that plays similarly to this deck. But I still need to think on the strategy and the price
I wish they would make allied coloured partners (they won't), it would be sooooo cooool to find all kinds of new combinations
well... I guess I have to build it now
I need a new update to this deck
This Deck performed awesome in extra turns love it, but so expensive😂😭
Eli O just take out all the masterpieces and save like $800
Why no puresteel paladin??
Love this deck btw!!!
Tried to find the Game Knights episode you referred to and it doesn't come up...
No sunforger for the shenanigans?
Beautifull deck!
What do you think about Raff Capashen legendary/artifact theme?
I have a singleton deck like that. It's SO MUCH FUN. I might build one.
